We know you’ve been frustrated with the Cake vs. Pie event, but our programmers have been hard at work to make this event a better experience for you. Starting May 12, it's round 2 of Cake vs. Pie and these are the changes:

Now summoning bosses in NINE different channels!
When a faction has turned in 100% of the faction pieces, look for the announcement that bosses will be summoned in channels 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, and 10. Remember, turning in faction pieces in any channel will contribute to the tally in that town.

Victory is determined by the faction that has taken over the most channels!
To take over a channel simply defeat the boss in that channel or wait until the timer runs out. You’ll need to dominate at least 5 channels to win the battle.
In situations that result in a tie, the faction that summoned the boss will win.

Better communication!
Messaging has been changed to better communicate to players when a channel or map is full.

Less Lag!
Some changes were made to how certain graphical elements are handled so you should experience less lag.

The rewards are given out as before--you’ll have to have handed in faction turn-ins and be on the map when the boss is defeated, or when the timer runs out. We just have a lot more channels for you to duke it out now!

And what does all this mean? More of you will be able to enjoy the epic battle that is Cake vs. Pie!

This historic war of desserts will last until June 15th and to the victors will go awesome spoils:

- 50% EXP bonus when hunting in surrounding maps

- Town merchants will offer a discount of 20%

- Mini-dungeon access

- 5th Anniversary Insignias (can be traded for a 5th Anniversary permanent weapon and more!)

Members of the faction with the most claimed towns per server will have the chance at winning prizes like a MapleStory skinned laptop, iPod Touch, Flip cameras and much more!

Feast on the spoils of war! Get some NX today!

Snore. Doesn't change the fact that we can't pick which side we're on. Why bother with this event when pie is winning 95% of the time, all the time.

I mean great, they fixed the lag.

*waits to find out you can claim insignia's on every channel that the bosses appear on*

That would certainly make it easy to get those chairs. O_O

Make the bosses drop at least a few insigs. Jeez.

Nah, it should be enough that if you donate you can claim insignias. I understand needing to be there for the proof of victory but not the insignias.

Also, defending is going to be nearly impossible now.

I am VERY happy for this. >_>

Awesome, more maple weapon price drops. <3.
*waits for last day of anni/post-anni month prices*
Now.. to waste time hunting cake pieces or not for 10+ hours for a chair or not. Sucks cake doesn't drop from ToT mobs. =\. To skeles?

so wait, will all 10 channels have bosses summoned at the same time, and we have to protect/fight at all the channels? Or do we have to do fights 5 times in order to win, meaning insignias every 15+ hours? wat

When 5 million, or however many cake/pie pieces are turned in the boss is summoned on 9 different channels.
Lol at late night battles.. those are going to be prosauce solos?

Would kind of explain why the server check is so long. Kind of.

Less lag? How about...No lag! Man I haven't even been able to participate in this event at all. And training is still ridiculous from the Evan patch. This just made that lag even worse. Frown

Okay, what I want to know is, do we have to change channel for every boss summon or can we stay on one channel and wait for all the spawn to end?

Still not really interested in participating in this. I wanted to kill the cake boss, like how it would constantly spawn in ludi and whatnot D: Oh well. If you sit in the map and afk do you still get insignias? and I was disappointed to find that the Welcome back rings didn't benefit a party that the WB ring holder wasn't high enough to leech from D: Did I do something wrong or did Nexon actually use there brains? :f6:

Wow, I'm in awe. Nexon actually noticed one of their pineapple-ups and fixed it fairly promtly?? F'uck, I have one less reason to hate them now.

You could choose, though. If you clicked the NPC before accepting the admin quest over your head, you could just choose your side. WIsh I knew this before I got pineappling cake, though.

I think they should also address the issue of some people crashing the map. I've been hit by this several times along with a few friends. Occasionally, when the boss is summoned, MS crashes out of nowhere and I get the message saying "You appear to be missing a few files needed to run the game" or some sort -- no lag and even when I'm not near the boss. The only time I've gotten this error is when the boss gets summoned. Guessing someone is either crashing the whole map or it's just me.
Relogged 4-5 times because of this, and by that time it's already been too late to get anything.
