Would it change the rates of the items if you hold it?
Usually items that specifically have the NPC in the name should correspond in some way.

Well, if you have the book in your inventory (I have been carrying it around for months now), he says "Interesting reading, my friend! Perhaps if you find a Ridley Stone we can talk..."

so yeah, not much, though he does acknowledge you have it. I doubt it has any affect on rewards.

yeah see its real easy first you have to do this quest called "mom's where's your purse" see and when you get there you have to find the npc called mom and you ask her where her purse is, she then instructs you where to find it, and its a perilous journey to the other side of the house, from there you take a key item called mom's credit card, then you have to do another perilous journey to target, or the comic book store and use mom's credit card to get another item called iTCG, from there you use it and find a code go in cash shop put in the code and there you go, also you fail the quest if mom finds out
