OU Warstory: Stop Complaining
#1
Corn's Pokemon Battle Warstory

I was feeling quite annoyed with Pokemon. All of these goddang noobs keep on haxxing me to death with Critical hits, lucky paralysis, and while I miss with Toxic. So I decided to play one last battle for today, adjusting my team.

My team is a pretty decent Sandstorm team.

[Image: emespr338.png][Image: emespr330.png][Image: emespr248.png][Image: emespr245.png][Image: emespr376.png][Image: 462.png]

Special things to consider:

Yes, I am using a Solrock lead. Helps with my Sandstorm concept, plus he's so unexpected, people don't know what to do against him.
Flygon is Scarfed.
My Metagross is a weird tank Metagross which counters against a lot of Pokemon.
Tyranitar is Banded.
Suicune is a Crocune.

-sprinkles-'s moves will look like this.
ClawofBeta's moves will look like this.
other text will look like this.
Scores will be shown after each KO.

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause, Soul Dew Clause
-sprinkles- sent out Patrick (lvl 100 Starmie).
ClawofBeta sent out Solrock (lvl 100 Solrock).
Anachronism has entered the room.

Huh. Starmie. I used to have one instead of Solrock because Hydro Pump keeps on missing. I have a Focus Sash on Solrock, so I could at least get Stealth Rocks up.

-sprinkles-: gl
ClawofBeta: Damn
Patrick used Hydro Pump.
Patrick's attack missed!
Solrock used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!

Oops. Hacks strike. I swear though, that's the only instance where hacks struck, and this doesn't really impact what happened at the end of the game. Oh, and I said "damn" because I was at a disadvantage in my lead.
---
Anachronism: everything is so pointy
Anachronism: wow
-sprinkles-: lol
ClawofBeta: Ouch.
-sprinkles-: w/e
ClawofBeta: Reason why I swithced from Starmie to Solrock
Anachronism: lol
Patrick used Ice Beam.
Solrock lost 56% of its health.
Patrick lost 10% of its health.
Solrock used Explosion.
Patrick lost 90% of its health.
-sprinkles-'s Patrick fainted.
(5-6)
ClawofBeta's Solrock fainted.
(5-5)

Yeah. Still doesn't impact the lategame. Explosion was the obvious choice for me, as Solrock can't dent Starmie otherwise. I guess he could've switched into a Ghost, but then again, not a lot of people know what to do against a Solrock.
---
-sprinkles- switched in Flygon (lvl 100 Flygon ?).
ClawofBeta switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Pointed stones dug into Flygon.
Flygon lost 6% of its health.
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!
Anachronism: sprankles where is rotom?

Since he has a Flygon out, and he could Super Effectively hit my Tyranitar, I figured that he would figure that I would figure to switch out. So he would U-turn...meaning I can stay in =D. In the off chance that he Earthquakes, meh, Tyranitar is bulky enough.

Oh, and this is one reason why I lose against noobs. They don't predict, and I don't know if they're noobs or not at first glance, usually.

Flygon used U-turn.
It's super effective!
Tyranitar lost 31% of its health.
-sprinkles-: what
-sprinkles-: i dont have a rotom
-sprinkles-: on this team
ClawofBeta: 'Sup you got outpredicred
-sprinkles- switched in Lucario (lvl 100 Lucario ?).
Pointed stones dug into Lucario.
Lucario lost 3% of its health.
Tyranitar used Crunch.
It's not very effective...
A critical hit!
Lucario lost 40% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

I felt bad for him with all of the criticals I was getting, but it really didn't affect the game. I supposed he was going to Close Combat and kill my Tyranitar. Then again, he could Swords Dance up. I had two choices to make, though.

1) Switch to Flygon if he Sword Dances, then Earthquake while his +2 Extremespeed fails to KO my 56 HP invested EVed Flygon. Then again, he doesn't know that I have 56 HP Evs.

2) Switch to Suicune if he Close Combats. It would be a waste to switch to Flygon, since Close Combat would severely injure Flygon and Extremespeed would just finish him off. I'm pretty sure Surf can 1hko Lucario with a Special Defense Drop from Close Combat.

I supposed it was too early for Lucario to Swords Dance up. I opted for him to use Close Combat

---
-sprinkles-: uh great job
ClawofBeta switched in Suicune (lvl 100 Suicune).
Suicune is exerting its pressure!
Lucario used Close Combat.
Suicune lost 40% of its health.
Lucario's defence was lowered.
Lucario's special defence was lowered.
Lucario lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Suicune is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Suicune lost 6% of its health.
Suicune's leftovers restored its health a little!
Suicune restored 6% of its health.

Time to Surf...or wait. What is he switches to a Vaporeon or something? What would I do? I'll just play conservatively and Calm Mind up, then.

---
-sprinkles- switched in Shuca SR (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Pointed stones dug into Shuca SR.
Shuca SR lost 12% of its health.
Suicune used Calm Mind.
Suicune's special attack was raised.
Suicune's special defence was raised.
The sandstorm rages.
Suicune is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Suicune lost 6% of its health.
Suicune's leftovers restored its health a little!
Suicune restored 6% of its health.

