Slots and +x are just stats on the item, there's no cap on either. The only reason they're limited is cause (until now) there were no scrolls to add slots to items, only to take them away.
I think a more pertinent question would be, what is the minimum stat item they will ban you for owning? Will they go after people with +6 on 5 slot items? Or only people who exceeded the 10 slots that *any* item can't go over.

We cannot be sure whether there's a slot-limit or not. Though I'm on Dusk's side here; why should there be one?

I don't think anyone should be banned for this, they should just fix the damn glitch.
And just saw this XD

It's a glitch when you get more than the number of intended slots, you have to admit.

(Which is the biggest issue, really) If you're unable to locate and/or the glitch is so extreme that it will kill maplestory as of today, the "only" way to fix this is by a rollback, I'd think. While this is true, I don't think a rollback will be very effective, since these more-than-maxed slot capes and shoes are only in the hands of few, and most of them are just 1-3 stats higher.
Devil's Sunrise Wrote:Last part, as for chair jumping and spell-jumping: These are minor glitches in the game, which does not really make anything unfair for anyone. The spell-jumping may be discussed, though if I were a Nexon programmer, I'd think that this unintended feature was a bonus, and a "gift" instead of an issue. And thus, wouldn't white slating be merely a minor glitch?
Devil's Sunrise Wrote:The other part (protection/spike), I'm unsure of because I'm unsure whether there's a check on their servers with the scrolls. If there's no check, this glitch will very dangerous for items, such as facestompers. You're able to give the items a lot of attack through the use of chaos scrolls. See, the problem is that Chaosing isn't cost effective unless you have everything else upgraded. Keep in mind that Chaos are 60% scrolls. 30% of the time, they add stats, 30% of the time, they take it away, and this applies to all stats individually. However, it balances out when it works to a net +0. Getting more than +2 on each Chaos is by extreme luck, as you have about an 18% chance of getting it on your desired stat. Getting 18% chance on 5 slots isn't very high, thus, it would not be as gamebreaking as you'd imagine it to be.
Devil's Sunrise Wrote:yeah, this issue should be addressed as soon as possible. Since Nexon-programmers (or technicians) has all the data in a database, they could eventually search up items having more slots, or worked scrolls, than possible. I do agree that this would be somewhat hard if they have no searching-algorithm yet, but that's the only way finding people effectively abusing this part of the glitch. Somehow, I highly doubt they have all the items in the database. If they did, then last year's duping scheme would not have worked. Also, if they had all the items in the database, why did they not attach item IDs to each one of them?

Sivrat Wrote:you know, im suprised no one brought this up, or suggested it, or w/e. Since the glitch has been exposed, it isnt really more cost effective anymore, but when clean slates are like pretty darn cheap, it is more effective doing this. If you land a bunch of 30s, lets say 4, on an weapon that is well above average. If you want a perfect weapon, the option before was to use whitescrolls with every slot, 10%ing, which would cost the price, on a loose average, 30 white scrolls. But, if you 10% each of the last slots, if you dont want to risk it. More then likely end up with +4, right? Then you use the glitch to get those 3 slots back, and repeat. Granted, it wont save a lot of money, especially if you arent lucky, but you wont lose white scroll whenever the 10% works. Im tired, and dont feel like doing math, but it should take on a loose average 10 tries to land a 10%, so each slot will use 9 white scrolls and 9 clean slates instead of 10 white scrolls. Im pretty sure, before the mass inflation on clean slates, 9 of them were cheaper then 1 white scrolls, and more common too. The increase in perfect items is actually due to less white scrolls being needed. albeit, not that much less. This, plus, you dont have to be the one who did the landing of the 10/30%s in the first place, just have to get slots back and redo. LOLOLOL! How would using this save you one white scroll? The scroll is still 10%, meaning you still have to do whatever you have to do 10 times to get the slot.

Eh, IMO "fair" would be for them to straight up delete any affected items, and replace them with clean ones, or if they have unique IDs, roll them back a month.

1) use 10% scroll
2) white + clean slate if it fails
End result: 9 white scrolls + 9 clean slate + 10 10%s per success (on average)
If it works, you don't need to use a white scroll.

1) use 10% with white scroll

Also, it's not cost effective as 1% scrolls are 300m now.

My definition of "fair" includes "no glitch abuse".
If you use a glitch, you have an unfair advantage, and an equal and opposite disadvantage should be your reward. In this case, loss of the glitched item.
ps. If you don't understand my 2nd point, don't try to argue that it's wrong.

No. It is not an "unequal advantage". 480m for 1~3 extra stats isn't a very high advantage, and even so, it's available to all, not just to you, not just to certain classes, and not only that, it doesn't give you much at all for the amount of money channeled into it.
Since it is available to all however, then it is not an "unfair" advantage.

Cool justification, bro.
Yeah, this glitch is available to everyone. Your point? Doesn't change that it's an advantage gained from using a glitch. It's different than buying a new weapon that's a few stats better. This is making items better in a way that isn't supposed to be possible.
And before you respond, give me something better than "no u! assumptions!" Okay?

