JMS: The Countdown begins..

IsaacGS Wrote:The flame zone may be ok, but you still have 999 of all 4 Green monsters and 999 of all 4 blue monsters, as well as defeat Lilino and Dodo to get there. If you're an ice mage, that means going through monsters that are resistant to blizzard before you can get to the ones that are weak to you. The maps are all enormous, so soloing them really isn't much of an option. There are some warps you can use, but they don't help *that* much. Also, a lot of them have fairly high damage (The guardian captains were doing about 2.4k to me) and the range on their attacks is huge and unavoidable. If you mob them, you're probably going to be taking a lot of damage unless you can freeze or otherwise incapacitate them. You've still got to get through the blue ones, though.

Err, first off; Time Temple isn't meant to be easy. You do realize Time Temple is the current elite area and the high damage is meant to scare off people below 140? If you cry about the bosses to kill, the damage the monsters do; sorry but then you're in the wrong place. Then you shouldn't even visit Time Temple.

Btw, you can't freeze the blue monsters Smile Gotta stun all the way. A REAL pain in the ass, I've used all together 20 Safety charms just in the ice area of Time Temple - and I usually don't die unless I lag bad Tongue

ProTip: Get a Bishop in the party, it makes the quests pomegranate easy. I did 1 Quest together in PT with a Bishop and a Shadower - it only took 20 minutes... (to be exact, 2nd quest in the ice part)

IsaacGS Wrote:Yeah, they also drop some really nice scrolls (Overall Strength and such) but even at tespia drop rates they were quite rare. I guess this is also the only place you can get Time fragments for Reverse weapons, but again it's going to take ages to collect 45 of them.

Yes it is the only place to get Time Fragments, and it's just pure luck.
My first Time Fragment drop took me 5 quests, the 2nd drop I had on the next day 5 mins after I had started the follow up quest. And many other time fragment drops I've had quite fast.

IsaacGS Wrote:It's better than Dragon Scales, but not as good as regular ores. Equip rate seems like a fair comparison. I know most of the ones I found came from the Eye of Times, not the main monster on the map.

And the reason to complain about a 999 quest is because it's hardly a quest at all, it's just regular old hunting disguised as a quest. It forces you to kill stupid monsters you ordinarily wouldn't waste your time with.

And sure, the prerequisite quests will keep out some people, but for the first month after release the first map is going to be slam packed and actually getting the quest done will be hard because of it.

Pretty much said everything regarding this above already. Also, just so you know, you can avoid the quests to get further in Time Temple by VIP Rock / Family VIP warping to a person in Time Temple.

Why would the level 9x monsters be meant for 140 people? that doesn't make sense. That's why they're level 9x and not 14x. I'm just trying to stop the hype. This is going to be Showa town all over again at this rate and you're not helping. These may be decent alternatives to upper Leafre, but they're just that - Alternatives, not replacements. For the most part, this isn't going to be the huge change people are expecting.

which is all well and good if you have stun, but a lot of classes don't (mine does but I'm trying not to talk just about me here). Again, it's going to be pretty crowded at the initial release of Time Temple, but after a few months, new people leveling up aren't going to have it so easy finding a party there to help with the 999 quests. The fact that you've died 20 times should prove it's not a great training area. Even for a thief or mage, that's a full level's worth of experience.

I know it's the only place to get Time fragments, I'm just saying that doesn't seem like a big enough draw to get people there, especially since it takes so many to actually make anything useful. And of course it's pure luck, all these things you're saying are obvious. on the teleport rocks, that's pretty much irrelevant since it's not going to let you come and go as you please and there's no guarantee that this stupid family system will be out before Time Temple.

Eh? Skeles blast me for 3.5k.

I'll wait until we get Time Temple to judge how good it is for exp. The videos do make it look very nice, especially for Marksmen/Shadowers/Buccaneers.

The ones that were hitting 2.4k were the green level monsters. If they were doing that much already, I can only imagine how bad the red ones must be.

4k. But considering they're all highered level than Crimson Guardians, it only makes sense they hit this hard.

edit...just go to Cyanne's page and have a look at the "recent activity" Biggrin http://www.youtube.com/user/CyanneMage

 Spoiler

Lol, anyone wanna count the kills and multiply by the amount of exp gained per monster? :3

Compared to the amount of monsters we have to kill just to level up once, 999 seems like barely anything. With a 6-person party, the temple should only take several hours to unlock entirely. Also, I/Ls have skills other than blizzard, you know =/

The experience to HP ratio won't be as bad in JMS, since we do get the 125% increase in experience. It's 133k HP for 6670 EXP from Fire Guardians in KMS, while in Japanese Maple, it'll be 8337 EXP. That's roughly the same you'd get out of Skelegons in KMS/GMS/every other version with normal exp rates. In GMS, Skelegons are 80k ~ 85k for 4,500~4,750 exp, am I right? So, it may be a little less than skelegons, but solo for melee classes, it won't be TOO bad.

Fire Guardians : 133k HP for 8,337 EXP
Skelegon/Skelosaurus : 80K/85K for 5625/5937 EXP

So that's 48K ~ 53K HP more for 2400 ~ 2712 more EXP per monster when training on Fire Guardians as opposed to Skelegons/Skelosaurus.

^ But the 1.25x is irrelevant when comparing to other places, because everywhere in JMS gets 1.25x. Not just Time Temple.

@Above : Read my post again. I already stated that. lol

For anyone interested...

Rough Translation (It can't be done poetically like in the Japanese text):
The gate of the Goddess that manages time will be open soon and you will learn the name. When the noise is accurately mixed with the flow of time, the Magician who used the power of the gods will certainly regret breaking into the palace of the Gods.

If anyone wants to correct it, feel free.

Truly epic. Why can't we have this level of epic web design for GMS...

I just wanna see the faces of the Pro's who go up against Pink and realize his ridiculousness when it starts raining tombstones.

^ Because Nexon America is lazy. lol

Pink Been still hasn't been defeated legitly. KMS is getting awfully close, though. I guess we'll see in the near future how well JMS will do.

Wow at the fact that I just realized that there's a progress bar on that website. xD

Sorry for the double post, but the patch is tonight. Big Grin

I just love so much that it says "Thank you for patronizing 'Maple Story'" I mean, that entire sentence (and translation) is horrific but that part rules.

I will execute maintenance.

Google translated the idiom surprisingly well:
"Thank you for your patronage.

Maintenance will be carried out in the schedule below."

Although this part made me giggle:
"We request that you acknowledge that you are sorry for the inconvenience to everyone."

I acknowledge that I'm sorry JMS will be down, ok ok, I confess. Biggrin

Those 999 quests you speak of, do they have to be done every time you want to get to the higher maps, or just once? If it's just once... then who cares? It'd take like 2 hours at best. Besides, if you can't kill 999 of the monster, you probably shouldn't be in that map anyway.

just once. if you're soloing, it takes a shiitload of time.. and yeah, I know you should be partying for that stuff, but after the initial excitement of time temple wore off, no one goes there anymore. it's basically impossible to find parties.

Lol Screw training. I just want it for the new Reverse Weapons. I want a chance at finally getting a 90+ attack Knuckle... Not having 30%s is annoying as piss. Also, soloing at Fire Guardians won't be bad for something to do when I'm bored. ;P

Hahahahaha that's amazing. Especially because it says 'I will begin maintenance'. It makes it sound like we made a terrible mistake and now some maple overlord has to clean it up.
