This is Adobe's response to Steve Jobs opinion on flash he released yesterday.

Yeah... stupid Apple...
Btw, the reason why they keep blocking it: Free flash games / applications = less Apple Store sales... such short time thinking...

Really, I don't understand the reasoning behind Apple's actions. FLASH IS SUCH A GOOD PLATFORM

Unfortunately no, it's not apple's death. Apple fanboys are one of the most blindly following groups i've ever encountered. Apple does have a few points with flash. Flash based navigation doesn't work on an ipad with touchscreens. Without a mouse you lose hover over functionality.
The major big video players that use flash (like youtube) have since rolled out apple non-flash friendly versions.
And i can even understand (but not agree with) flash cross platform apps. Because when programming for multiple platforms you program down to the highest denominator that all platforms share (which is likely to be lower than what apple alone can handle). That being said, System performance or no, battery consumption or no, usage of features available on the platform or not, flash should be the users choice.
In anycase though. I'm pretty sure apple could basically tell you what you were allowed to wear while using apple products (so that the 'unique, sleek, coolgeek' image could be portrayed), and fanboys would be okay with that. And don't get me wrong. I think apple makes some fantastic products. Pricey, but cool, beautiful, well functioning products. But as a company? I no longer agree with their policies.
I do think flash itself is introuble. They've lost a predominant share of the mobile market. And with html 5 and new video technologies coming out, flash needs to change.

Huh, I could swear Apple just had some of its best fiscal quarters ever.
Don't be stupid. They know what they're doing and it's obviously working.
I never missed Flash on my iPhone. He's right, even if it was on there, it'd be complete crap. Of course the same goes for the iPad and iPod Touch because they share the same system.
Hur dur.

If I would be given the choice of getting a $500 ipad or a $300 touchscreen laptop for free.
I would choose the laptop.
Mainly because many sites I visit daily needs flash.
9panels.com for manga.
itcg.nexon.net for itcg which I play almost daily now.
isketch.net once in a while.
mofunzone.com for small games that I play when I'm extremely bored.
Not to mention many anime sites that still needs flash to play.

Like any business, Apple is at it's peak popularity.
This is a bubble that is rising, and Apple is living in it. Eventually it's going to pop.
Nobody's on top forever.

And this is what happens when you try to have complete control over something.
What amuses me to no end is Steve Jobs calling Flash proprietary and closed as part of his reasoning behind not supporting Flash.

The bubble will likely pop when steve is out of the picture.

So overpriced that it's the most manufactured phone in the world. I think it's just you, bud. Of course there's plenty of other people who don't realize the entire smartphone market is "inflated" by your definition. I only paid $200 for my iPhone, and idk about you, but that's not a lot for a smartphone.
Oh, did I mention Apple AND AT&T have both sold refurbished iPhone3Gs for as little as $50? Wow, so overpriced.
@sicnarf: He never claimed Apple was open. Go read it again.

It still costs $30 a month for a required data plan. They don't sell refurbished data plans.

That's the smartphone market for the most part. Not just the iPhone.

Correlation is not causation. Flash could have made those quarters even better.

The point was in the statement. Apple doesn't NEED Flash to have awesome financial success, and if they don't like it or want to include it, for whatever reason, why should they?
How much of the actual user base is just crying out for Flash on the iPhone? I'm willing to bet a good bit of the whining is done by people who are just spectating and don't even own an iPhone.

I've had an iPhone since the december after the first one was released, and thousands of times have i had to rage quit safari because i couldn't do something flash based while outside.
Apple might not need flash to have financial success, but getting flash will only make that success even larger. Either that, or do it themselves.

They should do it themselves, if they think Adobe isn't putting forth their best effort (which is essentially what he was saying).

I had thought that steve does intend to reinvent flash after reading this, which is why i said that.
They're always looking to take over new sectors that might be gold mines, after all.
