Knights of Cygnus DPS
#1
which will have the highest single target DPS at lvl 120? In what order are they? will their DPS at lvl 120 be much different from their lvl 200 counterparts DPS?

I'm guessing Striker since they have a more natural crit and Barrage. But hey, I'm not a nerdy number cruncher.

Uhm, yes.

Otherwise making a normal charcater would be fairly pointless. I've heard a Cygnus 120 is comparable to a normal 130-140, not sure how true it is but I know they dont come anywhere near a level 200 in terms of damage.

It's actually more like ~150, but it depends on the class.

I'm not sure about the order but Strikers/Windbreakers/the fire ones (W/e they are called), are on the strong side.

Soul Masters are up there too, y'know.

On Holy-resistant targets, a 120 Soul Master outdamages a 192 Paladin. On Holy+Lit resistant, it outdamages all paladins.

On the other hand, it's only about as strong as a 13x Hero.

Why compare to resistant though o-o That's pretty misleading.

120 Cygnus characters are about as strong as 130 Adventurers. They have nerfed 4th job skills but something like 14 levels of extra AP.

Because the most popular branch in the game cares about the elements? o.O? The most played MapleStory class worldwide is the Magician, which obviously doesn't even include her Paladin example.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT, SOME PEOPLE CARE ABOUT MONSTER ELEMENTS

*gasp*

I understand this thread is about comparing the 5 Cygnus, but it's pretty misleading to not include information like DPS on certain element monster. That's like saying that as an F/P ArchMage I'm the worst bossing class in the game, which, while being true, doesn't change the fact that I can personally out-DPS most shadowers and 15x or lower warriors. The only reason then that I'm not wanted is because I can't HB or Dark Sight as a Seduce mule.

On topic: Good info, Stereo. I do want to play a Soul Master, but hey, if they're out-DPS'd by other melee Cygnus, perhaps I'll pick those up.

I understand elements are important, but that statement either makes Paladins sound like they can't hit worth pomegranate (even a level 120 can outdamage them! *on holy/lit res) or Soul Masters are incredibly overpowered. There's plenty of neutral bosses out there.

DPS is the last thing that should matter when it comes to Cynguses. I mean really now, Cynguses, for most people, are just going to be a fun little side project in an attempt to get away from their mains and try something the've never tried before. Are you guise not realizing that after level 120 you'll have practically nothing to do? When you get to 120 on a Cyngus, you're going to feel no different than the handful of level 200s that choose to play after reaching the cap; you'll only have bossing and questing to do (I don't see why you would quest since your main is what you'll be questing on/running back to in the end). I think I'll stop rambling over the obvious and get to point.

Level 120 Cyngus = Level 150 Adventurer; we all know that, right guise? With Skelegon Dungeons released, and Time Temple around the corner, getting to level 150 isn't nearly as difficult as it was in the past. Why on earth would you take your Soul Master's DPS seriously when some level 150 Hero (AND MY GOD THERE'S A TON OF THEM) could make your character look like a scrub with a few strikes of his Brandish? The only time your DPS is going to help you out is when you're bossing. Even then, your solo times will never get better, your skills will never get stronger, and if you're soloing something like Pianus, chances are some REAL Hero will come in thinking "Hey, this guy's a Cyngus, and I'm level 160; looks like I'm the winrar", and KS you.

DPS SHENANIGANS =/= CYNGUS. SHENANIGANS IN GENERAL = CYNGUS.

Seems to be the way they're leading things... Pianus is the highest level KMS-origin boss with any weakness, and PB is holy-resistant.

For completeness:
Resistant to all elements a Paladin has: 240
Holy+Lit resistant: 200
Holy resistant: 192
Fully neutral: 172
Ice weak: 146
Fire, Lightning, Holy weak: Around the level of max Blast (typically 140-145 currently)

I guess that should be mentioned for the Hero too, they need to spend almost 60 4th job SP to outdamage a 120 Cygnus so they'd again be near 140 before they can do it.

These also disregard the 2% echo of hero that Cygnus get, so tack on another 3-4 levels for that I guess.

Also note that not a single one of the new area bosses is weak to ANYTHING.

KMS hates element based classes I think.

This thread is really turning me off. I used to think that the Parent-Cygnus buff made it worth it, but since that as been changed, is there any real reason to level a Cygnus beyond the 120=150 and echo?

Watch KMS pull some s'hit where you need a high level cygnus to help kill the dark magician.

Blessing now works between any characters, you get the buff from the highest char on your account other than the current one.

Does that mean that your adventurer doesn't get any buff even if your have a lvl 120 Cygnus, but the Cybus gets a buff from your adventurer?.

Fun is what should matter from making a Cygnus. Lime from playing a new kind of race and learning more about the war against the black magician.

That alone is enough for me.

Btw, many ppl says Cygnus can't do bossing, so if there any limitation (besides hp) that keeps them from it?
Because if no, Soulmasters could even HT :f6:

Why would you HT with a level 120 that won't gain any more EXP?
