This came from sw.
And I thought mSEA really took care of their players... or at least they did a few years back. But also, I think this problem came from playing in public places like internet cafes--you can't monitor those computer there as well as your own computer at home for trojans and such.
Suddenly, Nexon screwing up typos, bugged elemental weapons, and a screwed up autoban system isn't as bad as waves of hackers ruining hundreds and thousands of both hours-time and money.

This isn't only AsiaSoft's fault. Nexon manages their game infrastructure. AsiaSoft cannot make changes to their servers without Nexon's approval, etc. I'm guessing that they got hit by an SQL injection exploit that started going rampant a few months ago.
Said exploit affected Microsoft SQL Server systems that served improperly coded websites, and has hit numerous government agency websites, including in the US and in the UK. A tool called sqlninja was developed, allowing for automatic server takeover where websites are vulnerable, which contributed to the rapid spread of injections.
Nexon America's site was also vulnerable, but a certain someone has submitted a report a while ago, which was taken seriously by Nexon.

This is like, four months old =O. Started on the Anniversary, MapleSEAns said it was their worst anniversary ever, lol.
No one ever knew, though. I found out a month after it started happening.
There's also the extreme lag issue (I mean the one in Malaysia and Singapore, not the USA) a couple months back, but it's pretty good now. Still never really saw anyone mention it, though.

Maybe people will listen now when we tell them it's not all roses and honey on the other side of the fence. Other versions have much worse problems than us.

The article DOES mention that many "hackings" were due to keyloggers and trojans...

"We were under attack from Chinese hackers from China" says Mr. Ng.
LOLOL. I can't believe people have spent upwards of 2k dollars on Maple. I only spent about $150. Maybe Nexon/AsiaSoft/etc. will improve now.

Hackings started last month, lag was four months ago (I think).
