Teen Pregnancy Rates Rises
#1

Something is very wrong here.
Teen pregnancy was never a good thing for the educational quality of women, so I guess our nation needs to try harder on keeping people less horny.

Well, its not totally fault of the parents, but fault of the girl who agrees to do it :/ and fault form the guys who ask them as well

"Abortions Too".
"pregnancies among those 17 or younger rose only marginally"

I fail to see the problem, unless you're going to start quoting Bible bull crap about how you should only have sex with your marriage partner, etc, but that has no place in logical discussions.

I'm not surprised, and I am rather aware of this too, but only in my local area. One of my friends has a girlfriend, they both have '2' kids... My friend is about my age, he's 21 to be exact. His girlfriend is about the same.. I've known of other guys that has impregnated their girlfriends or dates as well, in my area. It's pretty common here, nothing I'm too surprised of. But yeah, the rates are going higher imo.

Rather, I think that rather than trying to stop kids having sex, because really, thats an endeavour that probably won't reach most of the people unfortunatly becoming part of this statistic, more on prevention of pregnancy would be the way to go.

Then again, I have no idea what the situation regarding the above is like in america

I'm not going to say "use condoms" and that's the answer to everything, because the possibility is still present. My first time having intercourse, I was extremely careful, and of course, my ex-girlfriend at the time was fine. -shrug- As long as people are conscious of their own actions and know how to control their bodily-fluids, they should be fine.

I'd appreciate it if you would rephrase this so it DOESN'T insinuate pregnancy isn't a two person job.

This, too.

Well that's quite the generalization. Who's to say the girl didn't want it and forced the guy into it?

Now I know it's generally guy forcing girl, but my friends dated for 3 months and never did it- because the guy didn't want to.

The trouble is not whether teen sex is moral the trouble is that you have teenagers who are financially unprepared taking on a huge burden

No one that can be considered of the male gender can have a penis that small.

Teen pregnancy STOPS at 20. Duh.

Nevertheless, it's not too much of an issue for me. There has to be someone cleaning and working at malls too.

Wouldn't it be cool if you made a condom with carbon nanotubes+ latex? Then, it wouldn't break, no matter how rough the sex is!

This.

The situation, at least in my area, is changing. Sex Ed is a huge deal in Wisconsin, and there's a new bill in the state legislature that will hopefully pass, which would make comprehensive sex education up-to-date and available for all public school students. The courses would be optional in that parents would have the power to remove their child from the class if they wished. The classes would focus on teaching the appropriate lessons to appropriate age groups (starting with things like stranger danger in Kindergarten to abstinence in Junior High and pregnancy-blocking methods in High School), and then making available in safe, anonymous ways such tools like contraceptives and condoms.

In the end, I think this is a fantastic model for any area plagued by not only increased teen pregnancy rates but also spiking teen STD/STI/HIV transmission rates. As they say, knowledge is power.
