The future of quests?
#21
Is anything more rare than Nependeath Honey? I'm thinking of giving up, but I wanted the Bone Helm.

You might notice that all these new quests where you have to find 30 or 50 of an item that drops very rarely are all ones that were made by Nexon of America. Quests in areas that already exist in other versions are just fine, but when NoA makes their own areas with quests, they make them as hard as they can.

Phantom Seeds aren't that rare... at least not for me. I found my seeds in like an hour, I've given away more than 50 to my friends and I've sold around 100 of them in FreeMarket.

Badges on the other hand... Stormbreakers took me around 10 hours just to get the 10 for the quest. : \

im "trying" to make the crimson arcanon, and besides the Tao problem, there is the 400 crimson wood's problem, i mean the friking trees are rare as pomegranate, have an even shitier spawn rate and rarely drop the dam wood ?!?!

Lets see:

VERY low amounts + HUGE spawn timer + RARe item = players going berserker with NExon XD.

really wtp are they thinking ??

They could atleast have made an area full of trees or something, the max amount of crimson trees you can find is in the path of strengh map , thats 5 trees and they take minutes to spawn, i know you can chanell surf but thats really pushing it Nexon.

I think there is a fine balance that must be archieved between quest dificulty and reward to maintain the player entertained and motivated to continue at the same time, this quest and many others made by NoA are the perfect example of how NOT to do it, but all is not bad , they have made some good quests.

A good example of a quest well done is the neckladge quest, in my view that quest was very well done, splitted between many sub-quest, with diferent objectives each, between killing traveling and colecting, the drop rate of the needed items as just right for the final reward, it took me a good amount of time but not to much , in the end it felt very good to finish the quest and recieve the neckladge.

Nexon, if you read this think about it:
Neckladge quest = GOOD
400 semi-rare crimson wood's with ULTRA SHITY spawn, HUBER-SUPER-ULTRA Rare taos that no one as seen yet and Triferium/Diferium (main item for new attack pots) as rare as nependeath honey = BAD

I'm glad they're hard. Just selling my deputy star and I couldn't have sold it for 140m if it wasn't that rare and I just had luck xd

I don't plan on selling the satr, cause i don't know when i'll be getting another pendant anytime soon...

But the killing of a whole bunch of rare monsters for rare crap isn't a good way to play a game. The way i figure it, my luck is better when i'm not hunting crap 0_o

I got 5 badges from the stupid storm things in like an hour... that's an awful droprate.
Nexon should increase the droprate a smidge, cause i killed well over 100 storm thingies and only yielding 5 badges is insane.

For the future: I'm content with this hunt for rare stuff, but PLEASE don't make the droprate as low as it is now. make the drops more like the leprechaun clovers and i'm fine with that...

@worthyness, just re-buy. Prices are falling and when they reach the bottom.. In about what, a week? THEN I'll buy a deputy star back. And still make like.. 120-130m profit.

I think the quests, in theory, are awesome. However, as others have mentioned, they've gone overboard with various things. I'm fine with the phantom seed drop rate to be honest, I think it's perfectly fine. I'm also fine with how many trees are supposed to spawn per map that they spawn on. What I'm not fine with is the spawn rate. When you can't "force" something to spawn by mass killing on a map (Like how you can force black squids to spawn on the lethal map by just killing enough lethals, etc), and the things have a horrid spawn time plus a horrid drop rate, there are problems. I have... 14? Phantom seeds, and I know that I've spent 2-3 hours hunting through maps that spawn trees. Channel surfing didn't help either, except to almost get my butt run over by bigfoot (Another small beef of mine with the patch) a couple of times. So in the end, we're left with being able to find maybe one tree every other minute on average if we're not extremely lucky. Hell, after killing 3-5, I'm lucky to get one in the next 10 minutes. There's just no realistic way to complete the quest in any reasonable amount of time (NX is not realistic, you should not have to resort to spending real money for a supposedly free quest).

As someone else above, I wanted to make one of the forging items. I decided to deviate from seed hunting since it was getting late and more bigfoots would probably spawn, leaving me dead if I tried to keep looking, and went after Crimson Wood. I spent over an hour, maybe two, in path of strength. For my time, even after channel surfing, I had two Crimson Wood, 1 more Nightshadow (Forgetting their name at the moment) badge than I had previously, a good 20 or more additional Firebrand badges, and about 2%. I'm sorry, but 400 of something that it took me an hour or more to get 2 of, plus other things? Besides, I don't even know if Taos are iTCG or not (I suspect they are), which would basically mean I stand no chance of making that staff. Every Hermit/NL in Broa will be after them, as well as any other potential forger, so eh.

I like the idea of the quests, I really, really think it's a great concept; I just don't think the implementation of it was quite as good as it could/should have been, especially if Taos are not something that drop/can be crafted. It'd be kinda nice if they dropped from Guardians, so warriors could bank to offset pot costs for training there.

As for the way these quests go in regards to the future of quests, I just hope they get a chance to see various feedback and consider tweaking stuff. I'd much rather have something spawning with a bit of an annoying drop rate than have something I can't even find to kill, much less get to drop with it's pathetic rate. The concept is awesome, that we can get good items with say, 20 hours of work or something. However, right now, it's more like 200 hours of work, which honestly is a bit overboard. These items aren't level 180 or something.
