Scheduled Server Maintenance - 08.03.10

There is an exploit going on and it's not explicitly tied to the event. They've just taken advantage of the fact that there's an extremely valuable highly desirable item that can be stacked. The server crashes late at night on khaini and the others? the ridiculous abundance of Chaos Scrolls and 2hand 50%? the sudden drop in price - there's only one explanation. The supply has radically increased and it wasn't done legitimately.

i still think the reason chaos scroll price dropped is because we got potential and enhancement scrolls, correct me if im wrong, but on kMS, isnt chaos scroll like 5mil a piece?

i don't think its an exploit if nexon programmed the npc to give 50% scrolls, people are just abusing it making a new account(new email, ID, etc), leveling an char to lvl 10 and getting the scroll.

the game is still giving the scroll because nexon programmed it to do so, it's not "hack related".

Contradiction much? The quote says that blank 40% scrolls will stop being handed out but that was for the last server maintenance. Yet they are still being handed out. While this is being abused and it may not be fair, this is Nexon's fault to let the scrolls continue to resurface. So yes, I could see them calling out for exploit. I could also see a lot of legitimate players getting falsely accused too...

That is not where those scrolls were coming from. It's from the Top Secret quest from cassandra, meaning anyone can do it.

and how i heard, to get the 50% scroll, it must be one specified class, not all jobs give 50% scroll. theres no such hack or anything, just nexon fail programming.

not defending, that exploit is different from chaos exploit, theres no need of any hack, just making a NEW account and getting the scroll.

you have to make a specified class, not all class work, it MUST be the class ****.

There was no reason for us to believe that 52 stat HTPs weren't legit other than the data, which only a handful of people knew about at the time. I know, for at least first gen Windia, we were instructed not to sell them in the event that they weren't supposed to be hammerable and did not want to rip people off.

Was their a rollback or ban for those who exploited the hellban dupe a few weeks back? If not i dont see it happening with this.

Anyone who buys a 2hand 50% scroll in the FM better get perma banned then, its no different from what I did.

Knowing Nexon they wont do a thing this time to the people doing the exploiting or those who bought them in the FM.

chaos exploit = packet editing = hacks.

50% scroll
1. make a NEW account( new email/new id/new pass/etc)
2. make a ******/****/**** char
3. lvl the char to lvl 10
4. get quest from maple admin, receive 40% blank scroll
5. talk to gaga
6. ???
7. profit.

Again, it's just abusing a design flaw. I see it the same as making a ton of mule accounts during those refer-a-friend days. Or what about inactive mule accounts that got welcome back exp rings and people using those mules they haven't touched in years to get an advantage.

Just because this deals with a high valuable item does not necessarily make it a glitch. If tomorrow there was a quest that when you reach level 200, you were rewarded 200 white scrolls, would you consider that a glitch too just because it deals with a valuable item?

the glitch is that if you make an aran you can get more than one scroll per account (unlimited if you delete and remake), if you make any other char you have to make a new account every time you get a scroll.
