The thread for figure-collectors
#61
Smooth Criminal Wrote:Question aimed at Khoi and Spidey, since you fellows have a good idea of a few characters, games, or series I'm interested in and what to look out for when I'm looking for a figure: recommend me a figure about $50 USD or under, preferably from a US-based store. I'm looking for something with a lot of personality (funny is a plus) and nothing too "kawaii". Posable or non-posable doesn't matter.

Gurren Lagann?

Tengen Toppa isn't on sale anymore, but that went for about the same price. There's also a full drill one for cheaper, and then there's just Gurren and Lagann sold together.

Here

Dunno if that's the kinda stuff you like though, if you want a picture of it, I can always try taking a picture of the one I have in my room.

He's not going to get this.

Edit:
Yotsuba being sold again. It's the same one I have. There's also Ena if you like her more.

Edit 2:
You can check out Kirinhobby for some stuff nice stuff. I believe it's US based, but lemme double check in a bit. $50 is your budget, so maybe one of the Nendoroids they have there.

Yeah, best bet is to find TTGL stuff from Revoltech. It's cheap and the quality seems to be pretty decent. Because most of my stuff are bishoujos, and the majority of it, I ordered from AmiAmi. :x Btw, Spidey, I was looking for that very specific TTGL figurine, thanks! I saw it on someone's picture once, but didn't know where I'd have to go to order it. Hmmmmm! So tempting!

Khoi Wrote:Omega/Omnimon, DO WANT. Wargreymon, eh. I love Wargreymon to death, but if I really had to pick, it'd be Omegamon for sure. The model kit is only around 35 USD (or less) on AmiAmi for Omegamon, thinking of getting it some time in the future, but I think it was sold out atm anyways. /sadface

I could have looked at anything, but kinda shuddered when I noticed "US based store". All of my stuff are either from Japan, or from people from the US that bought figures from Japan and selling them of figure.fm or whatever. You're not allowed to shop online, right? Hmm. I'll post more when I can think of something, as for now, no idea.

Pretty sure that model kit is totally different than the one I linked- I did see that too before I linked you (I was checking if the new one was on AmiAmi already), but this one isn't supposed to be out for a while, and it's a D-Arts.

ALSO, TTGL ORDERED, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Turning this into a can you find thread very quickly.

I've never bought or seen a figure in real life before. I'm interested in purchasing one, less than 30 dollars preferably but this isn't a strict limit. I'm interested in either Eva01/02 or maybe Lelouch, or even a Tales of Vesperia character if they can be found. Your help is greatl appreciated by this rookie

The three Gurren Laganns have some pretty good looking poses, except I can't see the full-Drillized Gurren Lagann very well in Amazon's preview or its poses; but I'm sure it's pretty cool too. Likely gonna go with the first one. Also going to grab Yotsuba as well.

Also adding Nendoroid Sebastian Michaelis to my to-buy list, because I just remembered about it recently; and it has some pretty awesome faces. Discovered this one a while ago from an image Khoi showed me, but I forgot about it.

As far as pre-orders go, I'm really interested in HMO Miku, because the accessories look great. The drumset looks like it'd be awesome to work with (and I also need a drummer for my band of figs, haha). Also, I definitely don't want to miss out on re-release of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Thanks, sis. Also, thanks for helping also, Khoi.

Pick out from there. Revoltech is who you look for when it comes to mech figures.

In the very small amount of time I've spent in /toy/, I've actually heard that the Robot Damashiis for 01 and 02 are somewhat better than the Revoltechs, though they cost a bit more.

As far as Vesperia... There's a number of figures out/coming out, but I'm not sure how interested you'll be (as I don't know what you think of which characters): here.

EDIT: Actually, if you want 01, there's a new Revoltech of it coming out in January.

Tales figures are hard to come by, but I believe that there are some TotA & ToV figures. There's an upcoming Flynn (I think this was his name from ToV) figure, it's PVC too iirc. Forgot about price, but the price was pretty high.

PS: You welcome, Smooth.

Hrmmm, I'm looking for Estelle to be specific. Is there any reason to wait for the new one, or are the old ones the exact same with less adjustments?

There's an Estelle about 4 inches high that comes with Judith, Yuri, Karol, and a "secret character" who I believe is Repede.

Here you go.

Link?

And I think I found the figure I want...Link. I have free two-day shipping too, but I'm not sure if it's a good buy or not. There's also these two, but I'm not hugely liking the mass production or the Eva 02 they offer.Eva 02.Mass-Production Eva

Any comments/concerns?

Prices seems a bit high to me. In VB class right now, so I can't search anything. But if I'm free later tonight, I'll do sum searchin' for ya.

The only thing is it's through Amazon and I could have it Monday and not pay shipping...

Well, like I said earlier, there's a new 01 coming out in January with some nice extras, but if you want that now (and want something that's ~$10 cheaper after shipping than the new one), then I see nothing wrong with getting it instead.

Like Khoi said, the cost might be a little high, but the free shipping makes up for that.

Is this an error? Or were they really giving this away for free...?

Click here for a figure that is labeled as "0 JPY".

>_>

Sold out, DERP.

Don't know if anyone's interested, but someone on Tomopop posted about it, so here: http://www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=english&v...splay.html

Also, a heads-up: AmiAmi's had to scale back on what sales they can offer to international customers. If you ever find something that's really cheap, but won't let you buy it if you're not using the JP site: switch to JP, put it in your cart, and switch back.
