holyforest Wrote:Are you positive about not losing money? If I made say 5k, and I died, I'd only lose 5k?
Btw, is my roster good enough in your opinion to beat the E4?
There's no way to make 5k in the elite 4 so... and no, that's not how it works.
Each enemy takes a set amount of money when they lose. Lance ALWAYS takes 10k, as opposed to the half your money he took back in the day. Just equip an amulet coin to your main pokemon and as long as you always beat the first trainer, you'll lose no money.
There's also a failsafe: give all of your money to your mom then go to the elite 4. The most you can possibly lose then is whatever you make.
And frankly, I know nothing of team play. I just use a single pokemon and tank through everything.

I caught meself a Bashful female Magikarp. IVs are rather sexy for a 2nd caught
Tested at level 33 via Rare Candies and evolved into Gyrados
HP: 29-31
ATK: 11-13
DEF: 27-29
SP ATK: 29-31
SP DEF: 16-18
SPD: 29-31
I'm gonna hit the McDonalds around my campus for Wi-fi. It's getting too troublesome at home constantly changing my modem's network key from WPA to WEP repeatedly, or I'll just find out how to make it so WEP keys work for my laptop again.
I'm in the midst of fighting Bugsy, but need a 2nd Pokemon that I will be leveling for the Elite 4. Taking my sweet time just picking out the cremes of the crop from what Soul Silver this early in the game offers. I found a Bellsprout with an average of 22 for all IVs.

Thats a terrible attack IV.. Gyarados relies on Attack more than Sp. Atk.

Everything else is pretty sweet though. If I can't find a better Magikarp, this one will be the one I'll train up, because I can just patch up the ATK IV with 252 EVs. Even if I don't raise her, she's great breeding material.
Will Wrote:Mareep is an excellent pokemon
Caught 4 of them, and maybe catch 2 more so I can evaluate 6 Mareeps at once via Wi-fi.
Planned out my team, gonna pokesav 2 (because they evolve via trade.... and well, I'm not getting my DS+HG till the end o' year) but the rest will be fine. EV's and IV's don't matter much to me right now, getting through the storyline is.
The following Hidden Power Types are possible:
Ghost, Poison
The following Hidden Power Attack Powers are possible:
57, 68
Better attack and speed, but HP and Def are terribad, but the Jolly Nature makes it the fastest Gyrados out of the six. Gonna MAYBE raise this one only for competitive battling.
The following Hidden Power Types are possible:
Bug
The following Hidden Power Attack Powers are possible:
61
Bad speed, and Def makes Gyrados a bigger glass cannon than the others.
I like my Pokemon well rounded in their IVs, and the Bashful one stays strong with a spectacular average of 25 IVs, while the others fall below 20, and the average being 15-18 IVs.
I am SO happy. I just beat the E4 on my 1st try on a whim of luck, with only my Feraligatr left at the end. DD I guess I'll start Kanto after I train a little more, but boy, I AM SO FRICKIN HAPPY.

Do you get the credits and the hall of fame completion time whatever thing that was on the back of the Trainer Cards in Gen III, or is all that stuff after beating Red?

Well there were credits, and I got 1 star to my Trainer Card....I'm not sure about after Red...
Edit: Just a random question, but I've been looking around and I'm wondering the particular order of fighting the Kanto Gym Leaders....Mostly everyone I know has said this order:
Lt. Surge
Sabrina
Erika
Janine
Misty
Brock
Blaine
Blue
Any thoughts or suggestions about taking them on in this order?
'dile is such a beast! Soloed the gym + sprout tower without the use of potions/etc.
My planned PKMN team (via pokesav, heh)
Feraligatr, Tyranitar, Gengar, Staraptor (because pigeots are ugly), and 2 slots, most probably Togekiss/Scizor/Gyrados/Garchomp/DDnite/Electivire/Magmortar.
Damn, Dunsparce is usefull.
Glare on Steelix and just spam Headbutt to death. It doesn't do much damage but Steelix only has a chance of 20% to succesfully attack me.
Also I caught a Geodude for the Safari Zone thing, didn't get anything yet. I bet the ownership is just a joke.
Current team:
-Natu, Lv31
-Dunsparce, Lv 33
-Ledian, Lv 40
