I don't think it was a result of this at all.
November 2013 this event was out in JMS. This was 5 months after the initial post was made by Girasol. The depth of this event, the licensing, etc would take more than 5 months to develop and ship to JMS. I believe Girasol included SAO as a selection in that post solely because she was informed that this was already being developed for JMS.
I will agree that there may have been some influence from GMS players to translate the content to English, however there is no way to discern this. From what I remember, many Southperrians/Maplers wanted Adventure Time.
All in all, I believe SAO was pushed through to GMS release due to the popularity that the animu has had outside of Japan. Netflix is streaming it, it has its own game published by Bandai in the Playstation Store, and this event coincides with the new season being shown so I guess the hype is at its peak for now.
Players may think that this is some sort of "Cash grab" from Nexon, but they forget about the inverse of this. People who just like watching an anime (SAO for instance) would probably like to play a game with an ingame event about SAO. The same could be said for past tie-in events. In JMS they have had similar events for Miku/Naruto/FMA/Madoka Magica/K-On/Lotte (Candy? IDK)/Other things I may have forgotten.

"DONT LIKE HOW YOU HAVE TO CUBE EVERYTHING!? ITS A FREE GAME, DONT LIKE IT DONT CUBE". -2010
Entitlement is the most asinine adjective you could have used, ever. um, a little event patch is quite vastly different than a fucking cash cow that the entire game is based around. Try again. Everyone has every right to peach about cubes, not so much an event that a large group of players asked and voted for. Entitlement absolutely is a good word to use.

You're talking about an event that isolates the biggest spenders vs the regular players right? Like almost every other event, which perpetuates the problem, and your response is "CONFORM OR QUIT", which majority of the population did.
It's okay though, eventually that item will be in marvel machine like shinku said, where you have 1/1000 chance to get something worth the amount of the ticket/spin whatever. But that's a choice, so who cares, just quit if you dont like it, right? lmfao
Asinine perpespecitve. period.

KhainiWest; is there some sort of pay to win aspect of this i dont know about? I could have sworn your stats had absolutely no effect on your damage in that dungeon. If they do, then yeah id agree thats pretty scummy. Otherwise there is nothing to complain about here.

Just this
You'll need SAO Coins to gain access to the dungeon. The number of required coins will depend on the difficulty chosen (Normal or Premium). SAO Coins can be purchased from the Cash Shop. You can access the SAO Dungeon once a day without using SAO Coins by speaking to Kirito.
I like the event but really they make it so that you have to pay to take full advantage of this event which is kind of sad tbh.

Alex beat me to it, but yes, "premium" dungeon syndrome. I swear I quoted zelkova stating this but it didn't go through.

Well so much for rank one then. "Premium" dungeons have always irked the pomegranate out of me.

Over time events have become more like chores/less event-like because they're held so often, and the large patches people care for are known as "main" patches (like Big Bang, Legends, Chaos, etc), and these smaller ones are just fillers to give us something to do because everyone is so used to the frequent events/patches.
Personally, I don't care for this patch because I don't like anime, but I can see a lot of people enjoying this patch, because I hear about this anime pretty often.
Sounds like a bunch of babies with no patience to me.
Didn't this patch in JMS give them an update Familar system? Maybe we will get that too? if we did it would be amazing patch to me lol.

I would recommend that you get any familiars with abilities that you favored because the updated Familiar system removes those effects. I went on JMS and Shrooms no longer had their HP heal effect.

We already do mimic SAO bossing. Either one insanely OP person takes down the boss mostly by themselves, with possibly some minor support/buffs, or a group of moderately funded takes them down. Noobs and unfunded get wiped out.

I don't know it all as I didn't get a high enough level, but as soon as I got my familiar, it's effects was gone, but it had potential and you could summon more than one, depending on what profession you had there, they had exclusives at that too.

Had potential? Could you cube it for better potential?

After the JMS familiar update, any familiars you had before will maintain their ability, but any that you get after are basically just like equips, they have a potential based on their rank, so for example, Castle Golems are legendary, so they'd have legendary potential. They also added a Mythic rank of familiars, have no idea how that works in terms of potential, but it's for like mythical bosses and such. I believe they added a method of cubing the potential, but I'm not sure if you could increase rank since it's based on the familiar.
This update was way before this patch in jMS, before the Sengoku classes, even, and I'm pretty sure we won't be getting it. Hence why all of our new familiars (like, the stuff around Momijigaoka) have the effect of increasing STR, DEX, INT, and LUK by 3. They weren't assigned an effect because it was expected that they'd just have potential, so it defaults to that effect.
You can also combine familiars within a certain range of levels (I think, basically feeding a familiar to another) which increases its stats, like how much damage the familiar does.
They combined Smithing and Accessory Crafting during Chaos (Renaissance) and released Monster Tamer as a third profession instead. You can summon up to 3 different familiars.

When you say "familiar you had before", does that mean the actual familiar, or will the cards keep the potential?
In other words, should I stockpile Jr. Boogie familiar cards for future new chars, or will they become useless if we get that revamp?

I'm not sure. I recall reading that familiars have to be newly dropped to have potential, but I can't say for sure if the cards will have the same effects if they were dropped from before. They definitely maintain effects if they're in the book, though.

What happens when you add a card to a familiar that's already in the book? Does its vitality get extended, and the effects remain the same, or does it get the newest card's potential?

I wonder how much of the opinion in this thread is tinted by the anime moniker added to the content? I don't remember there being so much negativity towards previous "filler" patches even the most recent similar Dungeon in the Ayame content. At most it was ambivalence, more of the same "Whatever," or "I don't care about it," I frequently see, but there is some real venom from people this time around. For the record, this is more "Meh," for me, a nice little something, completely expected, something to do. No table flipping here, just basic content appropriate for the time (see below).
By the way, it is September; not May, June or July, not November nor December nor January, hell, it isn't even October. Are you expecting a Tier I update, lolGMSExclusiveContent, what? It makes little sense to roll out that kind of thing right as school is getting started, so I am not sure what (unrealistic) expectations Nexon is supposedly failing to fulfill this time of year.