Harrisonized Wrote:LOLOLOL! How would using this save you one white scroll? The scroll is still 10%, meaning you still have to do whatever you have to do 10 times to get the slot. I'll explain it slowly for you. If you have a good item with 3 slots left, you can either finish it with 10%+white scrolls, or you can throw 10%'s on all 3 slots and use white+clean slate on the remaining slots.
Lets say you throw 10%+white scrolls on the item and one work. You now have a 2 slot item that costed 3 10%'s and 3 white scrolls to add that extra 5 attack or whatever.
Now, if you chuck 3 10%'s at the item and clean slate+white afterwords, it works differently. Lets say you scroll the item with the 3 10%'s and one of them works (just like the above scenario). To get the item back to 2 slots, you'll need to use 2 clean slates and 2 white scrolls. And thus you've ended up with the same item as above. As you can see, this scenario would have been cheaper (if clean slates hadn't inflated already) because even though it costs 2 clean slates more, it costs 1 less white scroll.

Well, it all obviously depends whether this glitch will kill MapleStory or not like the pickpocket-error. I don't think it will.
And yes, white slating would for me not be a big issue, though fixing it wouldn't be too stupid, as it kills the reason to get slates without white scrolls. On the other hand, capes and shoes with a lot of stats (say, a 30 int cape) would for me be overkill. And though given the fact that a chaos cape or shoe have low rates of becoming good, the chance's still there.
Thing is, they have the items in a database. How it's stored, I'm unsure of. However, what I do know, is that when you log on on another computer than you normally use, your items are still there. Thus, it must be on a server, written in a database. Maybe not as easy to drag out from the server that they would like to, but it has to be there somewhere, lol.
And that slating-thing:
10 10%s before a slot is working, all with white scrolls requires 10 white scrolls.
10 10% and slating if a slot is failing would only require 9 white scrolls.
(Either way, slates have a boom-rate, and I don't like that boom-rate even if it's almost nonexistant)
Oh, and yeah, if they are actually able to locate the white-protection/spiked items:
Remove bonus(es), and add same amount of scrolls, white scrolls and spike/protection-scrolls.

per slot, the % chance of 10% working is the same, so on average you use one less white scroll(i.e. the one for the time the 10% worked) then you would have. And yeah, like i mentioned in my first post, its not cost effective now with clean slates being extremely costly.
I dont think this glitch has affected khaini, much, if at all. I saw an unsold clean slate 3%(may have been 5%) for 100mil, and cape cold protect for 20. Then again, our server doesnt have as many white scrolls floating around that other servers do. Or as many near perfect items.

What the f'uck is that quote doing in your signature?
And no, it's no different because in both, you are simply upgrading an equip without changing anything that's available to you.
KaidaTan, you do know that clean slates have a chance of exploding right? Why would you risk that when you don't have to?

Whoa, don't get so full of yourself now. I have no goals involving you.
The sad thing is that there is a difference. Normally, you only have so many options to improve stats. A) Scroll yourself a better item. B) Clean Slate an item of yours and try improving it. C) Make a perfect 10% + Whites item. D) Buy from another person who used said methods. However you want to spin it, that's how it goes. That's how to get better stats gear.
Now you're bringing in an option E), which is using a glitch with White scrolls to add any number of slots to items. It's always been set in stone that items have as many slots as their number implies. That's what it's there for. There has never been anything that adds completely new slots to items. If there was, it'd be a "+slot scroll" or something that is intended for it to happen--not a glitch with White scrolls.

Lol, I love how you argue just because you did this yourself.
Nexon clearly stated in the ToS that playing the game in a non-intended way is hacking.
Nexon Wrote:Using a macro, third-party program, or physical method to play the game in a repetitive manner is considered botting. Using physical means to bot could include using coins or staplers to hold down a key. There is no difference between that and a macro that holds down the control button. Botting is considered a similar offense as hacking in that it uses illegal means to play the game in a manner that is not intended by the creators. In other words, botting is just as bad. =) Though it isn't directly stated to glitching, it is stated that playing the game in a manner that was not part of the game, then it is hacking. Exploiting errors in the design is the definition of Glitching. Using this glitch to your advantage (even if it is only 1 int. 1 int =/= Nothing.), is abusing it. It is obviously not intended, especially based on the descriptions of the items. When you write to nexon, asking if it's a glitch or not, THEN I will believe you. For Now, it's obviously a glitch.
Modifying the software in any way, is hacking. BUT, according to nexon, abusing a glitch = hacking. I'm just relaying the message.

Playing the game in a way it was not intended to be played = unfair, regardless how it is done.
It's not "available" to anyone who plays in the manner intended by Nexon.
The only excuse for exploiting a glitch is for demonstration purposes - and it should be done in a way which minimizes impact, and eliminates all doubt that the glitch exists.
