Dragonite G1

Still not getting it. Increased challenges because:

a) You know 1 Pokemon out of 6 has a Choice item.
b) One of their Pokemon is a Dragon-type, so you should be prepared.
c) Too prepared for that specific Dragon, but not enough for the rest of their team = lolgg

A choice-item equipped on a Jolly-natured Sala with maxed Speed EVs is devastating if you've seen one sweep, or 'let' one sweep without trying to stop it.

You witnessed this at my hands Tongue. Still sounds fun, and is more balanced guys. This is just a contest for the sake of having a contest, don't gripe with the rules. If you don't like it don't participate.

Shame that everyone is prepared for a Dragon anyways...with a steel. Or a revenge killer or something.

I would like you to add some new rules that make it seem not like a typical OU match. I dunno, maybe like a shop system: If you use a NU Pokemon, you get 3 points, UU Pokemon, 2 points, and OU Pokemon, 1 point, and everytime you win, you get those points to "buy" Dragons for your next battle or something.

Or something creative like that.

On the "no scope lens" .... so basically absol and honchcrow are out of the question?

Super Luck is basically the scope lens of abilities.

(Not gonna participate, but I do happen to run a scope lens super luck absol.)

I need to do some looking into the OU circuit, but I'm up for this. I'm way more studied in UU and NU.

@ above: Razor Claw is the same thing. And honestly, I think crits are gay, but if you're making a pokemon entirely based on pulling luck, then I applaud how pro you are.

When I saw the words 'new rules', I assumed you meant more or less restrictions at first. I'm already trying to appeal to the community here as is. But since you mentioned using points, that's not a bad idea. However, keeping track of those when people post their logs can be rather tedious. I'll think about that though, any other ideas?

Also, the rules states that you must use a Dragon. Nowhere does it say that you cannot use an entire squad of Dragons, etc. So if I change it so that 1 person only has 1 Dragon as a minimum AND maximum requirement, I'm not sure if people would still bother to participate. Up to you guys to decide on whether I should change that or not. Also, remember that this is supposed to be fun and at the same time, giving you a new type of challenge.

@Shouri: I'm banning items that causes luck. I don't mind abilities. I won't restrict those. I thought about that earlier, actually.
@Kurtle: Exactly . . ;-;
@DualReaver: Gotcha. Adding you to the list now.

By the way, I'm signing up.

ClawofBeta - ClawofBeta - Smogon - EST

Other rules I thought of that I ripped from Smogon:

Only allow a certain dragon Pokemon(s) per round.

No STAB moves (gasp).

You must reach a certain amount of points with your team, ex. Trick Room = 5 points, Dragon = 20 points, and you must reach up to 50. Or something.

Ban the most popular Pokemon from entering the next round.

Etc. etc.

I guess I'll sign up.
Though it'll suck to have to adjust to having to add a dragon.

Interest thing you could Implement. When someone wins the 2/3 match's they have the option of taking and using one of their Opponents poke's.

Thinking of doing something similar to this

Too restricted, but I'll let everyone here vote whether they want this or not.

No STAB moves (gasp).

Taking this away is no different than to take Hidden Power away, both are commonly used.

You must reach a certain amount of points with your team, ex. Trick Room = 5 points, Dragon = 20 points, and you must reach up to 50. Or something.

Too much work to calculate (on my part).

Ban the most popular Pokemon from entering the next round.

This seems like a great idea, I fully support this. Let's vote for it.

Etc. etc.

So to all participants, please vote either Yay or Nay on all three:

New rule #1: After beating your opponent, 2 out of 3 matches and having advance to the next round. You are able to 'view' your opponent's team information, that includes all 6 of their Pokemon. [Copying only one of their Pokemon is kinda redundant, because you're allowed to change teams anyways, lol. But this lets you view your opponent's team, in case you want to make something similar, or same as their's]

New rule #2: Only allow a certain Dragon Pokemon per round. For example, 1st rounds will only allow Kingdras, and so forth and so on.

New rule #3: Banning the most popular Pokemon after each round is over.

Vote away.

Dusk, by the way, will you be participating? If you haven't, you should. You know you want to. Do it.

Sure, why not. I've never played OU, so I have a bit to learn.

Take your time, since I doubt I'll be able to set up this tournament til CoB finishes his UU tourney anyways.

Edit: nvm i don't want to be part of the tourney. Just read the rules.

Added. On Smogon right now testing teams, though not specifically related to this tourney.

Rule #1: Might be good for some people, but I know I won't be using it. Sorry guys. I'll vote yay for the heck of it.

Rule #2: Gee, I hope there's enough dragon Pokemon for all of the rounds...if so, then yay.

Rule #3: Sure why not. Makes the tournament more different than a standard OU tourney.
