This happens sporadically in Bera as well, and I'd assume all the other worlds. They go back to hacking it a couple minutes later.

Oh, I know, but this is the first evidence of a GM in Khaini since the Ola Ola event last summer.

Blaine Wrote:Oh, I know, but this is the first evidence of a GM in Khaini since the Ola Ola event last summer. No.... This has happened twice in khaini already in the last month or so that i've seen. And I saw GMs make a few sMegas a while back randomly and stuff. They're around, just not very often.

Or you mean -other- hackers go in 5 mins after that, when the GM enjoys all the "Thank you GM!!!" smegas earning Nexon even more money? :o

Probably the latter, but I'm guessing Nexon doesn't even hand out perma bans for hacking...STILL.

If they were doing their jobs, there would BE no hacking, or anything. I don't see the sense of congratulating the GMs for doing SOMETHING, when their job is to do that something all the time and effectively. It's like your broken umbrella stopping one raindrop while the other 20 million soak you through. You'll want a new umbrella.
Nexon doesn't ban hackers because it gets $$$ like this and employing more people would cut profits from their pockets. If the only way to make good $$$ off Maple would be to hire a sizeable force of labor, they'd have to do it. Also, to be perfectly blunt, there are very credible PLAYERS who don't hack, scam or any of that crap. Nexon could spend some effort, (like that'll ever happen,) identifying them and giving them volunteer GM jobs in exchange for some pay or even just NX or meso incentives. Gaia Online does this, it has over 100 unpaid moderator volunteers, and all trolls and scammers get nuked. I personally think someone like ExtremeBeast or KhainPriest, who are known by my whole d@mn server and who have been playing for like 3 years, would make better GMs than some random guy unfamiliar with Maple who got hired off the street and knows nothing about the game or its community. Some people are so obsessed with Maple that they play it like 18 hours a day. To them, this would be something they'd love doing, and it would be a legitimate job, where otherwise they are unemployed and not benefitting off Maple at all.

Well said. And I agree with the GM internship-like thing too. They should have been doing this for a while. There are a lot of people who would make good GMs.

Quantact Wrote:If they were doing their jobs, there would BE no hacking, or anything. I started laughing at that point and couldn't continue. There will ALWAYS be hacking in every great game. As long as there are people willing to take the time to get around the new anti-hack prevention thingy, there will always be hacking. It'll never stop. They can release new anti-hack programs, but someone will always find the one way to get around it, and the cycle goes on. So stop laughing at GMs. They're doing their job. Do you really want them to smega every hour or so saying "-insert hundreds of names here- have all been banned for hacking." They're like one of those invisible heroes. They do their job, you just don't see it. kthx.
The lists of hundreds of people getting banned got pretty old, especially when every channel of every popular training map was still openly being hacked. Autoban finally put Nexon's money where their mouth was, though it raises issues with legits getting banned, and now the hackers have bypassed it.
I am partial to the HT-eating-cheaters message, though. Adds some Maple mythology. And I know that GMs do monitor HT and Zakum runs in person sometimes.

Doxinator Wrote:I started laughing at that point and couldn't continue. I lol'd at your post, and the one you quoted. Both are wrong. You are right in assuming hackers will always be there, but if Nexon actually had a decent staff you'd see a hell of a lot less. And they'd be hacking at maps no one goes to, not Himes, HT, WS and all the other maps people visit pretty regularly. Why? because hackers dont want to get banned, if they felt that there were good odds of GM banning them due to reports filtering in from players, they would, thats right, HIDE. Not badmouth GMs in smega's while hacking HT at noon. And GMs havent been doing their job, until recently. So few bans occured other then autoban's it was ridiculous. Its pretty bad when i can report a hacker, come back 6 hours later, report him again(same channel, hacker still AFK i would assume), come back the next day after work, report again, go away, come back 4 hours later, report again. Log off, come back 2 days later, report again(always in same map, same channel, same hacker) Come back 8 hours later, still there, come back a day later, and he is finally gone. But, did he get banned, or just DC'd? And considering this was Snowman Boss map, kind of figure im not the only one finding/reporting him. Oh, and when i talk about this, it was actually 2 seperate hackers on different channels, though they remained on the same ones. GMs were not doing their job, or they were just doing it badly. Believing that hackers will go away is ridiculous, but believing that Nexon is doing their absolute best to control the situation is equally ridiculous. They really need to hire more GMs, for all of their games im told.

The only hackers they ban are usually the stupid ones who show off or hack in popular training spots. There'll always be hackers, but atleast some of them don't get in our way! :]
&&* Lately GMs have just been getting on to say things like "Hi Khaini!" or stuff like that :[