Dang, I could've killed the Heatran right then and there. I suppose it was a very ballsy move for -sprinkles-. However, there's 4 reasons why a Heatran would switch to a Suicune.

a) Torment Tran. These are not that popular yet, and it's a bit weird to put a Torment Tran in now, as they're supposed to force a Pokemon out. I struck this out.
b) HP Grass or Electric. Unlikely, since Suicune is such a defensive beast.
c) Bluffing. It is plausible.
d) Boom. Most likely reason.

So, I decided to switch to my ghost...oh shoot, I don't have a ghost.

---
ClawofBeta switched in Metagross (lvl 100 Metagross).
Shuca SR used Explosion.
It's not very effective...
Metagross lost 27% of its health.
-sprinkles-'s Shuca SR fainted.

AND MY TANKISH METAGROSS SAVES SUICUNE WITH RESISTANCE TO EXPLOSION!!!

---
-sprinkles- switched in Bulky DD (lvl 100 Gyarados ?).
Pointed stones dug into Bulky DD.
Bulky DD lost 25% of its health.
ClawofBeta: C'mon man, predict better.

Dang. I think he's going to Earthquake. Metagross is more than bulky enough to survive an Earthquake, though. So I turned to one of his All Purpose attacks...

Bulky DD used Waterfall.
Metagross lost 23% of its health.
Metagross used Thunderpunch.
It's super effective!
A critical hit!
Bulky DD lost 75% of its health.
-sprinkles-'s Bulky DD fainted.
(3-5)
The sandstorm rages.
Metagross's leftovers restored its health a little!
Metagross restored 6% of its health.

By the way, I think I probably would've killed anyways without the Crit, as if you haven't noticed by now, his nicknames are complete opposites of what the Pokemon actually is...doesn't seem like a Bulky DD but more like a Offensive DD Gyarados?

---
Anachronism: those were some interesting switches
-sprinkles-: lol
Anachronism: heatran into cune and metagross into heatran

Interesting point there, but I have backed myself up.

-sprinkles- switched in Flygon (lvl 100 Flygon ?).
Pointed stones dug into Flygon.
Flygon lost 6% of its health.

Gee, Metagross is getting a lot of free kills today.

-sprinkles-: yea
Flygon used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Metagross lost 48% of its health.
Metagross used Ice Punch.

ClawofBeta: Tanky Metagross
-sprinkles- switched in ScarfTar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
ScarfTar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Pointed stones dug into ScarfTar.
ScarfTar lost 12% of its health.

Well Metagross, you've had a good enough life. Time to return to your Pokeball!

ScarfTar used Earthquake.

Metagross lost 19% of its health.
ClawofBeta's Metagross fainted.

Now for my free switch.

-sprinkles-: i have that song stuck in my head
-sprinkles-: its so good
ClawofBeta switched in Suicune (lvl 100 Suicune).
Suicune is exerting its pressure!
Anachronism: wake up
ScarfTar used Dragon Dance.
ScarfTar's attack was raised.
ScarfTar's speed was raised.
Suicune used Surf.
It's super effective!
ScarfTar lost 38% of its health.

Suicune restored 6% of its health.

Wow. I knew I should've invested into an Offensive Suicune to dent his likely Bulky Dragon Dancing Tyranitar. Tyranitar can run too many sets >.<.

ScarfTar used Crunch.
Suicune lost 35% of its health.
Suicune used Surf.
It's super effective!
ScarfTar lost 44% of its health.

Argh, Suicune can't survive now. I was hoping Crunch would do less damage. I guess I have to switch to my revenge killer.
---
-sprinkles-: yes
-sprinkles-: wake up by suicide silence
ScarfTar used Crunch.
Suicune lost 25% of its health.
ClawofBeta's Suicune fainted.
(2-3)
The sandstorm rages.
ScarfTar's leftovers restored its health a little!
ScarfTar restored 6% of its health.

Go, my first Pokemon!

ClawofBeta switched in Flygon (lvl 100 Flygon ?).

Flygon used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
ScarfTar lost 31% of its health.
-sprinkles-'s ScarfTar fainted.
(1-3)
The sandstorm rages.

Revenge, mua ha ha. And now, Flygon should be able to 1hko his Lucario, and this match is sealed. Good thing the hax in the beginning don't matter!

Oh, wait a second...

Note: CRE is rankings, basically. 1500 CRE is within reach of the top 50, 1000 CRE is pretty bad, and 1200-1300 CRE is average. The highest CRE right now is 1825.

Good job on the win. He was pathetic. I thought you seemed rude in the beginning with the prediction stuff, but he was a lot worse. Those are nice predictions though - cool that they worked out. Are starmie leads common nowadays?

Well, I actually felt a lot more sorry than it actually looks like during the real battle, but since I know what happened at the end, I kind of gave him no sympathy when typing the comments.

Starmie leads aren't in the top 10. They're viable, though. Solrock is completely radical and I'm probably the only idiot in the entire Pokeuniverse that uses him.

