Use 1%.
2% boom chance, and a 99% chance of getting a slot back. What's not to like?

Can 1 person please explain to me why they find the price so outrageous?

WS in bello cheap = 300m

Nx rate in bello = 1:15 or lower

This thing is then about 300m, and is better than a WS. If you're gonna complain about the price on PS, go and complain about the price on WS.

And really, this will deflate WS. No matter what [for a weapon from clean], you will burn 9 extra WS than PS for a perfect weapon.

All Nexon did was really have an item that was extremely rare be purchaseable as long as you got the funds as the supply was infinity. It's the same thing as putting say thorns30 in the cash shop. Instead of the location being solely dependent on horntail, DBs were able to get it from another source.

I'm sure if gen30 [prior BB] was put into cash shop for 30k, people wouldn't give a pomegranate about the price. Some people burn 2-5b or more just trying to pass the dumb book.

I see what you are saying now... well then, that is pretty crafty. I actually think that will work.

it's a $20 price tag on an item that cost them nothing to make and didn't need to be that high, that's why people complain. white scrolls may cost a lot of mesos, but that's just that. it's mesos. it doesn't matter what some people would pay, this is a pretty crazy price for something with no literal value.

People pay 25k nx for a server transfer all the time and it costs nexon nothing to make them either. Yet I barely see anyone complaining that server transfers are overpriced, whats the difference?

You say no literal value like there are items with value... Every NX item made costs Nexon nothing.

Mesos and nx are both forms of virtual currency and are interchangeable because of the MTS. Nx doesn't have any value in real money, if you pay real money for it, you get virtual currency, that's it. The price on pam's song is actually quite cheap for what it does.

These are bought in a mass amount, about 7(unlikely) to hundreds just to scroll a perfect equip.

server transfers aren't something most players want to buy by the dozen.

it's not cheap because it has no real value. it could be $1 and still be considered expensive. i'm not arguing that the pricing is bad (though i do think it's a tad over the top) i'm just stating why others would think so. mesos for white scrolls is a fair trade because neither have any real value. real money for this isn't a fair trade because real money has real value and this has none. whether you buy the nx or not, someone out there is pushing $20 for each of these. achieving $20 in the MTS in a short period of time is quite an achievement on it's own; doing it multiple times is near impossible unless you're a merchant with a large seed fund already.

the point is that requesting anyone to give them $20 for something with no value is ludicrous. if you needed my drier lint for some art project and i tried selling it to you for $40, would you not be a little outraged?

True enough, probably not the best example.

However, it is like Cyanne said. NX and Mesos are both interchangeable at a fixed rate, this is in essence cheaper and better then white scrolls. White scrolls are 400mill mesos approx or 33k NX in Scania, they also are used up whether or not the scroll works or not. This however, is 19.5k at a fixed rate no matter what server you're in and they are only used if you fail a scroll.

Buying these in the dozen are a lot cheaper then buying White Scrolls by the dozen, and you won't even need half the amount using these compared to White Scrolls in theory.

Yes, obviously someone is paying 20$ for each one of these, even if it isn't you. However, someone is also paying 30$ for the 30 gach tickets you use or 9 - 10$ for the two vicious hammers you use. Why isn't that ridiculous? Those all cost Nexon nothing to make and hold no real value in the real world.

Pam's song doesn't cost $19.50, it costs 19500nx. Pam's song has no value, and nx has no value.

MapleStory is srs busniz!

Really though, mesos is money because they can be sold and traded for items/NX, which has value. You normally wouldn't get NX for free.

well, unless i can trade in my polka dots for that 19500 nx without anyone having to spend anything...

$19.50 is coming out of someone's pocket and going to nexon, therefore this costs $19.50. your argument is a cop-out.

I can't trade my Pam's Song item in to a store for something worth $19.50 either, can I?

The fact is, as soon as a dollar is turned into NX, it loses any value it had. You can't resell NX back to someone else for dollars, legally at least, so it has no value.

this is exactly why it's insane for them to request so much for an item with no value. i CAN'T turn my pam's song back in for $19.50. if i could then everything would be swell. anything else i buy with money in the real world can be traded for real money at any time i choose; it retains value. nx is valueless, these items are valueless, thus asking anyone to turn their $19.50 into 19500 nx for something that not only could be cheaper but cost them nothing to create is nuts. that's the point.

Lose 19.5k nx -> get Pam's song is a completely separate step from pay real money -> obtain/generate virtual currency. If someone wants to buy nx with real money, it's a decision to trade real money for valueless virtual currency. If you're simply looking to buy a Pam's song with real money, understand that the first thing you're doing is trading money for virtual currency, which you can then use on Pam's song if you want. Nexon technically earning $19.50 from each Pam's song purchase is independent and separate because it doesn't affect the bottom line that is the fact that if you're buying Pam's song, you're using valueless virtual currency to do it that can be obtained at no cost (MTS).

So your argument is that since you can't turn it back into money, they shouldn't charge as much as they are?

It's not like you're getting nothing for your money spent. You are. It just doesn't have any real world currency value. You should know before hand that anything you buy with this has no value, just like anything in any game has no real world value.

How exactly do you want Nexon to make money? Donations?

you're implying that they haven't made enough money prior to the release of this overpriced item to be one of the most profitable mmo companies in the world. they did just fine prior to the release of pam's song, cutting the price in half wouldn't hurt them (it would probably make them more money or just as much, as well as making them available to many more people)

they could always earn money by providing a reputable service, which is something they continuously fall short of. that would make charging astronomical fees for monopoly money seem a little more reasonable.
