Does this spells the end of leechers?
#61
Quote:As far as I am concerned leeching is annoying yes but most people who leech end up dying later off in 4th job from my experience with them. I was passed from 8x-12x by leechers because I solo trained on 2x. But right now I look back at those people and they're not playing and I am.

Are you sure these aren't secondary characters that were quit because they went off and made yet another character?

I think his point is they reach one point where they have to train themselves, and have trouble getting past that period, so even if they quit for another character, they'll still reach that point, and the high-high end levels are truly only obtained by the ones who train for it.

And Bishops and AMs too, no offense to them, lol.

While spamming ulitmates does not take AS MUCH skill as other classes.
It certainly takes time still.
And a bit of TIMING too.
BUT MAN IS IT FAST 120-121 was like 3 hoursGlitter

I am waiting for some decent third-job numbers, but I am nervous that this means the end of priests and full-attacker parties. =/

Not to mention basically being an HS-mule (that attacks only enough to leech and heals if the attacker isn't Zerking) for a 4th job character, which is pretty much the only way I can play with some of my friends right now...

In my opinion, the best way to stop leeching without ruining party exp is:
You have to be within 20-30 lvls of the character to leech. This would not stop the high level characters from leeching but it will stop lvl 78s from leeching lvl 140s. And the party exp would be increased to encourage partys.

I think it's fine if a low level character leeches a higher level one. It's natural to want to help friends level faster. It's just when a low level character trains twice as fast as normally possible in a party by hanging afk on a rope while the high level character kills things that something is a little broken. The new system seems to correct this, as lower levelled characters leech less exp from the party than high levelled characters, and the total leeched exp is much less than the exp gained from killing.

Or when a person watches someone kill an anego or BF and they gain 199% off it. Tongue

Someone (I think it was Cyanne) mentioned that Time Temple maps were being redone to remove platforms and replace them with ropes/ladders to make it harder for mage classes to train via ultimates. If Nexon wants to discourage leech training via ultimates, they should go edit all the popular high-level training maps to take away safe spots where mages can spam ultimates from without fear of retaliation. If maps can be changed so that ultimate-spamming mages have to deal with bump damage all the time instead of spamming ultimates from a safe spot, it would lessen the advantages they have over other classes in terms of training speed.

I would like to see a change in the party experience formula where parties of members of similar level gets the full experience bonus for partying while party members who differ greatly in level have only a partial bonus with the majority of experience going to the higher level party member. If the difference in levels is severe, no experience bonus for partying will be given. This encourages people grouping with people of the same level and penalizes low level people who are trying to leech their way up by giving them less leech experience. I think this change along with the new experience formula Nexon plans to implement (where experience given is based on how much damage is done by each party member) would discourage leeching while encouraging partying with people of the same level.

I don't see why people are so anal about others leeching. It does not effect anyone except the 2 people in the party. As soon as they gotta start training on their own (unless they wanna buy leech to 14x and beyond), they're just going to end up quitting. I know PLENTY of people like this. They keep buying leech and just end up stopping at high 12x or low 13x to try and get into a bossing zakum guild. After they get their fix on zakum, they try to train again complaining "OMG THIS TAKES SO LONG".

Honestly...... does anyone have a reason why leeching is bad other than "ppl2pass". So what if the other person becomes lazy, that's the other person's problem and has nothing to do with you. It's a good way to help mages pay for their pot burn, and takes away mesos from heavy merchants.

It's a problem when the server is crowded enough that 19/19 Newties, Skelegons, Wolf Spiders maps are always being used by an AM leeching someone. Hard to get a party when you're competing with people who'd pay 5-10mil an hour.

If Nexon got their ass in gear and added the other mini dungeons that wouldn't be so much of a problem.

I train everyday and even in scania, I have never seen all of those maps full. Also, each one of those mages/bishops who is leeching someone, had to get ahold of that map somehow. If a mage/bishop can find an empty map to train in, then why can't anyone else. Those also aren't the only maps. Peak is usually never full and hardly ever has a mage in it.

About buying leech. There is a way to turn that against mages. If mages charge people to train/leech them, then why haven't attacking classes charged mages to take them on boss runs? Only fair right? Of course that would cause a lot of mages to bietch. Kind of the same way other classes bietch about leeching now. Mmiright? Lol

Stereo is right, at least in Windia, it does affect everyone as all the Newtie maps for 1 example are being monopolized by leechers/leechees and not available to people wanting to train and party legitimately. This was never more evident that the recent 2x (turned into 4x) events.

Newties, which is one of the best party training spots for the levels it is intended for (105-14x) is always full of leechers =(

Peak is not nearly as friendly for ranged classes, nor are most of the other maps.

It's hard to find a top/mid spot in Bera because there are so many of them. I agree that most of them will quit, and I don't care about that. Edit: Just today I had a conversation with a leecher who will most definitely quit before he gets anywhere in 4th job.
Me, on my 98 Outlaw: (seeing AM leeching a 102 Outlaw) Can I solo the bottom of this map?
AM: (no response)
OL: u train here???
Me: Where else would I train?
OL: wow let me see
I'm like, what? but start bottoming as usual. OL observes for a few minutes, and asks about where to put his skills.
OL: see, i dunno where to train xD
OL: i just leech xD
I f3 and he goes back up to leech. The AM DCs. He comes back down.
OL: my leecher dc'd *f4*
Me: So why don't you train?
OL: i'm scurred
OL: so much dmgs. you don't die?
Me: Nope. (to self: wow why the pineapple are you playing a ranged class then)
OL: let me try to kill [a nest golem] (because he hasn't done once what I've been doing to train since early 9x)
I move to the bottom right, and the Outlaw demonstrates his crappy damage and lack of control. He eventually kills one, and provokes another to transform when the AM comes back and everything goes back to the way it was.

Yeah, I really don't care that he's higher level or if he's levelling faster than me. I don't care that he has no idea how to play his character, nor that he won't be able to tell anyone where Outlaws train or what their skill build should look like. What's annoying is that he's there, clogging up the spot. It's the way the whole system works that I think is broken.

Put it this way. Most people want to level faster, right? So they'll seek out the fastest way to gain exp. Right now, from 78-early 12x, the fastest way by far is to leech a magician. Leeching a Bishop at Harps around level 80 is over 50% an hour. The next best option for most classes is soloing Windraiders or partying at MP3, which typically nets 20-30%, depending on your class and your damage. What that says is, if I'm 3rd job and want to level as fast as possible, I have no other option than to leech.
It makes no sense. I want to level, but the fastest way to do so is to pay a lot of money and go afk while someone else does it for me? That's just depressing. And in most of the places that are suitable for leeching, it doesn't even matter if the leecher is doing anything or not. At Harps, there's not much for them to do other than collect loot, because the mage will be killing the entire map off from one spot. Even at Newties, where the leecher could potentially bottom, the bottom platform is usually ignored because it's less hassle for both the leecher and the mage to stay in one spot.

This is how it should work (fastest to slowest)

-Party with higher levels (lower level attacks)
-Party with similar levels
-Party with lower levels
-Solo
-Pure leeching

And no, attackers shouldn't sell entrance to bosses. Everyone who wants to should have an equal opportunity at bossing, regardless of class. Same with training.

Okay, when we get leafre mini dungeons, what's your next excuse/argument?

And like rusty said, how the hell do you think those people got maps?
