You have your buddy lists imported and you can set your status in any way you want. Hell, the messengers on the other person's end will even display which game you're playing, if any.

On XFire, whatever status you set for yourself gets set for all messengers in one foul swoop. If you don't feel like talking to anyone, just set your status as AFK or whatever. Plus, if you want to talk to people while playing a game, XFire's in-game chat feature allows you to talk while not having to minimize your game to do so. It's very handy. Not to mention it also allows you to broadcast games, record videos, take screen shots, host voice conferences, etc.

I dont do all the shiitu that justin said, i dont broadcast usually, or record videos with xfire/take screenies with it. and i use windowed mode ... so i mostly use mine just to talk to my jms friends since we all use xfire...

I use Pidgin.

I use Pidgin. Have Google Talk, Skype, Xfire, four MSNs, three AIMs, and IRC running.

I used pidgin too until i never used messaging clients.
