I learned in high school that the proper term to use is "he" or "she." People usually use "he" but it does not mean you think that person is male. There is no nongender third person animate object pronoun so you have to make do with "he" or "she" the same way other European languages assign an arbitrary gender to inanimate objects.

I remember one of the first non-Extraction threads I saw on Southperry was someone accusing someone else of being Spidey. Must be quite infamous around this part of town...
