[New World Record] Bera GMS Zakum speed run 1:48.70
#21
Difference between this and windia run? The 2 heroes. Huzzah.

Also, 1 minute runs in the future with corsairs? Crazy.... zakum needs a buff.

This run could've been faster, as there were several problems to this run.

The first thing that I noticed is that some people are missing. If you're going to run, at least bring accuracy pots and use all cures as soon as you're cursed. The misses quickly stacks up to lower damage.

The second problem I saw was that when the arms died, people weren't moving up immediately, rather, they stayed at bottom row for more than 5 seconds moving around before jumping. I think this is because of the weakness curse, but still, it could've been fixed if all cures were brought to the run.

Then when the right arms died, people were jumping over. It's so much faster using the teleports on the top row yet people chose to jump. Precious seconds were lost.

Then I noticed that DK afking up on the second row. Hacking? Idk. It seemed very suspicious. If he were hacking, this isn't a legit run. If he weren't, then still, he's wasting time by not attacking.

That BM on the second row also afked for half a minute. That half a minute was quite a bit of damage wasted. If that BM can do around 100k dps, that's a whole 3m damage lost.

What were the people doing on the right side during the body? They looked like they were afking. Seconds lost.

The last problem with this run is that many of the BM didn't bother moving close enough to Zakum for their summons to do anything.

Anyways, better luck next time, if no time is wasted, I'm sure you'd break 1:30.

@ Harrison

dragonmarish wasn't hacking. lol And TheMsThief is a NL, not a BM. I have no idea why either of them wasted so much time, though. You could also point out the minor flaw of a few of the BMs not standing in Phoenix range, even though they have their Phoenix summoned. More wasted damage.

But it's not like it really matters. I don't see how you could get 30 people to do a completely flawless run.

Your accuracy has nothing to do with how often you miss when you're under darkness.

Well it might seem tough, but all each individual has to do is get into summon range, move efficiently, and attack constantly (as much as possible). Essentially just no goofing around.

"In a perfect world..."

But for organizing 30 people over the internet with various connection speeds, it's good enough. At least until the next server that comes alone and beats the record.

Well, even so, he wasn't doing anything.

Woops, my mistake.

I did. :f6:

Yes, but minimizing the number of flaws is the key to getting better time. Also, when people are paying for Naricain elixers and such, others shouldn't just be standing around, they should contribute.

Which is why I mentioned all cures.

But you also mentioned accuracy pots, which would have absolutely no effect in this situation.

Could have just been lag, as 30 people can do that.

Oh...I see you did mention it. Did you ninja that in? I swear I didn't see it...

Reducing flaws, yeah. No problem pointing them out. It's just if anyone thinks a truly perfect run will ever show up, they're dreaming. Always gonna be someone that does something that could have been better.

Probably even less than that. By 14x a lot of the Corsairs are already out-damaging 16x NLs even with SE and apples involved.

Serious gratz to Bera though, but I expect the time to be lowered yet again in the short future.

That's fucking insane. That's about all.

Wow that's just insane.....literally.

Watch the Bera record get toppled in a month or so, lol. Probably's gonna get other servers ticked off to the point where they wanna try to break this themselves.

Come on guys, it's nice that you're setting a record and all, but just wait until the damage cap gets raised. Then someone somewhere's going to destroy the record.

*has not done any zekus-speedrunning math*

And wasn't the fastest Zrun time pre-fourth job only twice that long?

Grats to Bera?

People still take Zakum seriously? :f6:

This is impossible to overcome really. When you're put into darkness/seal the symbol doesn't come above your head for a few seconds, more than enough time for you to release a few hits, but they'll come out as misses if you're in dark, and potting cures will have no effect till the symbol appears.

When you're sealed, you'll see numbers on your screen, but others will see misses as you attack, until the symbol appears over your head. You don't actually do any damage. This is most apparent if you train at guardians, or watch someone train at guardians and you see random misses.

Refer to what Phoenix said. I guess you don't have much experience with warriors if you really think these lvl 17x+ warriors miss on Zakum and need accuracy pots.

Most people moved up. The ones who didn't and stayed at the bottom were obviously lagging, not because of the weakness curse. All cures were brought to the run by everyone; I can assure this.

Harrisonized Wrote:Then when the right arms died, people were jumping over. It's so much faster using the teleports on the top row yet people chose to jump. Precious seconds were lost.

If attackers were already on the top row, then yes using the teleports would be faster, which is what they did. If a NL is on one of the middle platforms, then FJ-ing across the body to the left side would be faster than jumping up to the top and then trying to use the teleport.

Harrisonized Wrote:Then I noticed that DK afking up on the second row. Hacking? Idk. It seemed very suspicious. If he were hacking, this isn't a legit run. If he weren't, then still, he's wasting time by not attacking.

This is called lag. If he was no-delay hacking, why would he stand at the middle ledge where Zakum's body isn't even within reach?

Harrisonized Wrote:What were the people doing on the right side during the body? They looked like they were afking. Seconds lost..

Yes, because people join a speed run to AFK.

Harrisonized Wrote:Anyways, better luck next time, if no time is wasted, I'm sure you'd break 1:30.

Better luck next time? There are always improvements to these kinds of things, but you speak as though we failed to accomplish something.

Congrats Bera. Completely shattered our 2:40 record in Bellocan that I did. Sucks that the DK was lagging, and the other NLs too. Would probably have hit 1:30. GOGOGO!

Harrizonised, it's impossible to tell whether you or not are the one missing, as the message telling you you're darkened comes up a second or so later. Unless you find an efficient way of sorting out your own damage with others, I don't see how to avoid it completely.

And some people lag, some people don't. I would assume it's impossible to make a run without any laggers like that.

I can always "feel" when I'm sealed at Zakum, character just responds a bit differently. Don't need to wait for the status to come up. Darkness on the other hand is hard to tell.
