New Root Abyss Equip Drop
Gymleaders Wrote:Yeah, it's good in the short run, because everyone gets cheaper equipment. But once the people who are going to actually cube them do all of that, it's just going to be equipment for lesser funded people to buy clean and never cube... And if you're against it being added to empress, why aren't you against it being added to CRA?

I didn't say I was against it happening to Empress, just that it wasn't necessary. The Empress gear market has been completely saturated for several, several months, and the change for her just means the gear has more or less become fodder for the rich. Besides, the entire Empress set is still somewhat expensive to obtain, if you look to get the Shoulder and Cape too, as those both are still somewhat highpriced.

The RA market on the other hand has been considerably high-priced since its release, prices varying depending on the class its for, but regularly going for 2-3b clean if not more, making it impossible for most people to obtain through any means, much less scroll and/or cube. As Niernen said, the people who can kill CRA bosses still control the market, and will continue to profit off of the gear, even if it's less of a profit now, because there will continue to be a market for it.

I don't understand how this is disrespectful. People thought it was funny that you were so confident in your opinion, it wasn't until you posted here that you actually justified peoples observations.

kayeyearekay Wrote:and YES since it was brought up, I WILL clarify what I mean to say, so please, keep attacking me, because nobody is allowed to explain themselves, ever.

Quick tip, nothing makes your argument/justification weaker than being melodramatic and trying to play victim. To be honest no one here said anything offensive enough to even warrant your outrage. Your reputation has been damaged by your attitude and reactions to negative criticism, god forbid what you would do if you posted a youtube video.

Anyway, since you don't know how nexon actually works, any other thread that isn't tech support/bug related, is dealt with by the community manager. Who is that again? Oh. Right. One left and one got fired, most likely they have someone who handles ticket handle forum clean up's, or maybe the volunteers notify, who knows, although they seem just as useless.

The later two are actually seen by developers, this is common knowledge. If it is a problem with the distribution, then that's the fastest way to solve it, outside of ticket spamming. A general thread will genuinely get you no where and require much more attention from community outrage to warrant a developer to look at it, assuming it ever is brought to his attention.

So although you are entitled to your opinion, it's incorrect based on the format of how the forums work, which I can't really blame you for, although I like to think it's common knowledge, it's not commonly spread either.

kayeyearekay Wrote:and i almost forgot, bad behavior completely invalidates anything said, because you said so.

Doesn't matter really what you say, but how you say it. You're a perfect example. People think you're acting self righteous with your entire foundation on assumptions. You come on here, fully clothed in battle armor because people didn't praise you but laughed at your arrogance. Then act frustrated when people skim over your posts? No one is taking you seriously because of your attitude, not because of your logic.

kayeyearekay Wrote:We should add that to the southperry forum rules and regulations. Please be sure to finalize your submission by the ending period, February 28, 2014.

Genuinely that is a good recommendation, emotional responses do tend to be melodramatic and irrational.

Jamesie Wrote:CRA would have to increase to Empress level of supply and Empress level of demand for this to be the case. The only way CRA is going to get to that point is if (or more when) they release a newer set that outdoes what CRA does. So almost inevitably, this would happen anyways.

Why is Empress so hard to sell now? Well the market was already reasonably saturated, but more importantly, the demand for Empress has dropped significantly. Why don't people buy Zakum Helms or Horntail Pendants? Aside from the fact that the bosses are significantly easier to kill now, those equips are outdone by Empress and CRA equips.

Empress is in such demand because it's cheap. If CRA is cheaper, it will be more in demand, because it's suddenly within so many more player's realm of possibilities. Releasing a newer set will be no reason for people to suddenly want CRA equips. If they are cheap, they will be in demand and bought often, just as empress is.

The market for Empress was so saturated because of months and months of them coming from gachapon, marvel, teapots, empress runs, hackers, and so on. There's more from hackers/non empress runs than legit empress runs. If the market was given time to grow on its own, without illegitimate interference, or ways of obtaining them via NX cash, then empress would be much more quality of an equipment, and not be so devalued.

CRA becoming cheap will essentially put Empress equips in their grave. Additionally, CRA being cheap without being replaced by a better equipment isn't good. It'd be slightly understandable if there was much better gear and CRA equipment was pretty much negligible, but they're still one of the two best equipment sets in the game. They're not devaluing because there's better equipment; they're devaluing because so many are flooding the markets.

It's not necessary for Empress equipment, because they're already been devalued so much, and this is the nail in the coffin for empress. Give it a few weeks, months, and Empress will be pocket change. Thank goodness it's tradeable, if it had to be SOKed to trade, it'd be the new Zakum Helmet.

And honestly, why shouldn't some of the best end-game equipment in the game be high priced? Should this gear be available for everyone to obtain? Is the only thing that should differentiate an end-game player from a non end-game player the potential on their equipment, but not the equipment itself? This is basically all just tying back to the point of this making the game more pay2win. :/

There'll continue to be a market for now. If people continue to bring 4-6 characters along with them on their solos, it'll just be the rich staying rich until the prices plummet to the ground. @_@

I mean, I guess I can finally finish off my Dunwitch set. B>Royal Dunwitch Hat.

Uhhh no?
Empress didn't need a new set to become the 10m mesos gear it is right now.
It was the high supply that did that, not the introduction of a new set of equipment.

