[COLOR="Magenta"]This is actually pretty awesome move in terms of Nexon's player base.

Think about it, you can't go explaining to young kids (12+ assuming Nexon's R&R) the significance of inflation and the affect it has on the economy. Even at 18, I'm still confused by it all. This is a perfect example that Nexon does try to reach out to its players, even when the majority of its players are still young. I really like this example, and its the perfect metaphor for these troubles we've been having. I do applaud whoever wrote it.

The reason they're introducing the events with CS items that give Meso is not because they don't care about the inflation, its because they want to show the players that they're better than the Meso sellers. They're trying to weed out illegitimate activities by telling them, "Hey! We can do this too, but its legal! Smile"

Again, I'd like to give Nexon kudos for this post. You're actually manning up to be the company you ought to be.

Ookami Wrote:Nexon, you forgot to mention if you had decent programmers and any sense of how your game works you wouldn't have to preform rollbacks in the first place.

"All the company can do in this sort of situation is apologize and offer as much compensation as they can"

Oh really? I'm sure you could have done better then 5k maple points.

Care to explain how "if they had decent programmers they could have avoided rollbacks" works out?

Also, you forgot 42 hours of 2x EXP and drop over 5 days.

Well, how they could've avoided rollbacks is simple. The first meso exploit (the one that resulted in hellbans nearly two weeks before the rollback) involved sending negative numbers by packet editing to the donation box NPCs.

The second meso exploit (the one with the rollback) involved sending negative numbers by packet editing to Chief Tatamo. And a third (and I think a fourth short-lived) meso exploit involved sending negative numbers by packet editing to regular store NPCs.

I'm no professional programmer, but if you want to prevent this kind of hack, wouldn't it be better to implement a global check for negative numbers that don't make sense in packets sent to the server? I mean, since Nexon knows that packet hacks are widespread and all, client sided checks just won't do. It would have been easier than fixing each NPC individually. And it's not as if it would consume much system resources. When your game has a hacking problem, you should be as proactive as you can at preventing future hacks. If I can think of a fix that would've prevented the rollback, Nexon should have.

And THAT is why I'm still angry at them for all I lost in the rollback. I will never get my bishop's tub chair back, since they didn't bother to extend that event. I'll never get back the nearly a week of 2x card time that they extended during a week I was too busy with real life to train... Or the ring event that got extended during a week I was STILL too busy to train and Golden Temple was gone so it was hard to get maps, so I now don't have enough rings. Not to mention, boss runs, deals, hours of my life...

So, if they want to compensate fairly, they should have at least extended or brought back ALL of the events, not just the ones their user base complained and made a stink about. And had 2x events at varying times for gosh sakes. Some of us have, you know, lives... especially during evenings and weekends.

Aside from what Morgana said, a long time ago, they claimed to have "logs" of everything. It's not hard to mine out all those who traded in negative amounts of whatever to chief tatamo or those who donated negative amounts etc, but my guess was that they were bluffing, and still is. This is why they resorted to a "best guess" action which targets a particular group.

What however more striking is that their words are totally opposite to their action. They introduced mechanisms to inject more mesos into the game via meso sacks and coming soon tokens. Initially, the only method to get meso is to loot or sell stuffs. There are hardly any quests that returns a decent amount of meso. Now, however is a completely different ball game. They decided to fight meso selling sites by "introducing their own meso selling services". I'll be bold and say that even without hackers, we'll still be in a pretty bad economic situation right now, due to their greeds.

Nexon 101: This is how we do Economics
1. rollback billions of falselly generated mesos
2. rollback player content to anger several million of their fanbase
3. Later introduce money sacks that give upwards in the millions of mesos for NX
4.???
5. PROFIT!

6. Explain how cuckoos and pandas all make meso farmers rich as well as give reason to why the cuckoos deserve to be napalm'd

I got more mesos than I had. *Is satisfied*

The way they presented this confuses me more than if they had just explained it without metaphors. I suppose it makes sense to kids, I dunno.
