Any good WindBreaker builds?
#41
If you are going to CPQ all the way till 50.

Add 1 wind walk at level 32. its gonna save your life in there.

My KMST build went something like this.
 1st Job
Reasoning here is pretty simple: level 1 wind sprite hits 3 monsters, and it will be very helpful at close range. Since Cygnus training quests will take you to 15, it's not important to have a full on attack skill that early. Additionally, Eye of the Amazon can wait because this will keep the monsters you are attacking in range of the wind sprite. Since Focus is twice as good at level 10, that's reason enough to max it. While wind sprite is very useful in first job, it quickly loses its usefulness after level 50.
 Second Job
Storm Breath is going to be your primary attack skill in second job, so it's important to get it immediately. I also find Mastery to be extremely important for all archers, so maxing it ASAP is worth having to carry around arrows for a few more levels. Additionally, Storm Breath does not consume arrows, so Soul Arrow is a lot less important in second than it is for Hunters or Crossbowmen. Also, because of the range difference in Double Shot and Storm Breath, you'll find that DS is only used to snipe out stragglers in between respawns, so your arrow usage will be quite low. And we all know how worthless FA is for archers, so don't bother with it, except adding one for the animation. Dump remaining points into Thrust and Wind Sprite.
 Third Job
Level 1 strafe, with the adjusted skill tables, is more than powerful enough to replace Double Shot. Arrow Rain will be your main attack until 100, so max it immediately. Windbreakers do very well at the traditional rain-first spots since they can get rain faster due to the lack of MB and max it faster since it has a lower level. getting the transform is mostly for fun, although Magnum Shot is useful as a long-range mob attack even at level 1. You want to save points for the 4th Job skills so that you can max them as soon as you get them in order to make the most out of them.

Windbreaker is pretty different from Ranger or Sniper in that they spend most of their training fighting at extremely close range due to Storm Breath and Arrow Rain, so the long range single target attacks are kinda inconvenient due to the lack of mortal blow. Playing Windbreaker will REALLY make you appreciate MB.

Isaac, can i use your 3rd job build for my guide ? Ill credit you of course. Im gonna change the format though.

osht, necro post.

Anyway, I'm wondering why most people chose to max albatross. 30 w/m def is neglectable. Is it just used for magnum and wind shot (and the speed/jump)?

You can do regular attacks in Albatross,
and training with windshot+windwalk is 2x fast than training with hurricane at levels 100+

Well just a bit under 2x.
According to Rommmm anyway.

I calculated (don't have the numbers right now) that when you don't have SE, Wind Shot actually outdamages Hurricane. But with SE Hurricane is like 600% per second stronger.(This was with Wind Walk + Wind Shot.)

That and everyone knows that mobbing is faster than killing single targets most of the time anyways.

You can't Wind Shot and Hurricane at the same time.

I never said that :f6: What I said was that Wind Shot + Wind Walk outdamages Hurricane if you don't have SE. And that Magnum Shot is better most of the time anyways.

My bad, I meant Wind Walk + Hurricane at the same time. I assumed you meant Wind Shot + Wind Walk + SE is out damaged by Wind Walk + Hurricane + SE because I didn't understand how you got 600% as your difference. Of course, you just ignored the fact that if you can Hurricane + SE, Wind Shot will have SE too.

No I didn't. It still outdamages Wind Shot + SE + Windwalk, which is quite logical because Hurricane deals way more hits, which means SE has a bigger impact on it.

The following numbers are only correct if Wind Shot + Wind Walk = 1260 ms total(macroing Wind Walk AFTER Wind Shot has the shortest/most efficient cast time) and Hurricane = 120 ms per shot.
All numbers are rounded down.

Regular:
Wind Shot + Wind Walk = 350% + 40% * 3 *1.3 / 1.260 = 1207% - 124% advantage.
Hurricane = 90% + 40% / 0.120 = 1083%

SE:
Wind Shot + Wind Walk = 350 + 132% * 3 * 1.3 / 1.260 = 1491%
Hurricane = 90% + 132% / 0.120 = 1850% - 359% advantage.

