Reverse or Rebirth...?
#1
Well, TJ came up with an idea... What if what we thought was called "reverse" weapons could actually be a mistranslation and they're actually called "rebirth" weapons? Here was our chat:

<@blitzkrieg> hey
<@blitzkrieg> justin
<ShiKage> ?
<@blitzkrieg> on jms
<@blitzkrieg> is reverse in katakana?
<ShiKage> yeah
<ShiKage> riba-su
<@blitzkrieg> fff
<@blitzkrieg> hmm
<@blitzkrieg> cause
<ShiKage> Lol "timeless" is taimuri-fu
<@blitzkrieg> I was looking at it in korean
<@blitzkrieg> and I was thinking it could be "rebirth" instead of "reverse"

When I looked up the word "リバース" on jisho.org, it tells me this :
http://jisho.org/words?jap=%E3%83%AA%E3%...dict=edict

So, maybe it could be Rebirth instead of Reverse? After all, Rebirth does make quite a bit more sense than Reverse when it comes to the equipment.

<ShiKage> Rebirth Equinox
<ShiKage> Sounds better than Reverse Equinox
<+Baklava> Rebirth Concerto
<+Baklava> would be a fucking epic weapon
<@blitzkrieg> reverse just doesn't make sense
<@blitzkrieg> it's a reverse of timeless?
<@blitzkrieg> then
<@blitzkrieg> shouldn't it be like
<@blitzkrieg> -100 attack
<ShiKage> XD
<@blitzkrieg> a rebirth of timeless
<@blitzkrieg> a new version
<@blitzkrieg> with less stats
<@blitzkrieg> ok makes sense guys!

Can anyone look in GMS' data to see if it says it? Although, even if they are in the data, there's a possiblity that it may be re-translated before the patch for Time Temple in MSEA/GMS. What do you guys think?

Well, they're also reborn level 110 weapons, as most share the name (Carabella, Concerto, etc).

Concerto is a level 100 weapon. Dragonfire Revolver is the 110 Gun.

In our data, GMS, the string says "GMS ____", like the Reverse/Rebirth Carabella is the GMS Carabella.

yeah just use owl and type in carabella.

it will show dragon carabella, timeless carabella, and GMS carabella.

Disclaimer: as I've said in other similar threads, I don't really know the Korean language and it's best not to quote me on anything I say regarding KMS translations.

In KMS, it says 타임리스 ("Taimrisu") and 리버스 ("Ribusu") or something like. I get why Blitzkrieg could see it being transliterated that way (and now that I think of it, I see it too).

As for the actual word... I dunno. It makes more sense than Reverse, I suppose, but it still doesn't fit extremely well, at least to me... my impression of "rebirth" is becoming stronger, not weaker.

I think the true meaning of reverse placed in the context of the weapons set is the reversal of death/other means of losing existence. Fits the timeless theme, as timeless is basically equivalent to eternal.

Wow. I have no idea what you're talking about. XD

I mean, I know about Timeless weapons, but what are Reverse/Rebirth weapons?

This annoys me, not knowing. I read what I can about KMS, but I guess some things slip by me.

Reverse (or rebirth) weapons are the same as Timeless weapons, except they're 2 base attack weaker, much easier to get, and has 4 levels, whereas Timeless weapons have 6 levels and are only able to be forged by killing Pink Been and collecting 3 Time Stones and other materials.

Also intresting to note, the "GMS" weapons in our data don't have the level icons according to the MTS (Timeless do):f6:
