So yeah, two things I forgot to mention. Firstly: MasPan and BTA, you both did (from what I can tell) crazy amounts of PMing and such. I'm rather curious about the full stories of what you guys did. Would you mind posting here? Secondly: What did people thing? Good? Bad? Clues were too confusing? Story was lame? Give me some feedback so I can hopefully improve the next one (since several people on IRC are harassing me to start another game up... >_>).

And on that note, if I do another game, how do people feel about a Pokemon theme?

Story was decent, but I prefer more gruesome deaths.

Telling the dead people the roles was obviously a mistake (NOT THAT I TOLD ANYONE ELSE ANYTHING IMPORTANT), but that's something to keep in mind for next time.

Game was fun. However, I adamantly disagree with private PMs and such should only be restricted to people who know each other. If you feel like Supermasonry will destroy the game, then give the Mafia more powers. Even with all of those PMs, I only found out that BTA was innocent and Maspan figured out Mira was mafia and BTA and Holypie to be innocent. No one even trusted us with that information, given the past events.

A Pokemon theme....would be quite weird. I mean, we could still do it, butttttttt my childhood dreams would be forever tarnished with the vision of Ash Ketchum covered in blood with a knife through his back.

One more thing. Why do you need to give everyone new names?

I didn't really. The name thing was purely for my own amusement and story purposes. It's much easier/more fun to write a story a) where the characters are named things like Chris and not xBTAx, and b) where I can use names without fear of people thinking I'm implying that [insert person here] is or is not mafia or any other special role.

To address the gruesome deaths thing: Was your head being staked to the door with the clue nailed to it not gruesome enough for you? <_< But yeah, partly at Mira's request I toned down the next one and made it more action-y and badass (the little shootout). *Shrugs* You can't please everyone.

Lastly, you're the first dissenting voice I've heard with regards to the PM issue. I'd like to hear what other people have to say on the subject too, so if anyone feels like posting to let me know, now's the time.

If you don't mind, can I run the next mafia game? I was thinking of doing a Pokemon theme since you know, Pokemon person and all.

Fine by me, but we should probably come to a decision about the whole PM thing before jumping into another game...

I'll explain more when I get home, but:

I was basically the middle-man for Yoshi and Jon. I knew the identity of everyone except Kurtle, Dark, and Cookie.

Then Cookie tricked me into thinking he was the vigilante. I mistakenly trusted him due to how confused he seemed.

Basically, he would kill Kurtle, Jon would investigate Dark, and then we'd vote for Dark or Mira based on that.

So to put it simply: Cookie is an evil genius.

But damn it Yoshi, I told you to delay protecting till I got home. >.<

EDIT: And I mainly used IRC to contact people, not PMs. I also had a .txt file listing people's identities and such that I put on Dropbox, so Jon could get updates throughout the day if I didn't go on IRC.

Yeah but you looked liked a badass. And you're right about the detective.

I was kind of disappointed that I got killed right away. I can understand why - I'm new. I guess I should have mentioned before we started that I've played a lot of mafia and generally know what I'm doing. For example, after I died, I briefly looked at the clue but didn't really try to solve it. I read the posted cluesolves and deemed them plausible but not concrete. Then, LX IMed me and gave me a small prompt ("Have you solved the clue? There's something the townies are missing."), after which I went back and really tried to solve it. When I did that, it took me about 10 seconds to see "OM NOM NOM" and, paired with the word "monster," figure out that z0mgc00k13 was indeed the killer. Now, I'm not saying that had I been alive I definitely would have still figured it out, but I think it's likely that I would have and it baffled me that nobody else saw it, but I've seen clues in that format in the past so I'm sure that was a factor in my finding it. After reading BTA's post above me, I think that killing c00k13 early on could have been a pivotal point for the game. Oh well. I'll admit though I had no idea about the clues for Darkmaniak, I don't do well with obscure reference clues (and as a comment, I don't think they work well, LX).

Anyway I'm gonna participate in future games and maybe I'll get to live past day 1 and be helpful in the future.

First day of my investigations - I pm ClawOfBeta and Holypie, stating that I am a mafian and that I will kill them if they do not vote the way I tell them to (for BTA) the next day. Claw "agrees" as does Holypie, at which point I tell them both that I am, indeed, not a mafian and that I was trying to manipulate them to control voting. Claw dies that night, and (thankfully) the thief had intervened, saving me from his kill (he thought I was mafia, and PM'd BTA as such).

Second day of my investigations - I pm BTA, telling him the same thing -that I am a mafian, and will kill him if he does not vote for Holypie. I then pm Holypie, informing him of my plan to investigate Mira by asking her to votekill BTA then Holypie. I claimed to her that BTA was a mafian and Holypie a townie, and that votekilling BTA would make me appear innocent to everyone else, allowing me to manipulate them into their doom. Two things tipped me off that she was a mafian during this investigation:
1. Despite pretty intelligently challenging WHY she should go along with my plan (since she'd lose anyway), I told her that we'd end the game without killing her, but it's a really weak argument, she agreed to for
2. TWO days. At which point she pledged to "renegotiate." Assuming a 25% mafian population, that would be exactly enough time for the mafia to win if both BTA and Holypie were civilians and assuming the mafia kills 2 civilians at night. At this point I trusted both Holypie and BTA, and shifted my suspicion to Mira. For someone who had argued so well against helping me, agreeing to help for 2 days then splitting from the plan was just too coincidental.

Then I talked to BTA again, explaining that I suddenly trusted him and was shifting my vote to Mira, advising himto do the same. He refused to believe that I was a townie, so I attempted to convince him I was the detective (bad move, the detective had, unbeknownst to me, already contacted him). When that failed, I told the truth - that I was a regular townie, but could not reveal how I knew Mira was mafia. Because of this, he didn't trust the info, and I died, noting that Holypie and BTA would be confirmed to be townies with my death proving my innocence.

So, for a person with no role, I managed to uncover the identities of 3 players through a very risky and sneaky investigative method. Go me?[/COLOR]

Like I said before, I did end up trusting Holypie,and we thought Mira was the Godfather, but I wanted Kurtle, Cookie, and Dark's identities first. Cookie tricking me made the plan fall apart, so... yeah.

And the part about PMing me is inaccurate. Your PM simply said:

A bunch of us are convinced that Holypie is a mafia member, and will be voting for him tomorrow. I recommend joining in, eh?

Due to that I actually suspected you less (until everything went crazy during the day), because CoB had told me that the Mafia was going to vote for me, and he never told me that it was you that told him that.
