Its on sale today in Steam in the Indie Story Pack. 5 bucks for 5 indie games.
Has anyone played Recettear? Is it worth buying? (I know, 5 dollars big deal)

Hahaha, I'm playing this game right now.
Personally, I think it's a pretty awful yet addictive game - much in the same vein of the game "FarmVille" I've heard so much about.

It was definitely a fun but short romp.
and i agree with Dusk on how lackluster the post-game was.
There's survival mode which has the bill increasing forever and ever. The problem is that dungeoning is far inferior to just playing the NPC shop market, which involves buying low(blue colored items) from merchants and selling high at the right times.
I find playing the market really fun actually (especially once you learn how do decorate the store to bring in customers who want what you're selling) and might give it a shot... but i would have liked it more if dungeoning was just as effective for pix grinding.
The localization team was awesome though. Had a good laugh at the scenes with Griff. xD Hope they continue to do more.

I found the localization to be fairly good considering what they had to work with. I noticed a Buzz Lightyear and a Godfather reference.

Improvements I think the game could use:
Boss on every 4th floor instead of 5th
Greater monster variety and balance (some of the monsters are pineappleing overpowered while others do 1 damage...if they hit you), better difficulty scaling
More frequent monster and better chest drops in dungeons
Larger role for the "rival" - make their store actually do something, offer competitive prices maybe?
Character stat buffs for Nagi, Elan, Tielle so that they are actually worth getting/using for a reason besides to read their scripts
Expensive endgame stuff to buy
Better voice acting for a few of the characters
Overall it just feels like they got REALLY lazy at the end.

Other things I wish they added:
*possible spoilers ahead*
A better way to determine what stats a piece of equipment will upgrade while in shops and how that will affect my adventurers.
Learning about how different refurnishings of the shop affect customers entering
Stop customers from selling me USELESS items at the end of the game. By that point, I just buy everything back at base price just to keep my Just Combos going.
Little Girls are way too stingy.
Allow me to see what advance orders I have while in town.
Include more SP on dungeon characters.
Make consumables cheaper.
Make dungeon crawling give better rewards at regular intervals.
Make my rival mean something rather than just coming around talking about all of her expensive affairs I don't care about. The storyline mentioned that the place I was living in belonged to her and even implied that she would be a rival. I never felt the rivalry.
More frequent boss battles
Make leveling up a bit less grindy.
More varied mobs - usually there'd only be like 3 - 4 different mobs per floor that are ridiculously easy to beat.
Stop respawning mobs while I'm working on cleaning a floor. Please give me that sense of accomplishment without having to backtrack to kill everything twice.
Give the Chapel, Town Square, and Pub more use than a scripted events area.
When doing business with customers, make it more obvious whether they're selling to me or I'm selling to them. "Capitalism, Ho!" doesn't really tell me one way or the other.
Give customers names so I know if I have a repeat customer.
Tone down the tutorial a bit. I don't need to do tutorial stuff twice.
Overall, the game is good and the innovation is there, but it really lacks the polish to be a great game.

Liked the demo, and I've heard good things about it so I bought the bundle just for it. Hopefully it's not too addictive, heh.

@ Dusk; definitely agree with you on the Elan and Nagi needing buffs...
... but Tielle is pretty much a beast after she gets the arrow rain skill and CuteRage. Especially with large size bosses.... i shouldn't be able to kill a duo of giant size bosses by standing in one spot and pressing the skill button roughly 5-10 times. xD
@ Fiel, agree with most of your list there, but you guys should add this:
-Kill off Euria as a reward in one of the dungeons. Seriously. implementing a character that basically forces you to break combo out of bad luck was just a horrible idea.
As for me, my main complaint is this: the dungeons need more random elements thrown in. Nothing's better than a roguelike that leaves you wondering what the crap is gonna happen next. but really; Recettear isn't even worthy of the title rogue-light

More stuff to fix:
- The alien, drunkard, and thief are all crap people to sell to. The thief girl only wants to buy treasures which are consequently worth the most, but she won't buy it unless she gets it at like 20 - 40% of base price. I'm not going to sell to a thief at a loss just to keep my combos going. I tried selling to the drunkard at even 30% of base price and he still complained about the price being too high. Is there a "ban from store" button?
- I get very frustrated at people who return multiple times a day for the same item I don't have. Okay, look, little girl, I don't have any bracelets and I'm not going out to get any today just to waste one turn of the dial so I can make 3000 pix on you when I could make 30,000 pix otherwise.
- Make it more obvious what I get when upgrading the shop from the Merchant's guild.
- Okay, so I can move around furniture... but what does moving it around give me? I don't see any practical use for it.
- Being able to set the default base price on the vending machine would give it a little more flexibility.
- When the news appears, also show a popup box in the bottom right corner showing like... "BOOKS: BOOM, WEAPONS: DOWN, FOOD: UP" so I don't have to rummage through all of my items to see which are red and which are blue. Also, items that are in a "boom" status have no color of their own. Perhaps pink would be the best for that.
Man, this game is a chore to play.

Except you missed the deal for it when it came in a pack for $5.
I think it's back to being $20?

I can't remeber if the game tells you, but as you sell stuff to people, they have a preset maximum amount of money they're willing to spend in your store which will increase the more they like you. If you try to sell a relatively new customer some expensive treasure, theres no way they'll buy it because its too much. I think a heart appears above the customer when they buy /sell you something if the amount of money they're going to bring increases.

I don't think there is a point in particular, just that you can have a bit more customizablity in your store. Well, as long as you keep as many items on show at the windows as possible.

I vaguely remeber there being a way to stop euria appearing (appearing less?) even if you trigger her cutscene, I think you had to keep your store in plain and not gaudy, though this does make your "rival" and her near bottomless pockets appear less, and her stingy fairy appear more. Eurias still an pimento though.
Recettears not a bad game, though if I had gone in expecting much other than what I saw in the demo, I would probably have been dissapointed.

Random bump:
The game was okay overall. Nothing too involving or hard. Dungeon crawling gets pretty repetitive though, but maybe that's just cuz I'm on the first runthrough. Though this is my first "harvest moon" type game, so I can't really gauge how well this game is vs the other similar games.
Euria really is annoying though. Always cockblocking my exp gain.
