New Root Abyss Equip Drop
street Wrote:Who the f'uck are you again?

Aw, big words coming from you...I don't see how this is relevant.

street Wrote:To be playing maple for this long is not an easy task.
Lol. Playing maple isn't hard. Working your ass off and merching as well as farming whatever items are profitable from a current event and/or bosses can be an exhausting task, but it's not hard.

street Wrote:Everyone tries their hardest to keep up in the game when nexon keeps making current gear that WE WORKED HARD for obsolete in one patch.
Because you speak for everyone, yes?

street Wrote:When rervese gear first came in to the game it was hard to get because of the horrible drop rate of piece of times back then. No one that i knew once give up in working hard in the game. Grinding in the same map over and over just to get 5 POT in 4 hours. Then PB was finally beatable and timeless came in to the mix. Then all that hard work went down the drain and we had to start from square one. Then when you finally scrolled your reverse gear to a decent attack empress came out.
Okay, reminisce about the past some more, that's not going to help you any. Such is the nature of MMOs.

The difference here, unlike a lot of other MMOs-say WoW, for example- is that they don't require you to use real money to upgrade equips, as nexon does. You're really just falling into Nexon ploy to make more money off of you.

>End game equips are easier to get
>More players have end-game equips, and therefore more individuals will feel the need to enhance these equips.
>Doing above requires cash shop items such as safety scrolls, protection scrolls, shielding wards, and superior shielding wards. All of which cost NX, with a limited few available in the coin shop for an outrageous price.

So yeah, hooray for supporting Nexon with more of your money.

street Wrote:The ones that like the posts are the maplers that are trying their hardest doing all the event quest, shops, attendance, just to stay relevant in this game.

Hackers and dupers are the ones that never worked hard in the game. Not us. Get your head out of the clouds you royal pos.

Cute words.

Pretty much this.

I have suffered a lot from this, after 8 years playing maplestory -.- all my equips became outdated every single patch ._.

lvl 100 + psb nicely scrolled > empress > fafnir ._.
tempest > alien set > gollux set

pineaple! all that work to the trash! -.-

Earrings, pendants...dominators are hilariously bad now compared to gollux pendants even if you have to do hell mode it's cheaper than dominators to perfect and it has a set eff that's on par with fafnir or arguably better. They're all easy to replace previously perfected accessories and they're more profitable to boot.

Everyone got screwed over, but everyone gains, unlike the root abyss and empress situation.

My mind is all over the place atm, but I am just remembering I only mentioned untradeable rings because both earrings and pendants, in most cases, are re-sellable to help offset the cost of upgrading.
In my case, by upgrading to superior gollux pendants, I'm actually going to come out ahead after I sell my Dominator and CHTP. The excess from the pendants even covers the ring/earrings I think.

anyways, totes off topic, but I'm pretty sure every single person ever is in favor of gollux

You know, I'm pretty sure most of us can see both sides of the argument, and people have said the same thing you had, just in much less shitty arrogant words.
Why the attitude?
You are basically setting yourself up as the villain here and trying to cause drama.

This is a problem with the way Nexon handled this. The boss system should have always been like this, favouring parties over max funded solo characters, and it's shocking that it lasted this long.
The only real issue here is how high the drop rate is, and that will probably get fixed pretty quickly.

Is it bad that I want the drop system that's implemented in CHT (6 people must be there in order for drops) to be implemented to all end game bosses? (Well, 3 or 4 people should do for RA and Cyg) .-.

I think that would be stupid.
People who can solo and want to solo should be able to do so imo...

I haven't played Maple in about two years now, yet I still keep up enough to know that all the equips that my old Bowmaster has now are worthless.

Don't forget you're on SouthPerry, Ice. Everyone that comes around here is fiercely dedicated to some degree. Just because a good amount of us decide not to game the system, withholding information (of which everyone comes to SouthPerry for information in the first place) for the sake of profiting off of ignorance doesn't mean the people here are lazy asses doing nothing at all.

Alilatias, you've always had that eloquence about you, even when we were little kids playing Neopets like 8 or 9 years ago. We used to be in the club at Serebii together, haha.

On topic: I think it's funny that once one clear flame baiter is gone, a new one comes out to play and rustle everyone's jimmies. I don't think anyone will come to any sort of civil matter on this subject, because I feel like the people who are borderline flame baiting are simply not understanding the other side, but think they understand.

That is very bad and you should feel bad for thinking about that. People-requirement for drops is just plain stupid. People who want to solo should be able to solo, and having no people-requirement-for-drops doesn't mean you can't go bosses in a party.
And also, just because some bosses have higher graphic/ram requirements (e.g CHT) shouldn't mean that a party of 6 would have no drops just because someone's computer can't handle the stupid boss.
There's always glitching in, which is also the same as solo-ing.
pineapple the -insert amount of people- requirement for drops.

