Movie Recommendations.
#1
So everyone starts school tomorrow, meaning I will have a lot more time to kill. I decided to use that time to watch some "good" movies since I've never been much of a movie guy. I am open to most genres, including comedy, action, horror (especially zombie movies), drama, and romance.

Favorite movies, in no particular order:
Byousoku 5 Centimeters
Toki wo Kakeru Shōjo
Shooter
Bourne trilogy
Pineapple Express
Grandma's Boy
American Pie 1, 2, 3
Dead Snow
Shaun of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead
Land of the Dead
Resident Evil Trilogy
Iron Man
The Kingdom

Gah, how could I forget Shaun of the Dead? I am ashamed of myself. I have seen Superbad and the Die Hard series. I'll look into the other movies you mentioned.

In addition to those:

My Sassy Girl (the Korean version, not the lackluster American remake)
Poolhall Junkies

Aaaaand the rest of my list would include Disney movies and more chick flicks, so I won't bother you with those.

ALSO, not a movie, but the TV series True Blood has currently got me hooked. Those are real vampires, none of this glittery Twilight nonsense.

Everything by Pixar, Hayao Miyazaki (I assume you've seen these), Quentin Tarantino, Mel Brooks, Darren Aronofsky (Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler)

I'm a fan of Tim Burton (Sweeney Todd, Big Fish, Beetlejuice, Big Fish, Nightmare Before Christmas, Big Fish)
Rob Reiner - The Princess Bride, Spinal Tap
Also love me some Mike Judge - Idiocracy (I THINK IT'S BETTER THAN OFFICE SPACE, SO SUE ME), Office Space, Beavis and Butt-head Do America
Unrelated, can't wait for Extract to come out

The original college raunch comedy - Animal House

If you want "good" movies you have to see Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Cassablanca, etc. They're very, well... good. If you really wanna go overboard, read up on German Expressionism and corresponding symbolism, then find The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and watch it. Do this before you watch any Burton stuff, and even Sweeney Todd might blow your mind. Also watch Rob Zombie's Living Dead Girl video after Caligari. And after you watch Casablanca, watch Out Cold. Funny movie. Another crazy old movie that's worth seeing is The Battleship Potemkin.

Stanley Kubrick - Dr. Strangelove, Clockwork Orange, and sadly... 2001: A Space Odyssey. It's boring as pineapple, but considered a classic. I dunno how I sat through it, but I did. The end scene was almost worth it. Almost.

I have a soft spot for Studio 4°C's movies too. Mind Game and Tekkonkinkreet. Love 'em.

Hear me out on this one. In Bruges. Please don't let Colin Farrell scare you away. It's an exceptional movie. Hell, I liked Colin Farrell in it.

Hur, you've got me flipping through the AFI and BFI top 100 lists, and other stuff like that, Rotten Tomatoes, etc. Just gonna throw some stuff out there that I've seen and enjoyed.
Monty Python's Life of Brian, Meaning of Life, Holy Grail
A Fish Called Wanda
The Shawshank Redemption
Saving Private Ryan
The Road Warrior
Children of Men
The Graduate
3:10 To Yuma
North By Northwest
12 Angry Men
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
The original Willy Wonka (Goddamit I love Gene Wilder)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Cool Runnings >__>
Glory
The Last Samurai
Patton - I haven't seen it yet, but it's the first thing on my list when the dorm movie room opens
A Scanner Darkly
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
Airplane!
American Beauty
Adaptation
The Truman Show
Shoot 'Em Up - Clive Owen kills a guy with a carrot!

This is a French film that's totally unrelated, but I love it anyway - The Triplets of Belleville

You got me digging through all sorts of best movie lists to amuse myself. Hope this isn't too much.