Jamesie Wrote:Why is Empress so hard to sell now?
Because half the fm has empress equips now.

And if CRA continues like this, it will face the same faith.

FoolsLove Wrote:I'm sorry, but there continues to be almost nothing I see wrong with this change, at all. This change, whether intended or not, gives a lot of people access to gear they normally would not be able to obtain without spending a lot of money both in-game and on NX. The market for RA gear isn't going to suddenly just shrivel up. It's going to exist for quite some time, and it will get bigger before it gets smaller, because there's so few people in the game that don't have any.

Yes, I can agree the change to Empress as well was... not necessary, as Empress was already considerably cheap.

So what if there's even even a little bit more spent on NX? So. What. People are going to spend money on NX whether they've got end-game gear or not.

It kills any means of decent profit and it's pissing people off because once again we're back to the S>NX stage (Happens almost every 3 years when the power creep catches up and nexon suddenly wants everyone to catch up) which makes any profit within actually playing impossible even to those who invested a lot of money. I can understand your perspective, but the reason most players make these type of investments is to get above the power curve and make substantial profit without investing anymore.

Essentially players who are able to kill it and spent enough to be in this class of 'elite' make these large NX investments so they are self dependable simply by playing. They rightfully should be pissed, but at the same time this has happened twice before. (See HT 2008, Empress 2011).

What you see is an opportunity for casual players to get a damage boost, what you don't see is that damage boost is completely worthless as any boss you can fight now has worthless drops, making you even more dependent on NX than before.

i wonder what would happen if bosses worked like this:

can only run X amounts of times a day/week
bosses have meh-bad-terrible drop rate on gears
bosses have almost guaranteed drop rates on scrolls
low level bosses drop scrolls that help for scrolling (WS)
mid-level bosses drop those, and have a fair chance to drop cubes, and nobooms, limited by the number of runs you can do.
high end bosses drop the same, but for tyrants and such

you can work for your gear, or you can skip the work and pay NX for it. if you want a tyrant cape or some sort of gear however, that is gonna be expensive since they're rare, but powering yourself up so you can kill the bosses would take only time, not inordate amounts of money (unless you wished so)

TL;DR: switch equip drop rate with scroll drop rate

What I see is an opportunity for casual players to get a damage boost so that more of the game opens up to them. Casual players don't play the game to become the strongest, the richest, the best, whatever, they play the game to enjoy it for what it is, a game. Do I believe that all of the content, all of the best gear in an MMO should be accessible by every single player? No. And even with the CRA drop changes, it's not.

These "NX addicts" are the ones making the gear cheap... I mean, it's not like there's people who spend no NX killing CRA bosses. The same people who profited off of CRA before are the ones profiting now. It's just, why would they not bring mules in to get even more equipment?

Usually hackers or people who used hacked equipment, fair enough not 100% of them, but enough. No tears will be shed over there profits. Sad

To be honest, not very many people hack CRA. At least not in GAZED... Probably in larger servers.

Weren't people all for the "Party Drop System" change when KMS got it? Now a lot of people are against it.

I wasn't even aware KMS had this until this thread was made.

You are the "Maplestory players are masochists" guy aren't you? If so, you've picked up a new round of ammunition there, buddy. And to be honest, anyone intending to "invest" large amount of money into the game should really keep what you said in mind; Nexon will almost certainly devalue your gear or hamper your meso-making potential at sometime in the future, you can't really blame anyone when that happens, when you know this to be true.

Like the real world, a good investor knows when to exit the market or dramatically reduce exposure and risk. Diversify yo' bonds. Seriously, diversify.

From what I understand this isn't the KMS party drop system. Didn't KMS system divide the loot. This system doesn't.

You said it well. It's for the greater good, I suppose. I hear two sides on this issue:

1) High-damage players who spent a lot of money to kill these bosses so they could monopolize the profits from the drops - "QQ I can't make as much money as I used to. Now everyone will have these equips!"

2) Casual players, who don't play to make money, but to enjoy the game - "Yay! Now I actually have hope of getting one of these magical equips! I don't care about cubing or scrolling, it'd be nifty just to have an RA set!"

I have to side with the second group of players. Nexon just needs to change the systems in the game to make it so that NX CANNOT give you a drastic advantage over other players, only cosmetic items and small shortcuts to things that are normally accessible in-game (shielding and protection scrolls, cubes, etc.) Look at GW2, you CANNOT increase your power 1000x by spending money on the game, but is it still fun to play? Yes. Is it still worth it to kill bosses and other "endgame" content? For most people, yes, just to say you've beaten X boss and maybe get some equips that won't completely invalidate your current gear. A level playing field is good in my eyes. At least the dev team could focus on real content instead of new classes and revamps.

I think this is their system. However, I'm not sure if they received any such "increased drop rate" that we allegedly got for CRA. That's what's confusing.

There is nothing wrong with a system that ensures that everyone gets a fair chance at the drops, but 200 empress armor pieces per run is a little too much though.

This is what they got, at least intially. I remember people being confused by that one screenshot of Empress drops that filled up someone's inventory (maybe a full inventory and a half) right after they made the change and swearing that there was no way that all came from one run. And now we know it did.
