So, is the server's map endless? From the map a few pages back, it's odd to have the map not a complete rectangle. It seems like the map expands as people continue to move forward.

The map is generated as you explore. If you set up a bot to walk in a straight line for a few hours / days, you would triple the server size.

The memory limits on the game limit the map size though. To about 4,096 million square kms.

Ah okay. Pretty cool imo

I spawned in here...

Free chest and mossy cobble stone ftw?

Lucky spawn there. I found a 2nd dungeon this time with zombies on my most recent map. Perhaps the game was making up for the lack of chests in the spider one but one of the chests there had a record. Totally making a jukebox when i find diamonds. Monocle Although im not sure if you can move a jukebox after you make it...

Just got it earlier today. Late birthday present from my Aunt. <.< So far it's fun, albeit I fail at killing things. On the major plus side, my first world is a snow one. Best one I could have gotten given my love of winter and snow and other cold things. Big Grin

I was trying to find it. Hazzy managed to find it ._.

so thats where that trail of lights leads.
Hazzy i have yet to see your place. o-o

The lights going to his place was purely coincidental. I was trying to find the spawn from my place.

You can use my tunnel near spawn to get to my place, but you will need to tower out of the it when you get there. The entrance is just north of the spawn, near the giant pint in the sand with lava. Look for a small doorway with torches and a sign in a dirt mound.

That must be using an HD (128) tile mod. While trying to find the minimap you guys were talking about which is posted earlier in this thread I saw that. Once it is finished, I might look into how to apply those. Oh, and that minimap mod in question has been taken down, so are there any other "in game" options other than the cartographers?

Oh, and Hazzy, two things.
1. Where is that lava cave and how is the lighting so nice there?
2. For the tunnels endpoints at both of our places, I suggest a spiral staircase two wide with a 3x3 or 1x1 pit in the center for daylight lighting. On the inside step, place two fences as a a form of railing (I've run into a glitch of getting stuck with one level of fencing and steps).

So, my base in Erich's server is sorta 4-tiered right now, none of which really complete and I'm wondering how to take it from here.

My primary home structure is going to have 3 interior levels with a top level that has a courtyard in the center and potentially a lookout tower at the comers (diagonal structure). In the corner opposite from the 3 entrance staircases, I intend to make a subterranean storage room with ladder access, but beyond this I'm uncertain of how to arrange my interior space. The first floor is raw wood flooring, second is cobble flooring, and 3rd is planks. I know I want a library, living room w/fireplace, a gallery, and an entire floor for living quarters, but I haven't figured out which to place where yet, or if to remain square or diagonal on the inside.

The Harbor is kinda blah as it stands right now, but I don't want to wreck the natural landscape in the process of making it noticeable from sea.

My forest has a nice solid canopy so I might start to tier more trees on top of it to make a treetop village, but I don't want it taller than my mountaintop keep. Having a pyro know of it's whereabouts concerns me though Frown.

The last thing is the volcano-top lair. I was planning to make it all of iron initially, but now I'm curious of how it would look mixing in glass and obsidian. Or just leave it as a floor with no walls since it rests right on top of the clouds creating the illusion of walking on clouds just above the volcano.

Regardless of all that, time will be a nightmare for me this week so I REALLY shouldn't be going in game this week. That doesn't mean I won't be knowing me though. Be sure to give me a lecture if you spot me in game Excellent.

Oh, and before anyone asks; no, I didn't buy the game, and also no, I didn't pirate it. Take that as you will.

John, I have a staircase design already built on the Spawn's end and I had planned on reproducing it at both my house and yours. If you want to use your own design at your end, go ahead. I can put off my house's stairwell if you do plan on using your design: I'm very visual and cannot quite picture what you're describing, but I want to see it.

What lava cave? I get all of my lava tiles from Admins.

more push for a server-wide train network to connect everyone's homes?

If you have room in that space allotted to reproduce that station entrance, by all means go for it, I just thought that'd be too much effort if you plan on expanding beyond just our places. Just have to remind you that there's a load of sand and clay near the surface there. Also, after you logged yesterday I put another half hour into aiding the tunnel clearing. Which would look better as a sidewalk from the station to my entrance on that side? Planks or half-steps? Trying to keep a natural feel in that particular zone, but planks in the middle of soil seems a bit odd. And I just got an idea for my harbor expansion while writing this. I can knockout that cape section and expand the harbor around that entire corner to connect it with the station so that from the station people can also depart for further destinations via boats. I just need to figure out how to stop animals from bumping the boats into the walls and whatnot destroying them all the time. Or do they just vanish when no one is in the vicinity?

As for the lava remark, I was referring to the SS you provided above. Sorry for not quoting it as well. Do you have a tile mod or something that changes the way the lighting looks? Since that SS looks awesome. I know we have loads of underground lava pits since I've seen them while loading on occasion, but is there really something like that down there?

If you won the game from a contest, tell me which website you won it from.
