Where are you guys at on your Nuzlocke playthrough?
#1
So I decided to go along with the Nuzlocke challenge, picking um Emerald for it. I was originally going to do Fire Red, but I'd rather wait a bit longer before replaying that. Diamond and Pearl are still too fresh in my head, so that left me with Emerald version.

Oh boy, this is the party I managed to get. 2nd Poochie isn't used because I didn't even want it, but it just had to show up in a spot where it's not even that common. Shortly after I got it, it's only natural that I bump into 3 Shroomish in a row, right?

So anyway, I got my first badge and decided I'd grind my Pokemon a little. I was so happy that I got an Adamant Whismur. All of my other Pokemon have pretty contradicting natures, so it was a relief that my luck wasn't too bad.

Auau~

I have to say, at first I was a little annoyed finding Whismur OUTSIDE of the cave that's CRAWLING with Whismur. But I really grew to like her, and she was hitting everything pretty hard. I accepted that meeting that Whismur outside of the cave was more lucky than I thought. Me and Auau- would be getting along better than I thought.

....Until I met... Skitty

I accidentally used Uproar from being impatient and tapping A like crazy. Skitty got hit pretty bad, but hung on with red health. I didn't think I had anything to worry about, since I still had a sizable amount of HP left. CRITICAL HIT.

RIP, Auau-

For anyone who wants to take the challenge but don't know the rules.

The original rules are:
1. Catch the first Pokemon you encounter in each route/cave/whatever and nothing else. If you fail to catch it, too bad, continue onwards.

2. If you Pokemon faints, consider it dead and release it.

There have been additional rules added here and there around sites to keep it more challenging. You can easily google up and find people posting slightly different sets of rules, but the first 2 rules are always included in them somehow. I'm playing with the additional rule of only using potions inside battles, because I feel that makes it too easy. I may or may not keep up with this rule, because while potions do make things a bit easy, sometimes you're really boned without them. I'll see how I go through.

I'm also playing with SET battlestyle. This means that I don't get told "xxx is sending out yyy, would you like to switch?"

So if I want to switch Pokemon, I have to use a turn to switch, and risk taking a hit.

Why am I not surprised you went with the Moemon hack of the game?

Off-topicness aside don't worry, you'll find a replacement soon enough.

havent myself even considered doing this (partially because i dont know the rules for it and partly because i just dont want to).

Was also going to go with Touhoumon, but I didn't want to play Fire Red again.

There's seriously enough Touhou characters for a Touhoumon? Ffffffffffffffffffffff--------

Don't worry, they're all re-used, but with different sprites and such. So there's Marisa, EX Marisa, Advent Marisa, etc.

I know there's an Emerald version for Touhoumon, but I don't know how hacked it is. I'd rather not jump into the game on hard mode, only to find they hacked the game to MAKE IT HARDER anyway. So I just stuck with the one that was a simple sprite swap. Maybe after this I'll take on Touhoumon.

Edit:

GRINDAN GRINDAN GRINDAN. Still too scared to go for my second badge. I know there's a level 19 Makuhita waiting for me, and I dunno if I can take it down or not without losing one of my buddies.

Everyone on my team dies, so the few pogeys I do have are overleveled. Doing it on ruby and have the following; A lvl 32 Combusken, 27 Gyarados, 26 Linoone, 20 Trapinch. Going back to Petalburg to put the beatdown on daddy.

I'm just working on this as a side project, so not much progress.

Beat the 2nd gym with my Seakitty. I almost lost it too, because Makuhita got 2 critical hits in a row and left me with 2 HP.

Grindan my team before taking on the electric gym. Freaking scared of self-destruct. I'm planning on sending out Seakitty to protect whenever I see a Volbtorb, but it's still pretty risky.

I'm suprised you don't have a hard rock/ground type. They're all over caves and take explosions like beasts. But SUCKS FO YOU.

I'm considering doing this on my old Red or Blue cartidge. OLD SCHOOL FTW.

^ I hope you don't go with Charmander, that's like a death wish by first gym on this challenge.

Never knew there were patches like this. Anyway, I started one on FireRed but I'm screwed at the moment. I thought I could get Nidoran before Brock but apparently not. So, a lot of grinding for now before I even think about facing Brock.

Nevermind, apparently Charmander learns Metal Claw now. Awesome.

Been doing it in Platinum (second playthrough). Haven't lost any Pokemon yet, and I'm really trying not to. Few close calls already. I haven't been playing much, though. I left off outside the Unown Ruins.

I was really excited about the Bronzor and Gible finds. I've never trained either of them, and they were both the first to appear in their routes.

My Cap'n had enough bulk to eat Volbtorb's Self-destruct safely, so I didn't have as much of a problem as I thought I would. Almost lost him to a random Koffing from some trainer though. I wasn't expecting a random stranger with Self-destruct, but luckily I had Cap'n out. He survived with like 9 HP...

So, just some slight updates. Grindan and such, captured a few new Pokemon that I don't really want to use just yet. I did decide to add one to the team though:

I was quite pleased that I found her, because I was hoping to train a Swablu but didn't think my luck would pull through for me. The only problem is that I had to take out my rock smasher to make room for her.

Oh, and Thanos evolved.

Sooooooo much HP.

Look who I bump into right after reading this post.

First rock type of the game I've captured. I'm more surprised that I haven't gotten a Zubat yet.

Yeah, I've only lost two Pokemon; both from critical hits. Aside from that, I've had a lot of close calls as well.

That's pretty damn lucky.
