Combat step
#1
Anyone know the what the deal is with this skill? I've maxed it and I see little difference from lvl 1. Unless you're going on an incline or off an edge, then it goes uncontrollable fast and far o-o

Look at my position on the minimap

Combat Step sucks for normal use. It's only good for slinging yourself from edges. The good thing is, there is an abundance of higher platforms that you can shoot off from in MapleStory, so Combat Step will help with traveling at least in training. I don't know if that goes for everyone, though.

I for one appreciate the extra distance I am getting while using it on flat ground.

Didn't one Aran video show you can hop/jump right after a Combat Step to increase distance traveled on flat ground?

Yeah. There's a specific video showing you almost all, or all the mechanics of combat step. The best way to use it is off ledges (Or nath Big Grin ). Normal use is kinda lame and doesn't help that much.

I forget where the video is, but probably the "Ask an Aran" thread. Or try searching "Combat Step Aran" on youtube. The description is extremely long and it's like 5 minutes.

Just looking at the thumbnail image (Or whatever the term is), that looks like it.

I think it's great for normal use. I use it all the time. I think it flows really well with tripple swing.

Jumping immediately after using it actually cancels the speed, like using Wings after a badly landed Recoil. Best way to use it is to use it immediately after you land and jump as soon as it finishes.

i use it while training. when you recieve damage from a monster, your character will slightly bounce off the ground, that's the perfect time to use combat step for a further distance. combining with body pressure, you can travel in a map faster (increasing your killing rate) and still retain your combo (thx to body pressure).

works like a charm at map such as ghost ship, gallopera, and other 2 lanes or single lane map.

And people thought I was nib when I told them to max it.... :[
Spamming Combat Step on flat ground + walking is as fast as the level 50 Mount, on flat maps. (Such as the Orbis Boat station).
If you have ledges it's no competition.

combat step is very important to max IMO.
you can just max combat step first, then max booster using 2nd job SP, since polearm rush(final charge), isnt that useful. beside, lvl 12 final charge can push 7 monsters, that's more than enough i think.

What...?
Double to 20, Combo to 10, Booster to 16, Step to 15.
20 + 10 + 16 + 15 = 61 SP.
Exactly enough SP.

Who maxes booster...?

For those of you who don't know it yet, put Combat Step on a macro, and set that macro to a key. You get more precision.

Also, love the IGN Johnson.

Wouldnt that work with just putting the skill on a key itself?

I bet it works just like float does for corsairs

Non-macro: If you recoil, you gotta press float at the right time, or it won't optimize the distance

Macro: As long as you press the macro before you hit the ground, MS will automatically cast it at the precise moment to optimzie the distance

So combat step would prollly activate right when you hit the ground. Even if you're in the air and press it, it'll still activate. Pretty sure this works for rush too.
