[Complete] Scheduled Server Maintenance - July 3, 2014

¬Rob Wrote:With this pop up, you have to mash both of them. I've my boxes on M, npc chat on -, I can't just sit there holding M and pressing -. It won't open any boxes after the first.
I've even moved npc chat to N so they're right next to each other. You have to mash TWO keys like this, since holding them down doesn't work.

You must have somehow thought I meant purely double clicking them to be bothersome, I wouldn't complain at all if we couldn't hotkey them, this is about the pointless pop up.

It takes a few tries but you can actually literally hold onto two keys and make it work.

If it helps, I use Y as NPC and 'Space' as the box and I can hold onto it until my inventory fills up.

Nexon accidentally reset my equip and use slot purchases this patch. So much for getting keyboard warrior any time soon.

Do you mean you lost the expansions? Or that you can now purchase 2 of each of them from the shop again?

Cause I think the second one always happens during Server Maintenance, doesn't it? (Number of a certain item you can buy from event coin shops resetting, I mean)

The second one.
The thing is, I can't buy any setup or etc, even though I didn't buy any setup, and I did max out on etc beforehand.

the temporal pod chair was removed so everything in the shop was moved up one line and the purchase limits are misplaced now. i think thats why, anyway.

Does anyone know if those who exploited this error, have received some form of penalization?

Obviously not.

Especially the ones who posted videos of them using it. They're fine and dandy and still think they're the cream of the the crop.

That's quite unsettling. Tongue

What happened to showing the world that cheating is not allowed, and that there will be consequences. This would have been a golden opportunity, especially since it's about an exploit that was used for something prestigious as Mu Lung Dojo (+ endgame gloves).

Doesn't really matter anymore. Second chance 2.0 released bans from FAR worse cheating.
What Nexon has taught us about cheating is that, if caught, there's a chance you'll get punished -- but that punishment will be forgiven, no matter how bad the crime.

Like it's been said so many times before, the only reason not to cheat/abuse glitches/hack in this game is if you enjoy not doing those things (as there are no repercussions).

Why on earth did you think this would be a good opportunity? Compared to a lot of other things that have been (and continue to be) exploited, glitching Auras is very light. The Battle Mage aura glitch has been around for like 3 years too.

There are still people in the top 10 global rankings who actively bot 24/7, d/c hackers locking people out of their accounts, hundreds of people using hacking tools to meso farm/level up/kill bosses, etc. Having a party skill stuck to your character for a few hours is not even remotely 'serious', especially considering that all of the previous things I mentioned seem to result in no repercussions.

I know what you mean, and I agree on that. However, I considered this one to be yet another (missed) opportunity for Nexon to put their foot down, as more and more players think it's "alright" to cheat, and sadly get away with it often. I mean they have start somewhere?

They do have to start somewhere, but starting with something as negligible as this would be stupid. How about starting with permanently banning those who seem to have more ability to keep other players from logging into the game via disconnection hacks than actual GMs do with the ridiculously light ban durations. Or people who are still botting up to level 250 despite 4+ temporary bans. Hell, even people who fake being GMs to lure other players into shady websites to steal their account information.

There are an obscenely high number of things wrong with MapleStory, but calling for penalization for a bug like this when there are significantly larger issues at hand (especially those that have been for years) is laughable. I get that you want ~justice~ for people who break the rules but there's pretty clearly a hierarchy of broken rules and starting at the very bottom would be an enormous waste of time. Maybe by punishing those who break the more serious rules people would think twice before doing smaller things like this. Or if Nexon paid more attention to the state of the game bugs like this wouldn't last for 3 years without being noticed.

I think the main problem is that Nexon's just too desperate for players. At least 70% of the people in GAZED that could get ~6:30 or lower without Auras were using the glitch; that's a pretty large chunk of the more active player-base gone if they were to start handing out bans for it. And like people have already mentioned, it's not anywhere near as major as some of the other things going on. The only reason I reported it was because the Dojo rankings were getting out of hand.
