Those aren't skillbooks, they're mastery books. Those stay.
Skill books from Zakum stay. All other skills except Hero's Will are given to you, so no more questing for skills (except Hero's Will).

I would rather die at bosses than do the Hero's Will quest. All the other warrior quests are just slow, that one's obnoxious.

What about Dragon's Breath, Infinity, and Taunt?
Today they require skillbooks, which drop inside the Power Stance skill quest. With the quest gone, have the books been moved to Zakum? Or are those skills freely available too?

I like it, yet dislike it at the same time. All of those quests gave what? Several million exp? They were actually worth doing for something other than the skill itself. Was good for a different change of pace while it lasted.
Hopefully there are still some quests that are worthwhile at those levels...

Sigh. Actually having to quest for your skills rather than having them handed for you was one of the few good things Maple ever did and they removed it.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

Those quests were the reason for grief of many lazy noob players. Nexon has to cather to the majority of their population =P
I really liked the quests, really got into them (fire demon was awesome, elquines too).

I actually had fun doing the skill quests, and felt like it made sense that you had to work for your final skills (even if the Cannon quest was glitched when I became a Corsair). Removing them out of laziness is horrible. Having to fight Kyrin to get Battleship/Super Transform? I thought that was a pretty cool idea, even if she was a pretty easy boss. Killing a bunch of monsters in the game that ride boats similar to yours so you can learn how to use your own boat better? That was a nice idea as well. Made it feel like your character was actually developing.

The only thing I didn't like about skill quests was low drop rates. (hi, formula for black cloud and Hero's Will quest) I remember how much I raged about the Assassinate quest, but I felt accomplished after I figured out spamming DS works. They give good EXP, and the storylines were actually somewhat interesting. Killing ninjas to tame them? Cool stuff mang.
So then what were people saying about skills that drop from Zak? Those still exist, right? Can you karma those after BB?

Trying to get my 4th job skills were some of my most memorable Maple experiences.
I did nothing on Maple for two solid weeks after I got my NL to 120 other than try to get into a zrun so I could get triple throw. This was before Karma Scissors. I didn't have autopot, was on the 2nd run of the night, ran out of pots, bishop ressed me, and since I was in bishop party now it healed me for the remainder of the fight, and finally after two solid weeks of effort I got my tt30 skill book. Not to mention that I had to sell off some of my precious ilbi throwing starts to pay for going on the zrun to start with. When I made my bishop Genesis quest was a real pain, but again, another memorable experience. I went with another bishop that needed genesis, it was epic. People died, had to recruit others while we were in the cave, but in the end after an hour or so we finally got the root we needed and finished the quest. The resurrection quest was also a great experience. It was a pain trying to do an invisible jump quest, but dropping coins on the invisible platforms really did the trick. I remember on my BM looking for the glove you have to get for Hurricane. I mean, all of these quests even though they were difficult were very fun and I still have fond memories of them. Its like they are the final step to finally proving you are worth of your fourth job. I am not surprised Maple is turning out this way though, if anyone has been to Maple Island lately you will see that they lowered the wood and screw requirement for your first char from 10 to 1. Thats pretty indicative of the entire direction Maple has taken. |
