maybe that worked in middle school, but simplifying everything to next to nothing is not how you go about making a point.

If it had made a scrap of sense that the analogy made by Jimmy Carter was even realistic, I wouldnt have posted it a-@

true, but on this case i will leverage Carter's damn fine ability to read political doublespeak (since he had to deal with it himself during his tenure) and figure out what it really means. Also, this isn't the first time a president makes a speech to the house medical reform, and this is the first time someone outburst in this manner.

It is also 'lol'-worthy how the majority of Rep. Wilson's campaign finances come from the health care industry. Rolleyes

africans enslaved africans, FIRST. slavery has always been a part of global history, and continues to this day. if you say some is racist towards black people and you mention slavery, you/they are truly ignorant, and, by definition, negguhs. the word MEANS "Ignorant," which is PRECISELY how african-americans act to "fit in" with the "ethnic culture" of their peers. its shown that blacks that act like whites are treated with a higher regard than those that act black.

races, like in video games, are DIFFERENT FOR A REASON! blacks are good at atheletics, oriental-asians are good in logic/data, caucasians are neutral jack-of-all-trades, native-american, eskimo, and pacific islander are the hardy race, and middle-easterns/sub-continent indians are the brains in math and religion. Whats really stupid in the end of everything, is that the senate today took time to have a vote, just to see whether they approved, or disapproved Rolleyes Waste of time :c|

This reminds me of something that happened when I was about 8 years old.

I was in school during recess and this black kid came up to me and said he was going to beat me until I was black, so I tell him I am going to beat him until he was white. I was the one who got in trouble.

Right, and by all means i give you that one. But. Another thing to consider is that the head of US immigration also said that while he was wrong to contend that in such a manner, but Wilson was not wrong logistically. Mr. Obama said that it would not cover illegals, the head of immigration said that unless the language was tweaked that it would. He said that the deficit would not increase at all, the cbo said it would, to the tune of 10 trillion in 10 years. He was wrong to outburst on all counts, and i agree with the statement in that article that said the reason he did it is a lack of filter between his brain and mouth, but he was not incorrect when he spoke. The president might not have realized that he was wrong, but two different, and both non-partisan groups have said that yes, he was wrong.

Even if Joe Wilson was right that Obama was "lying" (which is silly; even if the bill didn't specifically prevent illegal immigrants from being covered, if the illegal immigrant signs up for government help, they are saying "HEY DEPORT ME K")...

Even if he was right, which I haven't read from any bipartisan source that he was, that doesn't excuse his outburst during a serious speech. It's a respect issue. Obama's the president, and he's speaking, and he deserves to be able to get his words out. Other presidents don't even get booed, like Obama was, from DULY ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES no less. They aren't children. They've been hired by their constituents to reasonably advocate their constituents' interests, not to act like fools at a concert.

I'm inclined to agree with Carter. It's certainly telling that the first president to get yelled at by a representative like this in a hundred years happens to be black.

Yes, I watched the speech. It was completely inappropriate. Worse than a loud fart at a funeral.

EDIT: There's no excuse for a "lack of a filter between his brain and his mouth". That's PART OF HIS JOB DESCRIPTION. He got elected to persuade people reasonably.

Im not saying it wasnt wrong, trust me, i was watching it going 'wtp were you thinking.' The thing to realize is yes, it is part of his job description, but it happens, however sad and stupid it is. Obama is party to this himself. Do remember him calling an entire police district stupid when his friend was arrested, or him calling kanye a jackass. Opinion of either statement aside, he is the president, and as such should be careful what he says so damage control doesnt have to work overtime. Still no justification for Wilson, that was his own fault.

In one sense, it can be somewhat hypocritical for them to say much about this, since most politicians are corrupted left right and front to back.

What Wilson was saying that Obama lied about was the fact that there was no enforcement mechanism in the bill before he spoke, meaning that and Pedro Jose and Guadalupe could walk into a hospital and still receive care. After Wilson called Obama out, the Democrats went and added this enforcement measure soon after the speech (remember also that it was the democratic plan that was mainly being adopted, and was written without the enforcement by them.)

Now i dont know where you live, but in So Cal, it can be an issue alone in some areas with illegals. And would personally be damned if they were to put the bill through without the enforcement. Dont get me wrong, I think its fair that people should be able to migrate here from anywhere pretty much, but the fact that they do it illegally and then expect us to give them everything on a silver platter while receiving little to no taxes from them, thats just plain criminal.

I like how kids/teens aren't as racist as most adults.

It makes me think about how the world would be with teens as president.....Goggleemoticon

My ancestors lived in Germany during American slavery, and my parents lived in Russia during segregation and in its aftermath. I was born in 1981, long after the important civil rights legislation was passed, and I came to America in 1990. I would say something similar might be said for most people here. Not too many of us can trace our lineage to Southern slaveowners.

None of that matters. We are all white, we are all guilty because of the color of our skin. That's not racist though.

Every single race has committed some sort of unforgivable act.

And... My mum was born in Cardiff and my father in Plymouth, and I in Plymouth!
I came to good old AMERICA in 2000, 6 years after my birth.
