Try running the setup for MS.
Also, to my knowledge you can only password-protect your folders from other accounts in Vista. You need a program if you want to password-protect folders and not let anyone be able to access it while on the same account. Acer laptops come with a program to do that.

It has to do with the settings of your graphics card. I set mine to run like that with the black strips down the side when not in windowed mode.

Passwording a folder? I saw that somewhere before on a website for tech-geeks like myself. . . Thought I am not geeky enough to know. I know that using 'Briefcases' disallows uploading of the contents within them, and doesn't allow you to link to it (Via iTunes for example). So yeah, that is good for THAT part.
Should I find anything, I will post it.

As for your black stripe thing, the problem is your graphics card settings. I've ran Maple Story in a VM, and it turned out to have those black stripes as well. As soon as I turned the VM off and ran Maplestory on my primary OS, the black stripes disappeared. As much as I'd love to tell you, I don't know which graphic settings you need to tweak in order to get rid of the strips. I'd just learn to deal with things.

It might be helpful if you provided your laptop model number or perhaps specifications of your laptop so that we can better help you.

right click your desktop, then go to settings, and then move the screen resolution bar to fit your liking.

I'd love to be proved wrong, but if his operating system can use his entire screen, then his graphics card is just having a slight problem changing Maplestory (at 800X600 native resolution) to something that's widescreen.
I've mentioned the My Lockbox tool in my previous post, but I thought about it again and the best way to password protect your files is to use Truecrypt, which is an encryption program. Not only would that make your files totally secure from just about anyone, you can use a Truecrypt password to secure all your files.

Lol, I tested that lockbox thing. Hid my file completely (Tested with a picture of Jessica Alba in a folder)
Couldn't find it anywhere, and entering the password in the program disallows opening it.
I extracted the program, turns out there is also a patch in it, that some anti-vrirus' will consider a virus and try to delete it, but it isn't. Also, no virus' in it. It's safe.
But again, it does not work. According to my experience.

This is actually how I run MapleStory on my laptop, and every application that has a screen resolution of less than 1280x800. Just look for the settings for your video card and change it if you want. On my computer, a stretched out MapleStory was incredibly ugly to look at, so I had it run with the border instead.

Well technically, to lock a folder, you can go through the hassle of putting it in a zip file and deleting the unzipped contents and password locking the zip file, then unzipping every time you need to use it. This wouldn't work for something like Maple where you are bound to access quite often, but it might for files that you use very infrequently.
