NO THEY DON'T.
Anyway...it was all about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures in the 90's. Power Rangers came second.

I also played alot of Genesis...games like Sonic Spinball, Sonic & Knuckles, Strider, Paperboy;,Golden Axe I, II, and III; the SNES (Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat, Lufia, Super Mario RPG, and Desert Strike, to name a few), and the NES (every Castlevania, Dragon Warrior, Kung Fu, Super Mario 3...thinking about getting a Birdo tattoo).
When my mom could afford a Playstation for my sister and I, Castlevania: SotN and Final Fantasy Tactics were king.

Marginally-related rant.
When I was a little kid, there was a story about some guy who watched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and then broke his kid sister's ribcage, killing her. Toy guns in childhood are replaced with Smith and Wesson firearms at a more mature age, and it's gotten to the point where some people think semi automatics are required for home defense.
Everybody who speaks out against this stuff is labeled naive or annoying because supposedly everyone has the right to make their own decisions about this stuff. But it's not the 6 o'clock news or violent lyrics or Halo or GTA alone per se, it's that they all combine to desensitize people to violence from a young age, to the point where surrounding violence is almost like surrounding air. I think the "decision" people make in light of that can be argued to be likewise influenced. I am proud to be American, but I don't really know what to say to people from other countries which :f6: at the rate of violent crime in my country.

Beginning toys would have to be - Power Ranger action figures (Still have a crapload of em), Lincoln Logs, Legos (This is what led me to what to be an architect at a young age, but ditched that idea a long time ago), Playstation one (Spyro the dragon anyone?), Nintendo 64 (James Bond anyone?).
As I grew up - Pokemon (Both GB/Card game), Yu-Gay-Oh, more Legos, Oregon Trail (Holy pomegranate this was the best game xD), This one computer game where you control a bunch of kids through a mystery and the games were categorized by grade level or something. Dreamcast.
From then to recent times - Yu-Gi-Oh still, Maplestory (Since beta), Playstion 2, DS, and I still play with dolfies (Anime action figure kinda things).
-sigh- Nostalgia.

My cousin owned the whole set of die-cast metal Voltron lions, but when he "outgrew" them, he gave me the blue and yellow ones. <3

My brothers had oodles and oodles of Ninja Turtle action figures, but I loved Master Splinter. I actually think I had two or three different Master Splinter action figures, but the mutating one was my favorite.
OH, and a handful of these...
I had a lot of Barbie dolls as a kid, but I hated them. (They usually ended up getting decapitated or getting their hair cut.) I got so many because I was the only granddaughter on my dad's side, so my paternal grandparents got them for me every Christmas or birthday.
Also, Legos, SNES games, jump ropes (handy for tying people up), and oodles and oodles of stuffed animals I won from the crane machine at my local bowling alley.

Barbies, when I was older I played with Kelly dolls (the cute little ones that looked like they were 6)... Never got too into the dressing up, more the storylines. =) Baby dolls always creeped me out. Stuffed animals to the max.
I spent a lot of time playing with horse figurines, Grand Champions, Breyers, and others. I used to get one after every dentist visit that I got a clean bill of health, so every six months. Toys'R'Us was right by my dentist's office lol. Those horses had some long-running soap operas... I used to play them with my friend, too. We played together from like age 4-14. The rest of the time, we played with her pets or swam in her pool and played mermaids. Lots of imagination regardless. =)
I was never allowed to have a video game system because my parents thought it would rot my brain, but we had some computer games, like Oregon Trail (ftw), Pac-Man, and this old game called Crystal Quest for the Mac. When I got older, I got into RTS and played Roller-Coaster Tycoon, The Sims, and Heroes of Might and Magic III (best RTS ever IMO). I remember always wanting White/Black but we never bought it.
I also had tons of Legos, these cool sets where you'd build a marble racing track that could be like 4 foot tall (too bad the sets didn't mix and match!), swingset outside, the merry-go-round at the park and at Girls Club (we went FAST)...
I was really into crafts, too, like friendship bracelets and beading. I spent a lot more time on that than most of my toys. And then there was ballet, horseback riding, etc. Most of the time I'd really rather just run around in the woods and play make-believe games with my friends. The toys were for when the adults wanted me in sight and not getting into trouble lol.
Oh and I did the Pokemon TCG for a while, and I had about 8 Tamagochis/Tamagochi ripoffs, including a Pound Puppies Pocket Pal Pet (say that 10 times fast), and Beanie Babies of course. A lot of you guys are younger than me, so the big fads seem like most of what we have in common...