Stopped reading when he used STAB'ed Close Combat on a Cune. FFS. >_> Cune with Bold nature + 252 HP + 252 DEF EVs = enough to tank a direct STAB'd Rock Slide + x6 Curse + 252 att EV'd + Jolly nature Aerodactyl. So the fact that he thinks his Lucario could attempt to break near 60%+ of Cune's HP was pathetic. I wouldn't have even bothered. Waste of a Pokemon.

4th generation is pretty fun recently. But seeing SR+ToxSpike/REGspike+ProtectSPAM is pretty annoying. So I made a team to copy that. I purposely annoy others now. Fun stuff.

I *suppose* he was predicting I would switch Pokemon. Made me wonder how he could to 1500, though. That's like, within the top 100.

Please read to the end. Especially the end.

Re-read log. Guy's a goddamn n00b. People cares about scores, on Shoddy? Really? On NetBattle, it was SHAMEFUL if you had more Losses in comparison to Wins, because the scores auto-displays when you double-click on a username. On Shoddy, it's the exact opposite. You don't even see it. Unless you type in the cmd for that. Nice job on the win, strange that you would use a defensive Metagross. Is that supposed to be a physical wall (my first prediction)? Or a tank? Guessing the EVs are like either 252HP/252DEF or 252HP/the rest split with Def and Att/Speed?

I was expecting Explosion from Meta, I was waiting for it, actually. Good to know that you're not being predictable. That's how the Metagame should be. Less-predictability = harder to win against. People might disagree with me, but it's true. If a set is less likely to be predictable, the chances of you shocking them out of nowhere is extremely high, especially if you're seasoned and you know damn well what you're doing.

Welcome to the MetaGame.

Metagross is more of a physically defensive tank to counter all of the Gyardoes and Dragons running around. 252 HP/242Def/14 Spe to outrun some unknown Pokemon I have long since forgotten. He has served me well, although I admit I ripped the build from Smogon's StrategyDex (it was near the bottom, though). He has no Explosion. He has 4 moveslot syndrome X_X. I want to invest more speed to outrun Magnet Rise Magnezone, but I'm kind of at the limit with the amount of Defense I can take away.

Unpredictable sets are good for a nice surprise attack. However, there is a reason why there are predictable sets. It's because they work. I mean, Choice Banded Scizor destroys basically anything, checks everything, and heck, can scout everything, too.

My lead is unpredictable, but stupid, too. I can't really think of a dumb Pokemon to replace him besides Swampert, and I have to admit, I hate that stupid mudfish.

And Tobias, you can't "Nuke Boost" in Shoddy. If you're laddering, you're versing randoms X_X. I get haxed too much.

There are less predictable sets that works almost as well too, ya know. I can't give a good example, since the sets I'd be using are based off of 3rd-gen metagame, so that's obsolete information. Yeah, standards are standards for the reason that they work extremely well. There are probably sets out there people haven't even thought about either. I enjoy making my own team by using standards first to get a good grip on the counters of that specific Pokemon, then edit as I go along, or don't change at all.

Magnet Rise Magnezone gets pretty annoying. Too bad both my Sandstorm and my Rain Dance team eliminates Magnet Rise. Hohoho. TY@gravity.

Oh yeah, and there's an extent to which you can surprise people with unpredictable threats. I mean, probably every single Southperryian knows that my Metagross isn't an Agillgross by now.

I'm not sure about Gravity on a Weather Team, as Gravity is kind of like it's own "Weather" by itself, but hey, I never saw it in action.

Right, Gravity + Weather = lolwat. Originally, I intended Gravity+Rain Dance+Thunder for maximal damage. Then I realized it does not work that way. However, even with Gravity and a different weather on the same team, believe me, it helps. I can't recall how many times someone switched to Raikou or something as soon as I RD'd, so I sent out Jirachi to Gravity. Then just spammed Dynamic Punch like crazy and confused their entire team unless they have a Dusclops. :|

One weather negates the other, but it's helpful if let's say, you're using a RD team, but most of your Pokemon are Water-types, so you cancel it out with Gravity and use another Pokemon that can make full 100% use of it.

IE:

Jirachi@Lefties
-Thunder
-Gravity
-Dynamic Punch
-Whatever here [Personally, I have U-turn to scout. But you could do Wish to heal Jirachi or any other Pokemon]

Thunder makes good use of both Gravity and Rain Dance, if one goes away in replacement for the other, Thunder still gets a major boost. D-punch hits extremely well after Gravity takes effect, but it takes a while to set-up since I waste 1 single turn to set up Gravity. I spam D-punch the entire match, if DD-Gyara comes in, I Thunder the sucker. It's weird that Gravity+Sandstorm/RainDance being in the same team, but it has it's uses. Less for Gravity+Sandstorm since one weather negates Levitate AND Magnet Rise, as well as giving you the ability to hit Flying types with Ground-attacks, but you lose the weather-damage advantage over the other team.

I'm prob gonna remove Ditto (my 6th poke) eventually and replace him with a tank of some sort, maybe Regirock or Venusaur. He was instrumental in one fight, but he's next to useless in most situations.

That lucky ass paralyze on Venusaur was hilarious too Big Grin
