Persona 3 (Portable), could it be considered as a VN?
#1
Odd question to those that probably doesn't even know what P3(P) is, but for those that did get a chance to finish P3(P), would you consider it a Visual Novel? The elements are there. Option-select whenever you're doing social interaction with friends, classmates, etc. There's a story behind it, and I would think that the game heavily revolves around reading dialogues in comparison to leveling up and endlessly grinding. I'm not sure about the other Persona games, but just from my own perspective of Persona 3 Portable, I'd consider it as a quasi-VN, because the similarities are there. There's just almost as much grinding as there are reading conversations, but I'd say the latter is more evident in the game.

opinions? y/n

I'm on my first playthrough, i don't want any spoilers but can i still play and train my personas and fuse more after i finish the game or do i have to restart with a new game plus.
Edited: Though i do see your point, the game reminds me of those books my friends used to read when they were younger where you could make a decision and each choice lead you to a different page.

Choose Your Own Adventure?

Eh, yeah, it's an RPG with VN elements. Definitely. P3P feels more like it because you don't have to travel in real time and you just choose the location you want to go to. It's essentially an RPG though, because you can't escape battling in Tartarus or getting to the next Full Moon eventually.

I have to finish my 2nd playthrough sometime this Summer, definitely.

Likewise, trying to unlock Orpheus Telos. I'm about halfway there, as far as MAXED Social Links goes. Gonna try to unlock it by mid or end of Summer. :/

Yeah, problem is I don't feel like dumping another 100 or so hours I spent in the 1st playthrough.

I don't have P3P, I don't have a PSP at the moment; Yet I'll get one sometime december for christmas maybe :x. But in P3FES it is NOT VN at all. It's a real game. Due to the PSP's Ram and limits and it won't perform well w/ PS2 graphics anywho. But yea Def gonna get this.

I've played P3 before, and as I said above, the game has the VN feel because of the dialogues, the Social Links and what not. The world map traveling kills it on the PS2, but you get my point.
