The west is generally more conservative and the east is generally more liberal. I personally think they both suck Redface It always ends up in a mud-slinging competition instead of actually trying to better the country. For example, sites like notaleader.ca are basically smear campaigns against the leader of a party, marginalizing the important issues. (Was Harper's cartoon of a puffin crapping on Dion really necessary? lol). Of course, the liberals have their own smear site in scandalpedia. It seems to slightly take a higher road, but it's still pretty bad...

From a seperatism point of view, I think that having Dion in office would do a world of wonder to keep Quebec from wanting to split. Harper just keeps screwing over ontario/quebec/alberta/BC, from what I've seen... Of course, he did lower the GST (by moving the taxes into property tax instead, pretty much Undecided ). That's going to get him lots of the renter's votes but it doesn't gain him any points with the land owners :-P

I still don't know who I'm voting for... so far there's been too much mudslinging, not enough actual platform. It's kind of sad that politics always seem to devolve into a "which one is the lesser of these evils?" pick. It's also sad that we're seeing more media coverage of the american elections than we are of our own.
