As we are all aware of, once the new potential & uber Chaos scrolls hit gMS what will be considered "godly" will seem like utter pomegranate. However, is this truly the case? I had a "sky is falling" mindset about it but now that I think about it it may not be so bad.
For potential scrolls we need to remember the stats will be randomly generated so there's a very slim chance to even get the exact bonus stats you'd want on the 1st try. Then don't forget on a failure, BOOM.
The uber chaos scrolls are insanely good because you CAN'T lose stats, but only gain. However, it get's progressively harder to succeed on each one, and after about the 5th one or so you'd need the luck of the gods to succeed. Heck, I think for me I'd just be happy with 2-3 stars on my equipment. Not to mention if the uber chaos fails it's a guaranteed boom as well.
Then there's the fact that you have to have 0 slots for the equipment to work, which means you need to already have pre-scrolled the equipment before attempting to scroll for godlier stats. What this means for me is that I'm not laying a potential/uber chaos scroll anywhere near my Stormcaster's Glove, 31 DEX unfinished Zakum helm, or Pink Cape within the distance of a 10 foot pole because I don't want to gamble with a 1b+ meso piece of equipment.
So what do you think the state of equipment will be once the new scrolls hit gMS? I'll put up 4 options, can pick multiple options:
1. Current equipment will be deflated. TO THE GROUND. (~25-50% deflation)
2. Current equipment will not be affected much due to explosive properties of the new scrolls. (~5-10% deflation)
3. Current equipment will deflate, but will still have a place on the market as people (~10-25% deflation)
4. As a treat to the return of Combatnette I'll let him pick the option to Derp.

Zak farming will commence so if anything these shouldn't be too hard to come by. People with meh equipment can get a nice and early boost and most people will stick with 4 stars at max. thing is it's the higher level equipment that will benefit the most so if anything start saving more ores when a slew of makering comes again

If anything, they'll go up. At least for a while. Everyone will hunt down new equipment to get the percent bonus, and then scroll hoar on top of the Potential Scrolls. Probably with White, if they have the money.

It's hidden. Press Ctrl W a few times and it should open.

Prices will seriously be crazy for a while. Last night my second item ever in KMS potentialed gave me +1% DEX and +1 INT, and thats a lvl 20 equip. Jumping to something higher leveled, and it just gets better.
Current equips (scrolled) wont drop in price too much, but it will be noticeable. There will be people willing to risk some breakage to be able to potential good equips.
Things like Zak Helms (non potentiald) will drop in price, as the stats on potential helms go great with the clean stats, so Zak will be hunted more for the potential helms.
Mid level equips with potential (non identified) will average out for a few mil.
It will take a lil while for the market to settle after it comes, thats for sure.

I love how "DERP DERP DERP" has the most votes. Anyway, god knows what'll happen with prices.

#3. Good equips with the added potential of a previously high attack will be more beneficial for stat whores. Maybe not initially, but later on as certain attacks on things become more 'average' the market should rise again.

Prices of equips will clearly drop. I also love how you need to have zero slots on an item for one of the scrolls to work. You can have a rare piece of (makered) equipment with rare stats with rare darkscroll/whitescroll/chaos scroll success rates with rare potential stats... and it can still go boom with the use of a scroll or two.
Plus with the higher equipment and scroll droprate, I'm looking forward for average/casual players to get an increase in DPS.

If the scrolls are easy to obtain, then the average individual price of an item will go down. They drop from every monster, and sometimes drop pre-potential'ed, so I believe that items more powerful than what we have now will become more common. Most players will experience a boost in DPS, but higher level players will experience a bigger boost because of their larger base stats.
In short, I think that this game will become like Disgaea. I wouldn't mind it if we were all super strong - it'd mean faster leveling, and less item competing.

The Disagaea system scares me when I saw in Youtube videos how ludiciously high stats can get, and I've never played it. I don't know how balanced things will be on gMS.

I've been wondering...
You need to have zero slots in order for the whole potential system to work, right? Will hammering a zero slot identified item (rare/epic/unique) undo the ranking and force you to start over with another potential scroll + magnifying glass?

No, you need 0 slots for item RATING system to work. Potential system doesn't require 0 slots.
As for the loophole in hammers existing, they'll probably make it so you need 2 hammers to be used on the item and 0 slots for scrolls to be used.

Oh and second question, how many times can you use potential scrolls on an item? Infinite till it breaks? Or are the normal scroll-slots used for potential scrolls, and is that the reason why an item has to be clean to be scrolled with potential scrolls?
Anyway... I totally don't like these PServer like stats... it just ruins maple, the same way as people get bored when they reach lvl200 in maple, and quit 2 weeks after that...

There are 2 new potential systems added to items.
a) yellow potential scroll: Adds yellow stars to the equip.
Can be used on equips with 0 slots, with a maximum of 9 (10?) uses possible. Adds "regular" stats, like a chaos scroll, except it's from an equip-specific list of stats (eg. weapons get attack but other equips don't)
b) purple potential scroll: adds "unidentified" to the equip, followed by item ratings.
Can only be used once: if it works your item is permanetly rate-able, if it fails your item goes boom.
You just spend NX to try for a new item rating if you don't like what you get. This is where the % bonuses and skills come from. When you rate an item, it gets 2-3 bonuses, and there's no way to improve them except to reset the item to 'unidentified' and try again (which has zero chance of breaking).
Personally my feeling is that secondary stat equips will remain useful (when you have 60 base dex, +1% is worth less than +1 dex) Primary stat ones are gonna bomb (yeah, that same +1% is gonna be about 8 str since I have 830~ str already)
Putting regular points into secondary stats means more for the % bonus, unless you've got your equips set up so that MW bonus is required to wear them.

I imagine that Scarlion will be hunted more often than normal Zakum will. Since it's helms are level 80 instead of lvl 50 the Scarlion helms will have a maximum of +9% per stat added instead of +6% damage.
Also, Maple Story is still WAY off from Disgaea. There are videos of characters from Disgaea 3 doing billions, and in some insane rare cases, over a trillion damage. It's an expected trend anyway, only way to keep people playing an MMO is by continually upping the bar. Though I assume Maple will die off long before it becomes the norm for people to do over a million damage per hit of a multi hit attack.

I dunno about that, I mean hammers also exist in kMS, from the Peanut Machine, but you can use rating scrolls without hammering, I kinda doubt they'll alter the system.

They're definitely going down. I was working on scrolling a new Concerto, but now I'm planning on just hoarding the 70+ 30% gun scrolls I already have until we get the updates, and going on a massive Dragonfire Revolver hunting spree. Level 110 weapons will be about as good as Maker'd level 100 weapons, and have the chance to come already unidentified. Hell yes.
