Two questions

Why do people block out/hide their ign's on forums? I don't get it. Do you people think someone is going to stalk you and say "WOW WHAT A NOOB!! YOU SAID DEXLESS SINS ARE COOL" or something? Then they go on "hey its a southperrian" thread and say "none of you guys will ever figure out who i am!!! muahahaha" as if people actually care who they are or something, or they're some famous person in disguise.

2nd question
Why do people quote the thread starter? Especially when they're the 1st person to reply to the thread. Do you really need to quote them? It's pretty obvious you're implying your comment to the thread starter if you're the first person to post :f6:. It's kind of annoying when someone posts a youtube video, and then the next person down quotes the youtube video. Now we gotta load it twice for nothing .

I really hate it when people quote the OP too. It's like, "Wow idiot...like we couldn't figure it out."

And I'm so renegade hiding my IGN. No one will ever find out who I am!

I hide my IGN so when I troll people on the forums, no one can KS me in game. It's how I assert my internet tough guy status. That and the fact that I quit gMS and don't really care. But most people are like FelixTM though; they just feel like lurking.

I block my mule's IGNs because I might want the anonymity some day, and also I don't want to be whispered or anything while I'm on them.

I also block my friends' IGNs in case they don't want their IGNs given out on forums. (I know a few people like that, so I figured better safe than sorry.)

Finally, I block out people's IGNs when I'm making fun of them for doing something stupid. Because I can at least be semi-polite about it? lol.

EDIT: I only quote the OP if I am replying only to a specific section of their post, so I only quote that part. Quoting YouTube videos is so dumb. -_-;

Because some people do not desire unwanted attention. Simple as that.

To address specific parts of your post, or to be safe, or because they feel like it. Sometimes it's not obvious that you're replying to the OP.