It's a win-lose situation, because not only can parties kill and each get loot reward for effort, but max funded can solo and bring loot mules. The loot mechanic definitely needs to be adjusted.

Leave the overall mechanic the same. Everyone in the party has equal chance to loot. BUT, Add a weighted factor proportional to the total damage done by each player. Do more damage and there is more chance for you to get loot, compared to everyone in the party. any player who MISS MISS on boss will have no chance for loot. If the main attacker D/Cs before killing the boss, his weighted factor does-not-disappear with him. The loot formula will still decide YES or NO for anyone in the party getting loot(s). If the party receives loot, then the chance to receive loot becomes based on the weighted factor. WF = individual damage / largest contributer's damage

 Spoiler
These models show how a Weighted Factor can benefit a party of similar damage players, while still rewarding better funded characters with higher loot chance.

Except this doesn't account for support characters.

If your main DPSer can't finish in time without the two binders he brings along, they are just as important as he is. Why should they get no drops?

Also, how do you calculate how many items total will be given out?
Should a soloer get as many items as a party of 6 equal attackers?

I don't see anything wrong with bringing extra looters, or selling runs for loot (a time-honored Maple practice). I think it's good that you can't have misloots and therefore there is little reason for stronger players to refuse to party with weaker ones.

The drop rate is apparently too high now. It will certainly go down and up again, as Nexon like to fiddle with these things.

While I would agree, its more likely that stronger players would charge ridiculous amounts since they would stop profiting as much from the equips themself.

Also, for those people complaining that they get full inventories of emp gear and what not, what drop raite do you kill her on? If people continue to kill her on 2/4/ect. rates, its no surpise the market would be flooded, especially after people bring in mules to farm even more equips.

Can't speak for everyone on empress, but when we usually kill it each v2 drops 1-3 equips while empress drops 3-5 weapons per person. This is on 1x btw.

That doesn't sound broken at all.

It just sounds like nexon implemented this to make sweetwaters a better option by making transposing materials easier to get, but didn't test the bosses on anything other than 1x and thus we have people running with full parties on 2/4/8x and getting hundreds of equips a week.

Keep in mind we were just fooling around and basically forgot allcommon drop multipliers have access to. More specifically, none of us had our Big Spider familiar card out and all of us were too lazy to put on our greed pendant.

Sounds like it is time for papa Nexon to take away the drop rate manipulation toys from all the greedy kids then. Rolleyes

But seriously, if they are to keep this system, we can't run around with 8x drop rate.

As someone who's been bossing for years, anything less than the maximum drop rate possible is unacceptable.

I agree with Marksman Bryan;

I mean, there's absolutely no reason to not use the maximum drop rate possible. It's not them being greedy, either. In a perfect world, yeah we shouldn't have drop multipliers on bosses, perhaps, but MapleStory is anything but perfect. Not making the most of what is available is just stupid. It's not the player's fault that Nexon did this.

They either take advantage of this, or watch everyone else take advantage of it. Can't blame them for it.

Except this doesn't account for support characters.
If your main DPSer can't finish in time without the two binders he brings along, they are just as important as he is. Why should they get no drops?

Support characters will rely on loot via the old system: Splits from the one person doing all the damage. That remains unchanged. They could also dps normally.
What the overall model tries to do, is eliminate mule-loots and balance loots for all attackers. Maybe add minimum drop chance X% regardless of damage.

Also, how do you calculate how many items total will be given out?
Should a soloer get as many items as a party of 6 equal attackers?

however this is calculated normally. A soloer will get as many drops as the max dpser in a party. nexon spits out a drop number (example =4) for one solo. suppose the formula is exactly the same result, with a party of 6. the highest damager will get that same (example =4) drop count, and each other party member will have weighted chance for each of (example =4) loots. A weaker member could get the same number, by 'formula luck' but will never get more than the top damager.
Example 1: 4 ppl each doing exactly 25% dmg, can each get the same loot, as one soloer; depending on nexon's current drops-per-boss formula.
Example 2: 2 ppl do 30% dmg each, and 4 ppl do 10% each. the 2 ppl will get the maximum amount of loot the formula spits out to them, and the weight formula will apply for each drop, for each of the 4 ppl.

I don't see anything wrong with bringing extra looters, or selling runs for loot (a time-honored Maple practice). I think it's good that you can't have misloots and therefore there is little reason for stronger players to refuse to party with weaker ones.
^This is the general debate, whether godly funded merchants should benefit from loot mules, or the general populous participating in group runs with individual loot.

The drop rate is apparently too high now. It will certainly go down and up again, as Nexon like to fiddle with these things.
Back End Modifications - I wish nexon would release their change logs like they used
