Lllin's, unless you have SE/Thorns, in which case it would be Critical. But of those three, none of them are particularly good for gunslingers. Best to go with Cruel, for the weapon att. Or if you do plan on having SE/Thorns, Critical.

I think it'd be nice if someone could make a list that tells which ring is best for which class. :x
(Including Lilin's)

KaidaTan Wrote:Lilin's ring is an acceptable substitute for the Cruel Ring. In fact... Lilin's Ring is better than the Cruel ring in the one situation that I said the Cruel Ring was the ring to choose. Even if you don't have access to Lilin's Ring, the Crit ring still gives some attack and would be only slightly less helpful when you don't have SE/Thorns, and much more helpful when you do.

So lets try this again:

Are you an NL/BM/MM/Aran/Evan/Dual Blader?
 Yes
 No

Except that list doesn't include buccs.

The next Lolclass? I'd say the bonus Stun ring, correct?

I'm not too familiar with Crit damage stuff, but I can't understand why everyone thinks crit ring is much better for classes with existing criticals.

Take Sin for example:
Maxed Critical Throw: 50% success rate, critical damage 200% -ie half of hits have double damage (right?)

So without ring, average damage is:
.5 x 1.0 + .5 x 2.0 = 1.5
With cruel ring, 5% extra chance, 20% extra damage:
.45 x 1.0 + .55 x 2.2 = .45 + 1.21 = 1.66
With crit ring, 10% extra chance, 10% extra damage:
.4 x 1.0 + .6 x 2.1 = .4 + 1.26 = 1.66

Exactly the same extra damage, extra 100(1.66-1.5)/1.5 = 10.7% damage for sin.
But Cruel ring has 1 extra weapon att, so wouldn't that one be slightly better?
Or do I not properly understand how the stats work or made false assumptions?
Please explain the reasoning or show the math why Crit ring is considered better.

And that's where you're wrong! For just 5 easy payments of assrummaging you too can have the critical ring for your favorite buccaneer.

@ above: Lol. Crits don't double damage.

It depends on the relative values of the crit % and the extra damage %.

For an Assassin's 50% crit that does 100% damage, you have the highest crit rate and the lowest percent damage. In that case the Cruel Ring is equal.

But toss in SE, and it bumps that to
65% crit for +240% damage (+156%)
70% crit for +260% damage = +182% on average
75% crit for +250% damage = +187.5% on average

You could get both rings if you want that 1 extra attack solo, but anything other than an NL soloing is better off with the Critical ring.

That list's not perfect but it's not bad either. There are situations where a Cruel ring is "better" for a non-crit class without crit buffs, but its bonus is tiny.

Sooooo.... crit ring for my Aran is clear, but what ring is best for my buccaneer?

They still come out almost the same even with SE:

So without ring or SE, average damage is:
.5 x 1.0 + .5 x 2.0 = 1.5
So without ring, but with SE, average damage is:
.35 x 1.0 + .65 x 2.4 = .35 + 1.56 = 1.91
With cruel ring and SE, 5% extra chance, 20% extra damage:
.30 x 1.0 + .70 x 2.6 = .3 + 1.82 = 2.120
With crit ring, 10% extra chance, 10% extra damage:
.25 x 1.0 + .75 x 2.5 = .25 + 1.875 = 2.125

wtp am I doing wrong?

You're missing a 100% from SE. SE adds +140% to crit damage.

SE is 100% (skill) + 140% (SE) + 100% (normal crit) + 10/20% (crit ring) = 340/350/360%.
Or for something else, like Triple Throw,
150% (skill) + 140% (SE) + 100% (normal crit) + 10/20% (crit ring) = 390/400/410%.

No surprise there.

OT:
Guess I'll do a quick remake or some sh'it of my Bucc.
50 in 2-4 days is easy enough.
Gonna need 'dem rings for my Dual Blade and other future classes.

No, Critical.

What about pole arm DrKs?( Forget about lirins ring.)

Does it really matter? DrKs have a pretty high mastery, which means that you'd be killing in x number of hits most of the time, as opposed to x half the time and x-1 the other half. For instance, I 2hit COGs 100%, so crit rings of any kind are useless. With a good PA, I'm guessing it'd usually be a 3-4 hit there. 10% extra chance of 10% damage or 5% of 20% won't make a difference.

If you're talking about bossing, then with SE, crit would be better. I'm not exactly sure how crits stack with regular skills, but I'm guessing cruel might be better without SE/Thorns? Not sure, I almost always have SE at my runs anyways.
