Still ~12 seconds though.
Combined both techniques to drop it to 6 rods, this one is rather slow though

I looked at Stereo's last design and I realized I probably couldn't improve on that, so I decided to try for the simplest design with only counterclockwise wheels.

There's room for a lot of improvement on this one, especially for the amount of water rods.

I'll try tweaking it.
Edit: Wow, it gets stuck a lot.
Edit 2: I did it! It's slow, though.

I had to remove a water rod, but the simpler the better, right?

5 water rods, 2 wood rods
1 counterclockwise wheel
9.7 seconds

Wow, that one's quite good. I don't think these counterclockwise ones can get any simpler, but maybe the speed can be improved a little.

I used a different approach: http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1533505
(5 water, 3 wood, 1 counterclock, 17 seconds)
I think if it could be tweaked just a little bit so that the fourth ball doesn't get stuck and roll back down, it could probably break 9 seconds.
Edit: Fixed it.
http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1533634
(5 water, 3 wood, 1 counterclock, 9.33 seconds)
Edit2: Stereo, you probably FPS lag a little. I timed your contraption and it was 7.6 seconds easily.

Got a 6 rod one done, it's crappy speed though.

I think the 7th rod is necessary to make it run smoothly, that little bump at the start is annoying.

But still, it's simpler and it's not that slow.
You're too good at this.
Edit: I removed a rod from your design and it still works, but not very well.

Lol, I never realized you could move the front ball.
If that then this:
http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1533876
7.13 seconds

Yeah, just never occured to me
I sped up Stereo's 6-rod by a couple seconds or so.

I can't get this to work, but it's close 2 wooden rods, no water.

Ok, that is a terrific simple design. I'll try to help and tweak it a bit.
Edit: So far, the best I could do is one in:

Yup. Hooking it to a motor was Stereo's idea though, good one.
It's also the first sub-7 time so far. The simplest solutions are usually the best.

The simplest solutions are usually the hardest to figure out though.

Yup.
I've been trying to find a minimal piece solution for Big Ball... haven't made much progress.
