Time Traveler Medal - Permanent?
#21
Just confirmed that the Cygnus echo only gives 2%, even though the skill description says 4%. Attack max 3947 -> 4024.

that isnt the point though, the point is that the level 200 medal was a reward for reaching 200 and was supposed to have better stats than any other medal. just like our mount is faster than any other mount, and we have a skill that gives us a boost. the 200 medal is obsolete now, why wear it when you can wear something with 7 more attack?

Never remembered anyone saying whether that was correct or not.

That is what happens as the game goes on. Isn't the level 160 wolf for Arans the same speed as the 200 mount for Explorers?

yeah and i actually think the 200 wolf is faster speed. but thats an aran mount, the medal is for everyone since it's lvl 0

The Medal may be level 0, but the lowest possible level someone could earn it is level 30, due to the fact that you must be level 30 or higher to do the Cube Party Quest.

Regardless, it's still overkill for such a low level and somewhat easy medal to earn. :x

Doing the stage 4 quests on a lower level character was impossible unless you had help.

But the chances of most lvl 30+ actually passing every stage wasn't that high especially stage 4 ne? o.0

This. I didn't ask the question regarding MY grind to 200, which I did because I wanted to be done with the game and, yes, because I wanted a better end ranking than had I not power grinded, but the rewards given at the level should be the inspiration alone. Not only does this Time Traveler medal completely render all Lv. 200 medals obsolete, but it renders ALL other medals obsolete, essentially making what was a neat and competitive system of improvement into a "shoulda coulda woulda" over actually completing the Visitor quests.

Herein lies the root of the problem. In an MMO that is essentially, by definition of its own survival, a constantly evolving game, it's difficult to have an "end-point" for anything. In this case, a level cap like they have. Now I'll say I desperately hope they DON'T increase the level cap, as it would truthfully signal the pointlessness of grinding to 200 when placed alongside all of these other additions to the game, but it would be more understandable if the new cap, say, 250, granted rewards absolutely unachievable by any other level, such as a rebirth system.

tl;dr: The analogy of WoW increasing level caps, but having grinding to the level caps still have meaning and a sense of accomplishment, is something that doesn't work with Maple. Nexon needs to change the system, either by following Blizzard's model in god knows what way, or by upgrading/adding/doing SOMETHING to make the current level cap more worthwhile.

Although i can sympathize the long grind to 200 (i know a few people that have hit it) and how one of the prizes gets completely blown out by a medal that can be gained with much less time and effort, theres still the fact that you guys DID reach 200, the end-level point in this game, echo, draco mounts, having your own npc, being on ranks amongst the top is a pretty big reward in itself. Minus one part of the prize of getting to 200, there still isn't any equal to having the most stats of your class, being able to distribute the full 80 levels of sp into your skills, and just actually being 200.

The game will go on its nothing new, achievements that were amazing back then can just as quickly get clouded out by the newest and biggest patch, i remember having a str cb when no one wanted to be str, hitting my first 10k assaulter at lv 103 which was an amazing feat at the time, only to eventually see chars 30 levels below me with decent equips doing the same and more. Games usually move forward if they are able to, and its really up to you if you wanna adjust to the changes or bring up a debate about them.