Advantage of SE Hurricane over no SE Wind Shot + Wind Walk = 643%

You're still doing it.

HurrycaneX Wrote:SE:
>>>Wind Shot + Wind Walk = 350 + 132% * 3 * 1.3 / 1.260 = 1491% <<<
Hurricane = 90% + 132% / 0.120 = 1850% - 359% advantage.(< This means the advantage over Wind Shot + SE)

Wind Shot + Wind Walk + SE is still outdamaged, which you would have seen if you actually looked at my calculations. The "+ 132%" is SE. Rolleyes

EDIT:

Magnum Shot + Wind Walk: (if Magnum Shot + Wind Walk = 1100 ms)

Regular(no SE) = 550% + 40% * 1.3 * 2 / 1.100 = 1394% (outdamages both Wind Shot + Wind Walk and Hurricane (no SE))
SE(at 2 target) = 550% + 132% * 1.3 * 2 / 1.100 = 1612% (outdamages Wind Shot + Wind Walk + SE)
SE(at 3 target) = 550% + 132% * 1.3 * 3 / 1.100 = 2418% (outdamages both Hurricane + SE and Wind Shot + Wind Walk + SE)

EDIT #2:

If Wind Shot + Wind Walk appears to be slower Hurricane might outdamage it even without SE. The same goes for Magnum Shot, but it still wins if it's about 100 ms slower(no SE 2 target then becomes 1278% (550% + 40% * 1.3 * 2 / 1.200 = 1278%))

My Bowmaster is level 170 with level 0 Focus. I think I got by just fine. For most boss runs/some training parties, you'll get Bless, which makes Focus pointless (they cancel each other out). The accuracy part of it is never needed. The avoid would be nice, yeah, but all it would have done over the years is save me a small amount of pots.

It's not an important skill. Something to max if you don't want other things, I guess.

No, it's not needed at all, but what else are you going to do? The summon is even more worthless because it still only does about 300 damage even when you're in 3rd job, and it also has the bad habit of aggroing unwanted monsters since it hits 3.

maybe it's the Ranger inside of me, but i figure a little puppet earlier can't hurt. Or is it because i'm outdated and you don't need puppet with training till higher levels anymore?

Puppet is helpful with Strafe (and my Strafe/Inferno) builds. Now that we have Pirates, MP3, Windraiders, Typhons, etc you can spam AR all day and level much faster than you ever could back at MDTs and Squids and Gobies. Wind Archers don't have much of a reason to max Strafe anyway.

I just got to level 30 *yay finally 25 dex robe@!* and I put one into wind shot, next level is going to be 2 mastery and 1 windwalk cus I will be cpqing and it be nice to have lol. Wind shot is pretty unstable (I litterally hit 800 damage then it dropped down to 80 >__>) but it's a mob skill that replaces your sprite pretty much. I want to get bow mastery first so I can have a lil more stability. I'll stop mastery at 10 then get 6* bow booster.

Puppet is mainly for training at squids or bossing now, but it's still useful. Personally I'd get at least 6 before starting on the Eagle Eye skills.

AR builds are generally considered to be better (except at Windraiders, although Storm Break is still wonderful there) than Strafe builds now because of Typhons, although Strafe-first is still an option (although not the best for Wind Archers because of Wind Shot).

@ above: I still don't recommend getting any booster or soul arrow until late 2nd job (after Storm Break/Wind Walk/Mastery/Thrust); Break doesn't use arrows and I never noticed much of a difference between un-Boosted and Boosted Break, even with a Fast bow (even though the casting speed difference is noticeable, the delay is constant and can't be changed with Booster, so you only gain a few attacks per minute; probably like 5 or 6).

dont bother leaving mastery on even levels unless its the only thing your dumping points into because every even number only gives you 1 acc and does nothing for your damage

like, stop mastery at 9 or 11, but not 10
