So I'm in the FM right
#1
All of the sudden I see one of those boxes in the middle of the screen, saying 'This is a GM. If you are present, please F2.' So I just did it, you know, whatever. The next message on the screen is, 'Your Face Stompers have been produced illegitimately.' The third message was then, 'Please drop them or you will be banned.'

It's pretty obvious what it was, but has anyone else ran into this? It didn't look like anyone else reacted to it in the room, and there were no effects other than the periwinkle border surrounding the box. I don't remember hearing about a hack that just sent messages to people.

It's possible for GMs to send those kinds of messages directly to a player (and only to that player, or players). It's been observed before.

Although... this makes me wonder of how did they know the Facestompers were produced illegit?

i dont think a gm would ask someone to just drop something.. if they thought they were produced illegitly, they'd prolly ban the account or delete them. highly doubt it was a gm

Well... I was thinking that too @ he could have banned him. Maybe the GM was being nice and considerate? Tongue

But again, only GMs have that ability to communicate as Nesso described.

Weird....It doesn't make sense that they'd ask you to drop them. You would think they would just remove them from your account the next SC.

I'm pretty sure there used to be a hack where you could send those messages to people.

It's a hacker using a Packet Editor, he some how found the packet and is trying to abuse it...And yeah Nexon would just ban you without telling you anything if the item was duped or something...Nexon does "warn" you that just do whatever they want, lol.

I seem to recall something of this sort as well.

What I would do, I think, is say "Become visible so I can see your gm hat" or something Tongue

...yeah @ I'm reading up on it from... places lol. Also... let's go back to something.

I don't believe it would be possible to track an illegit equip being traded around the place, wouldn't it?

Supposedly, every item has a unique ID or something, and doubles are easy to spot. The details are somewhere in a thread about chaos scrolls. I don't think my FS is illegit. The stats aren't good enough, and both of the extra slots are used.

Any other info, or is it just some harmless prank?

My guess is that it's someone packet editting to mess with the pop-ups from the party system. Ignore it.

If it wasn't legit it would already be gone, Nexon becomes serious business when it comes to things like that. -_-

hackers are becoming more and more uncontrolable as time goes on. I remember before, there used to be "seasons" for this, in which a new hack would spread out and then nexon would patch/ban. then some time of peace until a new hack came out. But now, there is pretty much a new f'ucking hack after every patch. its getting really... disappointing.

This happened to my boyfriend while we were training, and then again to my best friend just a few moments ago. The funny thing about the second incident is that we thought one of our friends had logged onto Dakuten, so she whispered him and he started sending her the map messages (obviously a hacker, who by the way, was not on the same channel as her while he was doing this).

Someone cried for screenshots?

 Spoiler

Also heheh, for my boyfriend's case, someone thought it would be funny to let him know his "account has been blocked until further notice," so we got all paranoid and transferred all of his stuff over to a few mules. Real good stuff.
