I enjoyed that thoroughly. And Horus, once you see the Palindrome, you're already on the right way, I just had to make it a bit more complex to avoid googling the whole sequence, the idea of solving it is the same. Only two keys needed, I gave one.

He tells them that he is about to put them in a room and have his aide put a hat on each of them. Each hat may or may not have a dot on it, but at least one hat will have a dot. They may not touch the hats, nor communicate in any way. The first one that correctly identifies whether his hat has a dot will become the next king. If he is wrong, or if he breaks the rules, he will be killed. Then he sends all three wise men into the room.

If two of the wisemen do not have their dotted hats, the 3rd person will simply shout and win the crown, hence there has to be at least 2 dotted hats. That being said, any of the two wisemen who can see 1 dotted hat and 1 un-dotted hat will be sure that his hat has a dot. Only one scenario will invalidate previous situation, which is where all 3 men have dotted hats, safe to give the call anyway.

And yes, that is why I'm interested in everyone's reasonings behind their answers. And no, if you're looking for a correct answer, I believe I am aware of only 2 solutions as of now.

Doesn't work if the list goes longer though, I simply cut it there for convenience. Good guess though.

EDIT: try my 3rd one, a bit harder than yours.

well, that solution is correct for the numbers you gave. if you give more, then the number of solutions narrows. that is a viable answer. give more numbers if you want less answers

There are 100 coins scattered in a dark room. 90 have heads facing up and 10 have tails up. You cannot distinguish (by feel, etc.) which coins are which. How do you sort the coins into two piles that contain the same number of tails?

if first person doesn't have a hat, and 3rd person haven't said "I have a hat" after a while then 2nd person will say "I have a hat"
if neither 2nd or 3rd person say "I have a hat" then the first person will say "I have a hat" after a long while.
