v.154 – Sword Art Online Update Highlights

What happens when you add a card to a familiar that's already in the book? Does its vitality get extended, and the effects remain the same, or does it get the newest card's potential?

I have no idea, I'll see if I can find anything on it, I unfortunately don't have any familiars from prior to this in jMS, so I couldn't test it out myself.

I do understand all the criticism to SAO and even agree with many of it, however it was definitely entretaining to watch and even the second season is. It goes along the lines of "if you got no better thing to watch why not watch SAO?".Now going from there to "OMG how can Nexon taint MapleStory with SAO?"? Please...

It definitely will be a boring patch but some content is definitely better than no content at all.

I've definitely seen worse/more boring anime. The main reason I first watched SAO is because it was virtual reality. I already did .hack and there isn't a huge selection of virtual reality. Whenever I look for recommended anime over half the recommendations are things I have already seen. Watching only what majority considers good enough to watch would be dumb. (This post was in agreement with your sentiment)

I'm kinda confused why they didn't include GGO since well... it's the latest arc that's out for anime. Even mabinogi had that.

I wonder how much of the opinion in this thread is tinted by the anime moniker added to the content? I don't remember there being so much negativity towards previous "filler" patches even the most recent similar Dungeon in the Ayame content. At most it was ambivalence, more of the same "Whatever," or "I don't care about it," I frequently see, but there is some real venom from people this time around. For the record, this is more "Meh," for me, a nice little something, completely expected, something to do. No table flipping here, just basic content appropriate for the time (see below).

By the way, it is September; not May, June or July, not November nor December nor January, hell, it isn't even October. Are you expecting a Tier I update, lolGMSExclusiveContent, what? It makes little sense to roll out that kind of thing right as school is getting started, so I am not sure what (unrealistic) expectations Nexon is supposedly failing to fulfill this time of year.

Clearly all filler updates since school started, none of them permanent editions and been consistent for almost 6 out of the 8 years that it's been existence.

I think the maple sao content was designed before ggo anime was confirmed.

Looks like the Blaze Wizard revamp is coming next week along with the SAO event.

Tbh because they are filler patches. A long time ago we used to get large patches, none of these minor patches/event patches. The events came along with the larger patches. Over time events have become more like chores/less event-like because they're held so often, and the large patches people care for are known as "main" patches (like Big Bang, Legends, Chaos, etc), and these smaller ones are just fillers to give us something to do because everyone is so used to the frequent events/patches.

Yeah, you used to get larger patches...once every six months.

I remember the huge periods of no patches or junk patches that both GMS and JMS got. Both games had huge content hiatuses. You guys are just so used to getting content on a monthly basis that not getting new content for a month annoys you now. You're used to it. It wasn't like that years ago.

I don't know it all as I didn't get a high enough level, but as soon as I got my familiar, it's effects was gone, but it had potential and you could summon more than one, depending on what profession you had there, they had exclusives at that too.

JMS had that change to the Potential system A LONG time ago. Like...years ago. The SAO patch didn't do that.

When you say "familiar you had before", does that mean the actual familiar, or will the cards keep the potential?
In other words, should I stockpile Jr. Boogie familiar cards for future new chars, or will they become useless if we get that revamp?

I'm pretty sure the cards keep their old potential, but it was so long ago I don't remember anymore. There's a very low chance GMS would even get this change because, as both Grey and I pointed out, this was added to JMS long ago and GMS went right past it and ignored it.

If Blaze Wizards are getting revamped, then I'm suddenly okay with this.

Highlights make it seem like it's SAO and only SAO. And a patch with only a gimmick dungeon didn't appeal to me

They copied the event from JMS. They would actually need to make a GGO event from the ground up, which we all know won't happen. And SAO and GGO are different games, so there would need to be 2 different dungeons.

true... however looking at the nx clothing they have leafa and yui's pixie form from the ALO arc. They could have put in sinon's and that could mark as a crossover from that arc.

Wasn't gonna even bother with this patch before BW reveal.

Another new char to try out to 120. Got some anni stuff waiting for it.
