Homosexuality
#41
Ryuzaki Wrote:I honestly have no problems with homosexuality. o_o I mean, there's nothing wrong with it. I accept homosexuality because gays deserve to be equal as us, heterosexuals. Just imagine a world with homosexuals as majorities. Would you like to be picked on just because you're straight? People need to be more open-minded.

Some people, (such as myself,) have no problem with homosexuals per se, but some of them have to constantly tell the whole world they're gay and how wonderful it is that they buttsecks other gay men and then they make gay pride parades, etc. Some will come up to you and say, "Hi, I am Bob and I am gay." Others, (the militant lesbians,) hate men, call men "rapists," etc. It's hard to symphasize with such people. There IS something to be said about a minority having respect for the majority. I don't think they should have to hide their identity, but openly flaunting it is extremely annoying and it just makes homosexuals in general look bad.

those are the kind of gays that i hate, the ones who make people think that all gays are like them. online, i suppose i'm like this, but IRL, I would be one of the straightest people you could meet.

Just to add, those kind of people are as annoying as those that state that being gay is bad, just because they aren't. In fact, it's the same thing.

No, those people are just annoying. People who state that being gay is a bad thing are being intolerant. Intolerance is always a bad thing.

Yeah, I don't even know what kind of upbringing could put you in that position. How little interaction with positive male figures would you have to have. It's not just offensive to men, it's offensive to legitimate rape victims.

I don't mess with it. I'm more than okay with it. As much as I'm for equality, like I've seen, flamboyancy is a no-no. I hate it when straight guy act homosexual. Especially on forums. Especially ones I visit. Especially one in particular.

*cough*.

Lol@Quantact's militant feminists. Wee. Those are good for a laugh, too bad not even other women take them seriously.

That's what I hate. How the f'uck can you act homosexual? Homosexuality is when you find guys sexualy attractive, how the hell do you act like that without being gay?

Without being gay? Acting "flamboyantly homosexual" when you really are homosexual is even worse than what Leviathan brought up (Which is just a strive to seek attention/be different, all in all).

Militant lesbians try to become better than men by being more muscular and confrontational than men in everything. Many will dress like male automotive mechanics and cut their hair in a really short and unattractive fashion. Consequently, they just become pissed off, bitter, and filled with hate, and instead of fighting for equality, they end up fighting the male gender, and since men in general thrive on competition, the militant lesbians just end up flat on their faces. I can't imagine such a woman being promoted to CEO or whatever in a male-dominated corporation. She'll make an enemy of every man there.

I don't even know how you can ask that, when the answer might as well be common sense. Simple, all I'd have to do is tell everyone here, "I'm gay, act like it, talk about being it, post pictures of attractive guys. Nobody knows me, they wouldn't know." Or even when people I know think it's cute to say something that implies homosexuality even though everyone knows they're not.

Isn't it true a large portion of gay teenagers and (maybe) adults act straight when they're NOT?

Who says there are no such things as dumb questions...

The latter bit, ofc.

Does not compute.
Why is it alright to act that way online?

What I don't like is the gay stereotype. How the f'uck can you act something like homosexual? It doesn't make sense.

Assuming homosexual is an personality attribute of being attracted to males, how could you not? Is it not simple to pretend?

But I DO know what you mean, and I didn't mean it like THAT. No, people who "act" gay or assume someone is gay because they have a high-pitched voice or dress a certain way are wrong even more so. What I meant was simple acting/pretending to be attracted to males, nothing else.

Assuming a homosexual faรงade to gain attention? I was going to say 'no wai', but after some thought I guess it's possible. I mean, suicide is (wrongfully or rightly, I don't know - I have not studied this area) often described as being a last-ditch attempt to gain attention, and that's a pretty big commitment....
I was only wary of allowing the possibility because accusing an angsty teenaged homosexual of simply being an attention seeker would be extremely hurtful and demeaning. That, and it's one of the favorite universal assumptions about homosexuals in my area.

This is a bit of a tangent, but I'd like to discuss bisexuality for a moment.
Earlier in the thread, there were a few references to bisexuality in contrast to homo/heterosexuality. I don't think anything truly negative was implied, but in the broader community there seems to be a stereotype that bisexuals are either closet homosexuals that are too afraid to fully come out or are promiscuous and greedy.
Oddly enough, this prejudice seems to be more prevalent in the homosexual community (sub-tangent: this is probably because non-homosexuals don't care enough to differentiate between them), with bisexuals being accused of treason and 'polluting the community' (http://nymag.com/nymetro/nightlife/sex/c...ty/n_8301/).

Why is this/what do you think about this? also, *relurk*

Most stereotypes came from somewhere. Although NOT ALL act a certain way, a large part do (or the ones that we most often see).

Common stereotypes:

Black:
Big lips (genetic, just like many other genetic features for blacks)
Have a unhealthy obsession with certain southern foods (the slaves lived in the south and down there they eat a lot of these foods, as evident by these states being the "fattest" in the USA, plus they have a high black population)
Act "gangsta" ("white flight" has caused many neighborhoods to be left as crime centers. Sadly, most of those inhabitants are of a darker skin color, often times black.)

Jew:
Big noses/"Jew fros" (genetic)
Greedy (many people saw that Jews were in positions where they made a good amount of money, and/or controlled it. i.e. bankers, doctors, lawyers)

Gay:
Feminine (this covers a lot, and people saw many people they knew to be gay to like feminine things, etc)

Asians:
Smart (cultural. Many Asian cultures make sure their people do well in school)
Small body parts (genetic)
Squinty eyes (genetic)

[There are obviously MANY more stereotypes, but I don't think i need to list them all. Don't get after me for not putting in one stereotype as opposed to another.]

By no means is that a good complete list, or even true. However, it is what many people see in the majority of that group of people, or the predominant figures. Of course there are black people who act way differently or do not have certain genetic features. And that Jews aren't all greedy (this one, to me, has the least basis. I don't really think any that I have meant are anymore greedy than you or I). Also, of course not all gay people act feminine. It is just that voiced homosexuals tend to act this way to get attention (good or bad). Lastly, not all Asians are smart, have small body parts, or squinty eyes. But people have seen that the majority of Asians might fit into this category.

Side note: This is an opinion. If anyone is offended, I'm sorry. However, we need to see things how they are. we can't sugar-coat everything. Sometimes, you just have to say what you need to say without "softening it" or making it "politically correct."

tl;dr - stereotypes usually came from somewhere

Actually a f'ag is a cigarette:f6: or used as a verb which means to get tired out or get weary. It just now started being used as a derogatory term against homosexuals. Gay people are homosexuals.

Actually I am fairly sure that the original use for the word "f'aggot" was "bundle of wood." In Lord of the Rings the characters carry f'aggots of wood up the Mountain Cahadras. That's the original meaning. Now it's a derogatory word for gays.
