Snipe first
#1
(After one-point wonders and 9 SE)

A 13x MM with Max Snipe can now output the damage of a 15x/16x -other dps class-

I had been planning this build (with 6 SE however) since before the dmg cap increase was even announced since I knew things would change over time because of my slow leveling. Only now does it seem practical however.

Though honestly, my initial hopes were to have higher level monsters out by now with say 1 Mil hp and an equivalent hp/exp ratio to current monsters. Can't complain with the way it turned out though.

Personally kind of sad since this will be the "mainstream" way of doing things soon enough and I'm still not 13X Rolleyes.

you have to keep in mind that snipe hits 1 target only. so yes, at bosses they do the same dps as other classes 30 leves higher, but during normail training you only get a free kill every 10 seconds (4 in the future). During cooldown you'd still need to use your other skills.
Would I go snipe first if I had become a marksman after the updates? yes I would. but don't use the raw dps of snipe to give other people expectations that will not necesarily hold true on a common day of mapling

As a Marksman, levels 130~140 are a breeze. However, it's only a breeze if you're partying at Newties or, for the HP-washed, Skelegons. Anyone who maxes Snipe first is going to have a real hard time duking it out at deep Leafre by themselves, as I can assure you nobody's going to want to party with a Marksman with no SE.

Having Snipe maxed by 140 would be nice enough as it is.

My friend, who is actually doing this build,'s RL girlfriend / MS wife is a Bishop, so yeah, it's pretty easy for him. It's mostly for solo/duo bossing. I don't understand

this sentence. Who the hell cares about SE other than NLs Edit: and Buccs? (not counting 3rd job archers)

Everyone. I sure do. Just because Night Lords get their usual ridiculous/broken boost from it (As do Buccaneers), that doesn't mean it's nothing special to any other class. SE + Any class = Faster killing = Faster training; simple as that.

I get a...5.5% damage boost from SE. I don't even notice, nor do I care if an archer in my party neglects to SE me. It has a very minor impact on my killing speed that is overshadowed even by MW. SE + Any class that doesn't have intrinsic crits = damage boost completely dwarfed by how much the MM contributes with their own attacks.

Anyway, L> new skill table

A warrior in newt pt asked me to SE him, and I asked "Do you really need it?"
He said "No."

There is almost absolutely NO reason now to not get snipe first, unless you really want the partying capabilities with sharp eyes.

129 MM with snipe at CGs: 7.32mil an hour, ONLY BY USING SNIPE.
Me at 129 with near-max SE at CGs: 6mil an hour, and I actually have to do stuff and use potions (most people report lower than 6mil/hour too)

Why do you train solo at CGs at such a low level?

It might be viable to get after maxing SE, but Mastery or Pierce are just as good to get too, especially with the charge time changed.

You don't even need "pro equipment" to snipe train. The damage cap is hit regardless of what you have.

goddam MM so overpowered

Looks like all they did was change the level at which it starts dropping in 5 second intervals. Still no 4 second Snipe.

if you think you are everyone then sure.

the boost from se is only good for critless classes when they are between Xhko and (X-1)hko. doesnt matter otherwise.

so thats... not bucs... and not nls... and dks get a pretty good boost even being critless because of low multipliers and high hit counts. 3/10 possible classes care.

meh. screw se. Rolleyes

That chart is in seconds, right? Will the 5 second and 4 second cool down make that much difference?

As for what Greg was saying, maxed SE seems a symbol of status more than use. I know when I go zak, Im the only SE'er there, and they'd have me constantly hopping parties to give SE to the "buyer" party, even though the only person in there attacking is the shadower and dk.

Lol, no.

With this new Snipe update they just barely beat out Bowmasters on single target DPS.

5 seconds. we'll probably get the 4 seconds update a bit later.

Time temple and Crimson Guardians seem to be good snipe-first spots.

Nope, BM will only "beat" MM's at lvl 180~190+, from lvl 130~180 MM will "beat" them. That is, without Onyx Apples.

With Onyx Apples it's different though, BM's will beat MM's above lvl 140~150... (Snipe's damage doesnt get boosted with Onyx Apples). Same goes for ultra-godly BM's, the more powerfull a BM is, the sooner they will "beat" MM's at the same lvl as theirs.

Afterall, I would say they're equal now, because at all levels they're within 10% of each other's damage... Smile
