v.146 - Return to Masteria Update Highlights
#21
I know these are only highlights, so they might add more stuff into the patch notes/content.. but there's no mention of nebulite and DB/cannoneer changes. They seem to be dragging their feet for the people that care about those updates.

But anyway, it's interesting to see the old NLC/Masteria and all... But plotwise, I hope they add in something new and interesting, like quests or whatnot on how NLC gets rebuilt, what happens to the aliens, etc or something? It probably won't make a lot of sense if there is any to begin with xP. Oh well.

I am happy that they bring back the original Masteria, it was so much better than everything we had seen up to that point, and still beats most new areas in design and soul.
I really hope they've found a way to make it relevant, but even if they have not, it feels good to know that such a monument is available for a stroll down memory lane.

Unchanged is is a terrible update for players starting after Big Bang though.

There is no way they'll do that. They are just going to slap it on with a portal in new NLC or have the crap mirror take you there.

The old masteria sucked big time. 99% of all the maps was worthless garbage. The only thing good about it was wolf spiders map, bigfoots, CWK party quest and haunted house. Your right that it needs a total revamp otherwise they should just put revamped Bigfoot spawns and wolf spiders map in the current destroyed masteria. They should just give us TMS masteria with the visitor maps.

From a purely gameplay and "usefulness" perspective, yeah, Masteria didn't bring that terribly much to the table, but it still has actual thought put into the characters, the quests, the interactions. It's much more than just a zone for grinding.

Seriously, how many people bothered with old Crimsonwood area after Big Bang killed Windraiders? I was a huge player in that area and after Big Bang, I had no reason to go except to occasionally snipe Crimson Guards. It used to be sweet to train there, but once all the mobs became uniform with everything else, the only draw it has was potentially the story. Since area story quests are really only interesting the first time you do them, the area just died. The only continual draw was the ability to make Balanced Furies, but that's a limited number of people.

All in all, though, it was a well designed place. If they want us to actually use the area, though, it needs something to draw us there. Otherwise, training is better done elsewhere.

I spent probably half of my time in there. Gaining experience isn't the only reason to kill monsters.

Windraiders became extremely lucrative for farming their badges, which had higher drop rate than before, for the badge turn in which gave 750k (??) meso every so often.

CLEARLY you where not a cb or x/bow man back then or hell level 60-80(50 for dbs) as wr where good for level 60-80 and after that cb and x/bowman went to tyhpons. hell lepricans where a decent source of money and elder wraths where good training if you could tank them.

Remember when Phantom Forest first came out and they forgot to flag Bigfoot as a boss?

That was hilarious.

They better not reset the quests in Masteria because I will be mad if my Mark of Heroism and Map of Phantom Forest don't work anymore.

I don't see why they wouldn't work, but they probably will reset them. If they do, I just hope they're higher level than they are now.

Maybe they'll eventually add an upgrade tier.

What they should do is make the past NLC the "present" and the alien invaded world "the future" that Foxwitt had created with his time machine stuff.
